Charges on teen dropped

Investigation into Proby Road murder still ongoing

Published Saturday, November 3, 2007

NATCHEZ — The charge of murder against Brittani D. Kelly was dropped Friday.

A grand jury indicted Kelly, who was 16 years old at the time, in November for the murder of her mother, Jacqueline Thompson, 35, who was shot Sept. 24 in her house on Proby Road.

The state’s motion to drop the charges says that the case needs more investigation.

Law enforcement and the prosecution have been working on the case but just don’t have enough evidence to go to trial, District Attorney Ronnie Harper said Friday.

“The sheriff’s office worked diligently developing additional evidence,” Harper said. “But after careful consideration, and in the interest of justice, we don’t think it would be prudent to proceed to trial at this time.”

The investigation won’t stop, though, Harper said.

“(The sheriff’s office) is working it very hard,” Harper said. “I anticipate a resolution at some time, I just can’t say when.”

The charges were dropped “without prejudice,” meaning charges can be filed again against Kelly or anyone else in connection with the case.

“Nobody has been eliminated as a suspect,” Harper said.

Investigators are having a difficult time because potential witnesses are not cooperating, Sheriff Ronny Brown said.

“We had enough evidence to go to the grand jury and get an indictment,” Brown said. “Since then, some of the things we had just haven’t panned out. It’s just hard to get anything out of them. They’ve got us at a standstill right now.”

Brown said his investigators would continue to work on the case, talking with potential witnesses and gathering the evidence they can. He even sees a possible silver lining to the charges being dropped.

“This may make somebody come forward who wants to see justice done,” Brown said. “That’s what we need.”

Kelly, 17, was out on $120,000 bond, from which she will be released.

My Goodness...IF she didn't do it, or even if she did...either way there is a vicous (sp?) , cold blooded killer among us, on the loose.

Scarey stuff.

its nit scray when u know that anyone could turn into a killer and are u scared really because I mean its killer potential killer walking around everyday so are u scared everday or just because they haven't found the killer and ifthey don't are u gonna be scared for however long it takes to catch the killer? probably not! fear is a state of mind fear doesn't last and truth if people were "really scared" they'd leave natchez or wouldn't leave home!

I don't leave home unless I have to Marine. I have only been to wal-mart once in the last month. On the bright side, it has saved me some money. My kids are not allowed to play outside unless we go out of town.
As I stated on the other story... If she didn't do it, then there is a cold blooded killer that has not been caught.

Okay, all I want to know is, what happened to all the explosive evidence the authorities thought they had when they first charged Brittany with murder????

Posted by kpage1 (anonymous) on November 3, 2007 at 9:06 a.m. (Suggest removal)

That's what I want to know, Teach4Peace! The "officials" made it sound like this girl was guilty, no questions about it. They need to be a little more cautious with the next "alleged" murderer.

Something tells me this little girl may have done it. It was said her mom punished her and she got mad by killing her. I think she had forged some of mama's checks, too.

Teach4Peace same thing i was wondering...

Her mom was a wonderful person too..So sad...

I don't think an unknown killer is on the loose. It's this little girl who will probably be in class come Monday morning, hobnobbing with her little friends, giggling over some boy. Wonder how tall and bulletproof she feels now? "They can't touch me...I can do what I want."

Hey butter, you're in town this weekend? Loads of good trash has been bantered around lately. Free Britany! Lock up the Binkster! Two life sentences for that murderer! Secret, behind-closed-doors meetings that should have been public! Whew! What next?

I just remembered a Barney video my kids watched constantly...it was the purple dude Live! at Radio City Music Hall...they had a "bad" character Barney had to demonstrate his kindness to...his name was the Winkster! I laughed...Binkster....Winkster...hahahahahahaha.

I remember the Reena murder, too. They got that idiot who did it, didn't they?

