Port Gibson came out to score three runs before the Bulldogs could secure their first out of the game.

Natchez coach Dan Smith called for a pitching change in the first, and Jordan Hamilton had a pair of back-to-back strikeouts, recording six total, to give the Bulldogs their first chance at the plate.

Trailing 6-0, Jatavis Melton got things started for Natchez by slamming a ground ball to left for a double, and Trevon Henry followed with a bunted single. Lucky for Natchez, Port Gibson made its own error at first base to allow both Melton and Henry to score.

The Bulldogs went through their entire lineup before the inning ended with a tie score, 6-6.

Natchez continued to suffer from its own mistakes, however, and gave up six runs in top of the second and four in the fourth.

A handful of players contributed offensively for Natchez.

Among others, Paul Hargrave and Charlie Latham each batted in two runs. Jamel Myles scored four times, Hargrave three and Melton and Henry each twice.

Melton led the hitting with one double and two singles through four innings.
