VIDALIA — A Ferriday man was arrested Thursday after deputies allegedly found the supplies to make a meth lab in the stolen truck he was reportedly driving.
Thomas Allen Burts, 33, 1712 Louisiana 569, Ferriday, was charged with resisting an officer, driving under suspension, possession of stolen property and creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a passing motorist who thought Burts’ truck — which had broken down on the side of a Clayton road — was a traffic accident, CPSO Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens said.
CPSO Deputies Larry Lawrence and Craig Sewell responded to the call, and Burts allegedly gave Lawrence his brother’s identification, leading to the charge of resisting an officer, Stevens said.
When it was discovered the vehicle Burts was driving had reportedly been stolen in Natchez, the deputies searched the truck and allegedly found most of the items necessary to manufacture a meth lab, Stevens said.
No bond was set for Burts Friday afternoon.