I BELIVE THE PROBLEM IS WITH GRAND JURORS WHO ARE SEEKING TO INDITE SOMEONE,ARE SIMPLY JUMPING THE GUN.WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?THE GRAND JURY IS SURPOSE TO LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE AND COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS PERSON IS INNOCENT OR GUILTY IN ORDER TO HAND DOWN AN INDITMENT OR SIMPLY DROP THE CASE.THIS ISNT WHATS GOING ON.I BELIVE THE GRAND JURY ISNT INTERESTED IN JUSTICE.THEY JUST WANT TO CONVICT.ITS ALMOST AS THOUGH THE PERSON IS GUILTY TILL PROVEN INNOCENT WITH THEM.ISNT IT SURPOSE TO BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND?IF THE GRAND JURORS ARENT OR CANT DO THERE JOBS TO DELIVER JUSTICE TO THE PEOPLE,MAYBE WE SHOULD CHANGE THE SYSTEM OR THE PEOPLE REPERSENTING IT?THERES HUNDREDS OF CASES NOW THAT HAS FALSELY ACCUSED THE INNOCENT BECAUSE OF THE PATHETIC JOB GRAND JURORS DO.THESE PEOPLE ARE MORE AND MORE ASSUMEING PEOPLE ARE GUILTY AND HANDING DOWN THESE INDITMENTS WITHOUT CAUSE.THIS SLANDERS THE INNOCENT,SMERES THEYRE GOOD NAME SO TO SPEAK.THIS IS AN INJUSTICE IN ITSELF.HOW LONG WILL MISSISSIPPI KEEP CONVICTING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND SENDING THEM TO PRISON ONLY YEARS LATER TO FIND OUT THE PERSON WAS INNOCENT ALL ALONG.IF THERE IS A JUST A LITTLE DOUT THAT A PERSON MAYBE INNOCENT,AN INDITMENT SIMPLY SHOULDNT BE HANDED DOWN.THANK YOU!

The Grand Jury does not decide guilt or innocence. They only decide if there is enough evidence to take it to trial. Maybe some more evidence has come to light and needs to be examined. When they are done new charges can be filed.

not me.... i say. if you do the crime do the time or an eye for an eye.

I had a brother get in trouble years ago and my mom pulled some strings and got him out of trouble. I told her then that she messed up. She did, he was in trouble again and again. The last time she left his tail in jail. Needless to say, he hasn't been in trouble since. Tough love is what our children need.

All I can say is, you have to be icy cold and very calculating to have ALLEGEDLY murdered your mom, then be at school and participate in school functions like nothing has happened. Even if she didn't kill her mom, she seems to have been functioning pretty well under the circumstances. Being voted Ms Natchez High, etc. I know if I lost my mom at that age, I would just have been so lost and distraught begging for the authorities to find the killer! If Brittany is innocent, then someone killed this mother and is on the loose. Hmmmm.

DONT WORRY ABOUT MY UPPER CAPS DUMMY!AND AS FOR YOU JAMMIN!THE GRAND JURY DOES DECIDE GUILT OR INNOCENTS.WHAT IS THE DECIDING FACTOR THAT GIVES THE GRAND JURY ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO TAKE IT TO TRIAL OR HAND DOWN ITS INDITMENT?HUH?THE EVIDENCE THAT POINTS TOWARD GUILT HAS TO BE OVERWHELMING WHEN COMPARED TO THE EVIDENCE OF INNOCENTS.IF YOU HAVE SAY 6 POINTS THAT SHOWS INNOCENTS AND ONLY ONE POINT SHOWING GUILT THEN AN INDITMENT SHOULDNT BE HANDED DOWN.BUT IN THIS COUNTY THIS ISNT THE CASE.EVERY PERSON IS GUILTY TILL PROVEN INNOCENT.THIS IS WHY THE GRAND JURY SENDS MOST CASES TO TRIAL.THIS IS AGAINIST THE CONSTATUTION AND A WASTE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY.THE GRAND JURY SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THE JURY AT A CRIMINAL TRIAL.GUILT MUST BE PROVEN BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUT OR YOU MUST AQUITT OR FIND THE DEFENDENT NOT GUILTY.MOST CASES WOULDNT EVEN MAKE IT TO TRIAL IF THE GRAND JURY WASNT SO DAMN EGAR TO CONVICT,OR IF THEY HAD DONT THEYRE JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE.FOR AN EXAMPLE?A DEFENDENT IS CHARGED WITH MURDER.BUT THERE IS NO BODY.WHY WOULD YOU HAND DOWN AN INDITMENT FOR MURDER WITHOUT A BODY?THIS ALWAYS RAISES DOUT.THERES NO WAY I COULD CONVICT WITHOUT PROOF THAT A DEATH HAS ACCURED WITHOUT A BODY TO PROVIDE THE PROOF THAT A MURDER HAS BEEN CONMITTED.BUT SOME GRAND JURORS ARE SO DEAD SET ON CONVICTING.THAT EVEN WITHOUT A BODY THEY STILL HAND DOWN THE INDITMENT.THIS IS STUPID.THIS CASE WITH THE CHARGES BEING DROPED AGAINIST THIS TEEN SETS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF NEGLIGENTS BY THE GRAND JURY.THEY HAD MORE THAN ENEOUGH EVIDENCE TO SHOW THAT THIS TEEN MAYBE INNOCENT THEN THEY DID EVIDENCE OF GUILT.BUT THEY HANDED DOWN THE IDITMENT ANYWAY.THE SYSTEM SIMPLY DOESNT WORK.LAST YEAR ALONE IN OUR COUNTRY OVER 1600 PEOPLE WERE FOUND TO BE WRONGLY CONVICTED AND SENT TO PRISON ONLY TO HAVE THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT OVER TURN THE CONVICTION.WHY WOULD YOU PEOPLE BE SO DEAD SET ON CONVICTING THAT YOU WOULD SEND AN INNOCENT MAN TO PRISON?THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS.THESE GRAND JURORS ARE IDIOTS,LOADED WITH STUPIDITY,IGNORENCE BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED TO DEATH THAT THEY JUST MIGHT SET A GUILTY PERSON FREE THIS IS WHY THEY ALWAYS HAND DOWN AN INDITMENT EVEN IF THE EVIDENCE IS OVERWHELMINGLY SHOWING A PERSON COULD BE INNOCENT.SO SHUT UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE PEOPLE.WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The jurors is who decides if you are guilty or innocent...The ones who hand down the inditment is only saying they THINK it's enough evidence to convict a person...If it's like you are saying then there would be no need for a court...Right???

