For the second straight week, MAIS Class AAA Cathedral High School’s offense struggled to move the ball with any consistency against a team from Class AAAA.

Cathedral’s ground game was nowhere to be seen Friday night at Copiah Academy as the Colonels held the Green Wave to just 24 total rushing yards in a 43-6 homecoming victory.

J.t. Taylor was the leading rusher for the Green Wave with 35 yards on 10 carries. But Greg Moore, one of the top running backs in the area, was limited to minus-14 yards on nine carries.

Copiah Academy (3-3) led the Green Wave 31-0 at halftime and 43-0 at the end of the third quarter before Ben Foster threw a touchdown pass to Caden Poole in the fourth quarter as Cathedral avoided being shut out.

Taylor went 5-for-16 passing for 86 yards and two interceptions. Foster was 4-for-8 passing for 42 yards. Poole caught five passes for 85 yards. Defensively, Moore had an interception and Kendall Washington had nine tackles and one tackle for loss.

Cathedral (4-2) hosts Central Hinds Academy for homecoming at 7 p.m. next Friday.
