NATCHEZ – Sunday activities for the 2017 Great Mississippi River Balloon Race have been canceled after a line of strong storms passed through the area Sunday morning.

The storms caused widespread damage at the festival site. Because of the damage and wet conditions, organizers decided to cancel the remainder of the festival.

Some vendors of the arts and crafts venue will continue to show and sell their work in the building on the corner of Broadway and Canal streets, until 2 p.m.

The Sunday morning race was canceled ahead of the storms because of dangerously high winds above 500 feet. The Sunday afternoon was also canceled.