she could be out on bond, but the only place she could go was school, work and home. Guess it didn't matter she was riding the roads and going to football games and hanging out at wal-mart with her friends. I feel like she should have had her drivers license taken away. I thought you couldn't drive without an adult until you were 17 anyway. She has been driving that white car since she was 15 yrs old.

I bet she doesn't have to worry about anyone messing with her at school, now. Even the teachers are probably too skeered to give her detention. Doesn't matter if she's guilty or not, she's got that mystery surrounding her now...some folks won't ever believe she's guilty, while some won't ever believe she's innocent. But, I'd also bet she wishes she had listened to her mama, because mama won't be there to give her anymore advice...ever! Moma won't ever hug her again either. And we all know there's no one to compare with our mama.

Let's stick to the issue here and ignore all the other stuff. Is anyone here, like myself just purely baffled at how unscathed her life has been since her Mom came up dead? This just truly disturbs me. Also, someone brought up a very good point, I would have some thoughts surrounding my child attending a school with an ALLEDGED murderer. Just having that over her head would be enough for me because there is just NO evidence I have heard earlier on or lately, that proves someone else was a suspect. :(

I'm not here to judge whether she is guilty or innocent. People deal with their pain different. Maybe the best way for her to deal with ALL of this is to keep going and attempt to live a normal life. Okay she is attending school as an ALLEDGED murder, but what about the kids that your child or children go to school with that you don't know what their potential may be. They could very well be murders. Like it was stated earlier the truth will come out in the wash. If she did it, she will get whats coming to her, if she didn't then whoever did will be brought to justice. So now she should be cut completely off from society because of this? Should she just become a hermit and live lock in a house for good? What if another child at school get mad and kill? Innocent until proven guilty....some of you have already tried, convicted her, and sentenced her to life. Like I stated earlier, the truth will come out. Judging from what I have been reading and hearing about going on in NTZ, there is no telling how many murders/potential murders are walking around there.

The original articles about this murder say the girl was in the house and was raped by the intruder during the time her mother was killed. Did the girl get raped or not? If she did...who did the DNA match? If she wasn't raped...who was she caught having sex with? Why would she scream rape after her mother is murdered, if she wasn't raped, unless her mother caught her in the act with someone?

JUNKYARDDAWG?THE ALLIGATIONS SURROUNDING THIS CASE IS NULL AND VIOD MY FRIEND.THE PROSICUTER SIMPLY DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO SURPORT A MURDER CONVICTION.SHE WILL NOT BE BROUGHT UP ON CHARGES OF MURDER AGAIN.NOW IF THEYRE NEW CHARGES FILED.THEY WILL BE ALOT LESS THAN MURDER I GRANT YOU THAT.SHE DIDNT KILL HER MOTHER,BUT SHE MIGHT KNOW WHO DID.AND SHE WASNT RAPED EITHER,CAUSE NO CHARGES HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP ON ANYONE SURROUNDING THIS CASE.

