Wedding: Dent and Knight
LaDonna Dent and Vincent Knight Sr., both of Natchez, were married at 4 p.m. on June 14, 2008, at the Natchez Convention Center with the Rev. Lloyd Bailey officiating.
Parents of the couple are Ms. Patricia Dent, of Natchez, and Ms. Lucinda Knight, of Natchez, and the late Mr. Charles Knight Sr. of Woodville. Music for the ceremony was provided by Kjuane Hawkins, Tony Fields, Guy Spears and the Rev. Kejuane Bates.
The bride was given in marriage by her son, Gionni Dent and brother, Demetric Dent.
Tracy Harris and Lolitha Packnett, both of Natchez, were matrons of honor.
Shirley Allen and Shameika Thomas were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sharonda Rogers, Nichell Anderson, Marie Smith, Janice Johnson, Veronica Elery, Deleslie Bernard and Shonda Dixon, all of Natchez, Jamelda Dent of Houston, Valencia Ward of Arlington, Texas, and Karen Johnson of Jackson.
Junior bridesmaids were Amoni Knight of Dover, Del., and Paula Harris of Natchez.
Mya Thomas, Courtney Harris and Asya Terrell, all of Natchez, were flower girls.
James Harris was Bible carrier and D’Andranise McCullen was town crier.
Vincent Knight Jr. was ring bearer.
Charles Knight Jr., of Dover, and Kenard Williams of Atlanta served as best men.
Groomsmen were Steve Johnson of Dallas, Antonio Williams, Tyrone Lewis, Kelvin King, and Jonathan Knight, all of Natchez, Lemark Thompson of Houston, Dewayne Hickombottom of Atlanta, Jeffrey Knight, Bromine McMorris and Shun Lewis, all of Woodville.
Junior groomsmen were Trevon Chatman, of Natchez, and Gerald Coleman of Dallas.
Ushers were Patrick Gibbons, Chanel Stokes and Jalesia Dent, all of Natchez, and DeShun Jackson and Christopher Washington, both of Vidalia.
A reception was held at the Natchez Convention Center following the ceremony. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. January, as coordinator, Shirley Mitchell and Cookie Gibbons as hostesses.
The couple will live in Woodville.
Wedding: Raley and Kifer
Brandy Raley and Crawford Kifer, both of Vidalia, were married at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at The Briars, in Natchez, with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating.
Parents of the couple are Ronnie and Debbie Raley, of Vidalia, and Dodie Crawford, of Baskin, La., and Brian Kifer of Tallulah, La.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Sylvia Johns Ritchie.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Ronnie Raley.
She wore an ivory silk taffeta gown with silver highlights. The strapless bodice was richly embellished with swarovski crystals and silver threading. The full skirt featured double caught-up bustles throughout and ended with a chapel length train. An ivory fingertip veil with hand beaded swarovski crystals was worn by the bride.
Casey Raley, sister of the bride, of Vidalia, served as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Pam Harris of Lafayette, La., Brittany Keathey of Baton Rouge, Lauren Wagoner of Natchez, and Katie Langley of Baskin. They wore strapless tea-length dresses of eggplant chiffon.
Tucker Kifer, cousin of the groom, of St. Joseph, La., served as best man.
Groomsmen were Lee Tarver of Winnsboro, La., Lynn Loomis of Monroe, La., Trey Mason and Will Moak, both of Ferriday.
Jacob and Braxton Crawford, brothers of the groom, served as program attendants.
A reception was held at The Briars immediately following the ceremony. Music was provided by Sylvia Johns Ritchie. Assisting were Sisters Strong Catering. Jean Wagoner served as wedding director.
After a wedding trip to Longbow Resort in Prim, Ark., the couple will live in Vidalia.
Wedding: Roper and Haney
Tiffany Leann Roper and Christopher “Jordan” Haney, both of Knoxville, Tenn., were married at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Second Methodist Church in Knoxville, with the Rev. William Stooksbury officiating.
Parents of the couple are Timothy Roper and Cherri Roper, both of Knoxville, and Sidney E. Haney Jr. and Evalyn Hewitt Haney, both of Knoxville, formerly of Natchez.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the Sequoyah Stings.
The bride was escorted by her father, Timothy Roper, and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a full length white satin strapless ball gown with pickup detailing on the skirt. Her white fingertip length veil complemented her gown.
Tina Roper, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Brooke Haynes, Dana Davis, Laura Anne Haney, Jessica Haney Rutherford, sisters of the groom. They wore satin floor length strapless ball gowns in clover green, belted with white satin sashes extending into streamers.
Lindsay and Emily Cox and Leanna Ferguson, were flower girls.
Benjamin “Taylor” Haney, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Stuart “Collin” Haney, brother of the groom, Jeff Hammond, Ross Nichols, Travis Forrester and Todd Heird.
James Rutherford, Zac Archer, Mark Orr and Steven Bridges served as ushers.
A reception was held at The Foundry following the ceremony. Music for the reception was provided by Marty Ray.
Assisting with the reception were Neen McSwain, Linda Haney Harper, Megan Gammon Haney and Erin Hamilton.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will live in Knoxville.
Engagement: Swazy and Battiste
Mr. Louis Lawerence Swazy Jr., of Natchez, and Gwendilina Swazy, of California, announce the engagement of their daughter, Marquita Necole Swazy to Freddie Markieth Battiste, son of Freddie and Frankie Battiste of Natchez.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Natchez High School and is a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez.. She is employed by Natchez Regional Medical Center.
She is the granddaughter of Percy G. Mills and the late Fannie D. Mills, of California, and Louis Swazy Sr. and Jo Francie Swazy of Natchez .
The groom is a graduate of Natchez High School. He is employed by West Feliciana Work Release in St. Franciscille, La.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Henrietta Battiste and the late Mr. Clarence Battiste and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dock and Gracie Shropshire of Natchez.
The wedding will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, Nev. A reception will follow.

The groom is a graduate of Leland High School, in Leland, and is also a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice with a minor in business administration. He is an active member of the Cleveland Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is employed by Payless Shoe Source as a store manager and market leader. He is also currently a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
