Bowie lifts Block past Northwood-Lena as Bears earn first win of season, 48-6

JONESVILLE — Northwood-Lena had no answer for Block quarterback Zorian Bowie as he accounted for more than 500 yards of total offense and seven total touchdowns as the Bears celebrated homecoming by routing the Gators 48-6 in an LHSAA District 3-1A game Friday night.

Bowie completed 16 of 26 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns to go with four carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns. E.J. Mayes had nine receptions for 250 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bears jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and then took a commanding 42-6 lead into halftime. As a team, Block finished with 602 yards of total offense.

Northwood-Lena (1-5, 1-2) scored its only touchdown of the game in the second quarter.

Block (1-5, 1-1) plays at district foe Montgomery next Friday at 7 p.m.
