Jacobs declined to provide details surrounding Lewis’ leave. She would not say if the leave was with or without pay.

“Administrate issues have led to Chief Lewis being placed on administrative leave,” Jacobs said. “Other officers exhibiting unacceptable actions were dealt with accordingly.”

Jacobs declined to provide details on the actions of any other officers.

“Right now, this is an unfortunate personnel matter for the Town of Ferriday,” Jacobs said. “This matter is being addressed internally, and we hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.

“Our goal is to provide the Town of Ferriday with the highest level of law enforcement. We will have more information for the public after this situation is resolved.”

Lewis, who had previously served as Vidalia police chief before losing a re-election bid earlier this year, has been serving in the Ferriday role since July.
