Natchez officer home from hospital
Published Sunday, December 2, 2007
A Natchez police officer injured after accidentally shooting himself is home from the hospital and doing well, his father said Friday.
Clifton Eric Kaho Jr., 29, was released from University of Mississippi Medical Center just before Thanksgiving, his father, Clifton Kaho Sr., said.
Officer Kaho is staying with his parents while he recovers.
“He’s coming along real good,” Kaho Sr. said. “He’s coming day by day.”
Officer Kaho underwent multiple surgeries after a gun he was cleaning discharged. A piece of the single bullet grazed his heart, and he was transported to Jackson for further care.
After 48 days in the hospital, it was good to have his son home, Kaho Sr. said.
“That was something beautiful, him coming home for Thanksgiving,” he said.
Officer Kaho is able to walk around some and converse with people, his father said.
“He’s so happy, laughing and joking. He’s back to his old self,” he said. “He’s still shaky. (He’ll need) rehab, but I don’t think he’ll need further surgery. Once he completes this healing, he’ll be fine.”
Kaho Sr. and his family are immensely grateful for the support and prayers of Adams County residents and surrounding counties.
“It was rough, but the support helps,” he said. “We’ve still got people praying for us. God truly blessed us. We thank the Miss-Lou for what they’ve done for us. I truly can’t put into words how much they did for us.”
Kaho is a member of the Natchez-Adams County Metro Narcotics Unit and had been on leave for a knee injury. The day of the incident, he was cleaning his pistol because he was scheduled to return to work.

I am glad this officer is okay, but I still think there is something fishy about his allegedly accidently shooting himself.

nana3x we ALL are very sorry for this accident that happened to this officer and of course only hope the best for him....having said that I must agree it is still very odd to many of us how someone
in his profession can accidentally shoot himself almost in the heart!
I'm just saying.

I could say anything at this point, this is the first time I have ever posted a comment. I felt that knowing Eric was home and doing well was the best thing in the world. Then there are people like you that have to say something stupid to make it seem there is a big conspiracy. I don't really care what you say about me, My Buddy (Eric) is on the road to recovery.
