Come help Habitat with next house

Natchez-Adams County Habitat for Humanity, a United Way agency, is proud to announce the selection of the newest homeowner Carol Ann Moore. Her family includes her father Bill Harr, her sister Linda Harr and her daughter Megan Moore. Moore is employed by Walmart in Vidalia. She has worked in area Walmarts for 27 years. This home is at 14 Foster Mound Road near the MLK intersection.  We are grateful to Delta Bank in Vidalia for donating this lot to Habitat.

Habitat had the house on the lot removed, installed a new septic tank, removed several trees and brought dirt in to level the lot. Actual construction on the house started a few months ago even though we had no family at the time.

Habitat homes are built with volunteer labor and several groups, Grace UMC and Delta Bank, have already put in a work day.  We are waiting on a sorority from Alcorn, employees from Wal Mart, and members from Natchez Rotary Club to select a date to come and help.  Several contractors have donated their services. Johnny Waycaster drew a foundation plan for us, Scooter Cauthern dug the foundation and Dick Thompson of Live Oak Construction provided a crane to hoist 23 trusses onto the house.

As many of you know, Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry engaged in the construction of decent, affordable housing for lower income families.  Over 1 million homes, housing 5 million residents, have been built worldwide. The organization is currently building 100,000 homes annually.  Here in Natchez, this is the twenty-first home built by Habitat since 1991. We are also pleased to announce that three Habitat homeowners have paid off their mortgages and a few more owe less than $5,000.

You can make a financial donation through United Way by designating Habitat on your pledge card or you may send it directly to Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 100, Natchez, MS. 39121. Please contact Mrs. Connie Burns at 601-445-8388 or Duncan McFarlane at 601-445-8639 if you want to apply for a Habitat home.