I AM NOT convicting anyone! I just think it is so strange, that like you said SUPER, the grand jury OBVIOUSLY did not examine the evidence and rushed to have someone indicted WITHOUT even so much as looking into if someone else was the culprit. That is what I find disturbing as well. These people immediately go after her without so much as even looking into if others have been involved?! Seems to me SUPER, they convicted her before trying her as innocent or guilty.

As for her being a hermit, I have not indicated she should be a hermit, and yes, people DO handle tragedy differently, but I don't know many people who could have a mother murdered and just bounce back so quickly. Yes, she should go on with her life as you have suggested, but again, somethings amiss here. Yes, things do have a tendancy to come out in the wash.

Posted by JunkyardDawg (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 9:25 a.m. (Suggest removal)

supertrucker, do you not believe it to be suspicious that the girl would claim to be attacked and raped (during her mother's death), if she wasn't? Why did she do that?

AND PEACE YOU SAID YOU WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CHILD ATTENDING SCHOOL WITH AN ALLEDGED MURDERER.WHYS THAT?YOUVE CONVICTED HER THATS WHY.THIS GIRL IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY BOTTOM LINE.AND SHE WILL NOT BE BROUGHT UP ON MURDER CHARGES AGAIN.I KNOW HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS.THE CHARGES CAN ONLY GO DOWN NOW NOT UP.AND ACEDOG YOUR RIGHT SIR.BUT THESE PEOPLE DONT SEEM TO GET IT.THEY WOULD RATHER SEND AN INNOCENT PERSON TO PRISON JUST TO GET A CONVICTION AND CLOSE THE CASE,RATHER THAN DOING A VERY CLEAN INVESTIGATION.I DONT THINK ADAMS COUNTY ARE CAPIBLE OF SOLVEING MURDERS.THE ICEMAN CASE IS STILL ON GOING.THE PROSTITUTE KILLED BEHIND THE THE PAPERMILL IS STILL OPENED.AND 2 DRIVE BY SHOOTINGS HAVENT BEED SOLVED YET.THE CRIME RATE IN NATCHEZ HAS SKY ROCKETED SENCE KATRINA AND LAW INFORCEMENT IS DOING NOTHING.

JUNKYARD???YES SUSPICIOUS,BUT THATS ALL.THAT DOESNT MEAN SHE KILLED HER MOTHER.YES THERE IS A MOTIVE BEHIND HER LIEING ABOUT BEING RAPED.MAYBE IT WAS TO COVER THE TRACKS OF SOMEONE ELSE.BUT I WONT JUMP TO ANY CONCLUSIONS AND CONVICT THIS GIRL ON JUST RUMORS AND ALLEGATIONS.THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE SHE IS GUILTY OF AT THIS POINT IS PERGERY,LIEING TO POLICE.AND MAYBE UBSTRUCTING JUSTICE OR MAYBE CONSPIRITSY TO COMMITT MURDER.I JUST DONT KNOW.BUT IN MY HEART AT THIS TIME SHE IS INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY.SO UNTIL THEY PROVE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUT IN COURT THAT SHE IS GUILTY.THEN TO ME SHE IS INNOCENT AND THE STATE DONT HAVE A CASE.WHAT IF THIS WERE ONE OF YOU?I BET YOU WOULD BE THINKING DIFFERENT IF YOU WERE ACCUSED AND WAS INNOCENT.THINK ABOUT IT.

