Jefferson County falls at home to Magee

The Magee High School Trojans got three touchdown runs from Jermond Winn in a 20-8 comeback win over the Jefferson County Tigers Friday night.

Jefferson County got off to a good start as Gailronte Fells threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Shelvin Hudson and Zac Ford ran in for the two-point conversion to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead at the 8:16 mark of the first quarter.

Winn scored his first touchdown when Magee needed it. His 2-yard scoring run and Chandler Pittman’s two-point conversion run with just 51 seconds until halftime tied the game at 8-9.

Winn’s 19-yard touchdown run with 5:32 left in the third quarter gave the Trojans the lead for good. He added a 4-yard TD run with 6:24 remaining in the game.

Fells completed seven of 13 passes for 120 yards while Ford had nine carries for 46 yards. However, the Tigers were held to just six first downs and 195 yards of total offense.

Jefferson County (0-1) visits Natchez High at 7 p.m. next Friday.
