NATCHEZ — Two people were arrested Wednesday for an array of charges, including grand larceny and intent to sell a controlled substance.

Natchez police reported that officers were called to Mud Busters Car Wash, located at 232 U.S. 61 South, Monday.

Someone had reportedly stolen coins from the facility.

Police said the individuals stole approximately $1,500 in coins and potentially caused more than $3,500 in damage to the machinery.

Security footage from the scene allowed police to obtain a description of the two alleged culprits, one male and one female, as well as their getaway vehicle. Police Tuesday issued an alert for the vehicle and subsequently the vehicle was seen in the Vue Hotel parking lot.

After the car was driven out of the lot, officers stopped the man driving the vehicle and NPD investigator Hannah Best reportedly identified the man, Corey Edward Pruitt, 47, Lewisville, Texas, as the male from the surveillance footage.

Pruitt then allegedly told police the female suspect was inside the Vue Hotel, in a room reserved under Pruitt’s name.

Police said they then apprehended the second suspect in room 328 and that she too matched the description from security footage. She reportedly identified herself as Jessica Mussro, 33, 309 Lake Drive, Ferriday.

Officers then reportedly found a large amount of drugs in the hotel room and called narcotics officers to the scene to assist in the investigation.

Pruitt and Mussro were charged with grand larceny, felony malicious mischief and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within a church zone.

The arrest reportedly netted more than 10 grams of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $600.

In a statement, Natchez Chief of Police Walter Armstrong commended his officers for “an excellent job removing a dangerous drug off the streets and out of the hands of dealers, recovering the stolen property, and taking career criminals off the streets.”

The investigation remains ongoing and more charges are possible, police said.