Jackie was murdered Sept. 24th 2006 in her bedroom as she slept. She was shot execution style and found in a fetal position. Her daughter, Brittani, age 16 at the time alledged that she was sexually assaulted by one of the intruders. Now, she stated that it was two masked men who broke into her home. She also stated that when she awoke they were standing over her bed and also put a pillow over her head. Why didn't they find out who raped her or was she ever raped? And if she lied why weren't charges brought against her for obstruction of justice. If she wasn't raped then who let the intruders in the house. Surely not Jackie because remember Jackie was asleep in her bed. Brittani had to have let them in or had given them a key. Could this intruder be her father who Brittani constantly complained to about her mother taking away her car and cell phone? What about some of the things she said to her friends at school, "If that ditzy bitch don't give me my keys back I'm going to kill her". What about all the checks she stole from her mother and family members? Now they say, her dad is on the loose end of the barrel. Could father and daughter have committed this heinous crime together so Brittani could have her freedom? FATHER-DAUGHTER kill MOTHER/EX-WIFE!! Or did they hire a hit man? How can any of you sleep at night knowing that this loving mother died trying to be a good mother?
Many people who attended the funeral stated that this child never stopped smiling at her mother's funeral. It was also noted that the father walked the dirt road with his head down. Could it be that he was grieving or scared to death that someone would find out what truly happened to Jackie on that fateful night? She was murdered as she slept. I say we need to find justice for Jackie. This case should not be closed. The Kelly Family needs to step up to the plate and help the Adams-County Sheriff's Office solve this murder if they loved Jackie like they say they did. It is clear to me they did not love their daughter, sister, friend, mother because if they did they would do all they could to find this cold blooded murderer. If Brittani did not kill her mother surely she knows who did it. I say check the father or the father's friends.
I'm sad because I knew Jackie in life and she was a beautiful lady. She loved her kids and her family and everyone loved Jackie. What kind of message are we sending to the community? That people can kill and don't have to suffer the consequences. People please start sounding off now. Let's get behind the sheriff's office and the district attorney's office to help solve Jackie's murder. Let's speak up now because Jackie is crying from her grave saying please bring my murderers to justice. She deserves this because she was a very special person to family and friends alike that wouldn't harm the hair on anyone's head. I say COME ON COMMUNITY, LET THE TELEPHONES START RINGING AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

She was killed in her bed while she slept? What time of day was it when she was shot? Where was her current husband at the time of the murder?

If Brittney wasn't raped, but claimed to be raped...they would still have done a swab at the hospital and would have obtained DNA, unless the rapist wore protection. If there was no rape...why hasn't that been reported in the Democrat as false information? If they did find DNA suggesting there was a rape, or at least that she did have a relation that day, who did the DNA belong to?

Has the weapon been identified? Who did the weapon belong to? Has the bullet been checked against other bullets used to committ crimes in this area?

If Brittney is protecting someone, then she should know that she cares more for them than they do for her. The person she is protecting was willing to allow her to go to prison and perhaps even get the death penalty. The person she is protecting doesn't care about Brittney at all or they would have confessed the moment Brittney was arrested. Perhaps, Brittney's bail should have been set higher so that she couldn't get out of jail. After more time sitting in jail, she would have realized that the person she is taking the rap for really doesn't love her.

Yes, Jackie was killed in her bed as she slept. Her body was found in a fetal position. She never awoke. The sheriff's office received a call around 12:50 that morning. Check the Democrat for the approx. time. Her husband was at work during the time of her murder. His alibi was checked out and it corroborated with his employer. No the weapon has not been found or identified yet. I say check the father because he had more to lose than anybody. My question is "How six or seven hours after she was found murdered people were able to trample in and out of the house?" First of all, Brittani should not have been let out on bond and should have stayed in jail until her court date.

Posted by JunkyardDawg (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 12:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

taledatruth, was Brittani the only one home with her mother at the time of the murder? Is Brittani the person who called the police and reported the murder? Are there any other kids living in the home? Was Brittani an only child? Why do you think the ex- husband is the only one who has the most to lose? Why would he wait 8 years after she marries someone else to murder her? Why do you think the ex would want to murder her? Were Jackie and her ex-husband in a custody battle? Had Jackie and her ex had any recent arguments? Who was Brittani dating? Was her mother trying to stop her from seeing this person? Had Brittani and her mother had any recent disagreements?

Posted by JunkyardDawg (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Ok, so the obituary reads as if there is no ex-husband...Jackie was a Kelly, her mother is a Kelly, and Brittani is a Kelly...so there was no marriage between Brittani's mother and father. So the ex is an old boyfriend and not a husband?

Posted by taledatruth (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 1:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Junkyarddawg,no Britiani was not the only person home at the time of this murder. I was told that Jackie's baby son was at home also. Why didn't the killer harm the son of Jackie? I am not sure who called the Sheriff Office. The ex has the most to gain because the child was feeding him all kinds of mess about her mother. Also, I think they were locked into a child support battle and he did not want to pay the support. Why would he wait 8 years because again, he did not want to pay support. Yes, I believe the ex kept confusion between the child and the mother. I also believe the ex can be an ax murderer because he is stone crazy. Many people will say that they did have recent arguments about child support , car, cell phone, and running the streets.I do not know who this child was dating. I believe she was dating someone the family did not want her to date.Read all the other comments everyone is saying the same thing im saying and I still say why are we overlooking the child's father. He had the most to gain because he wanted the child and didn't want to pay the support.

TALEDATRUTH???COMING UP WITH DIFFERENT WAYS THIS MURDER TOOK PLACE WILL NOT BRING JUSTICE TO THE VICTIM OR THE DEFENDENT.YOU MAY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CASE AND SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE.THE TRUTH IS THE PROSICUTER DROPED THE CHARGES CAUSE THERE WAS SURPORTING EVIDENCE THAT THIS GIRL DIDNT MURDER HER MOM.WETHER SHE WANTED TO OR NOT,OR WETHER SHE SAID SHE WOULD OR NOT,ISNT AN ADMITTANCE OF GUILT ON HER PART.SUSPICIOUS YES.THEY KNOW SHE LIED.BUT THEY ALSO KNOW SHE DIDNT DO IT.SHE WASNT THE TRIGGER MAN SO TO SPEAK.NOW LIKE IT OR NOT CHARGES IF BROUGHT UP WILL BE ALOT LOESS THAN MURDER.THIS INVESTIGATION IS STILL ON GOING.AND THIS GIRL WAS NEVER RAPED SO FORGET IT.NO CHARGES HAS BEEN FILED AGAINIST ANYONE FOR RAPE AND THEY NEVER WILL.THIS GIRL IS INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW EVEN THOUGH YOUVE FOUND HER GUILTY ALREADY SIR.FURTHER MORE SHE HAS COMMITTED PERGERY.THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE MOTIVE BEHIND THE LIES IM SURE.IT IS HOWEVER POSSIBLE SHE IS A CONSPIRITOR.BUT ITS NOT FOR US TO JUDGE.SHE IS INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY.AND THE LIKELYHOOD OF MORE CHARGES COULD VERY WELL COME AT A LATER DATE.SO PLEASE YOU PEOPLE STOP TRYING TO CONVICT PEOPLE ON ALLEGATIONS AND RUMORS.IF THIS WERE YOUR BUTTS IN THE HOT SEAT YOUD BE LOOKING AT THIS FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE IM SURE.

you are all right on some points. Brittani dad has commented that brittani AND the mother were raped. I have read no where about the mother. So, how does he konw this? He also stated that a rape test was done on brittani.

Could he have done this? Yes...how do i know..because i have been threaten by him, that he can't lose his kids. he rides around drinking vodka and pops pills ALL the time. I have never seen the kids buckled up properly and the baby hardly ever was strapped in.

John (the father) has always been known to chase after underage white girls and use threat techniques to keep their parents from doing anything.

Ask around if you don't believe me....

Crazynms. you are correct. I think this creep shouldp be invetigated. How did he know Jackie was raped.????????????????????????????????This man is scarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Did this man enter Jackie residence on Proby road with a key given to him by someone? or, did someone let him in? Come on community since the Sheriff office need help , please speak up .

What is John's last name? Does John have any prior arrests?

Posted by Peace007 (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 5:44 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Oh btw, Brittani was old enough to say who she wanted to live with, and John was almost through paying child support to her moma...just a couple more years and Brittani is 18. Most child support ends at 18 unless specified otherwise in court papers. John would have to be daffy to believe that by murdering the moma, his child support would end. Nope, in most cases, he would have to pay out more to take care of a child if she lived with him full time.

Taledatruth, thanks for your posts, one of the few sound ones. Yes, the charges were dropped, but your first post brings about the very questions I STILL have about this case, regardless to the charges being dropped. It is the true the real victim in this case, can't be brought back, that is the sadness in all this mess.

Posted by Peace007 (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 5:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

taledatruth, why would the killer murder a sleeping woman and leave an awake witness? Especially one that he had raped. Doesn't make sense.

Posted by Crazynms (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 7:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

In ms you have to pay child support until the child is 21. Unless they are out on their own. The child was living with him and he kicked her out because she didn't want to help pay for her Insurance and cell phone bill.

Posted by Crazynms (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 8:06 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes, I am sure. My ex had to pay child support until the child was 21. The only way you don't is if the child quits school, moves out on their own or gets a full time job.

You are legally responsible for your child in the state of Mississippi until they turn 21 or you get them emancipated

Crazynms,I still say that John Butler who works for the City is very much a person of interest in this case. Please do not let this case be stored in the "COLD FILE". Jackie Kelly died by the murderous hands of a cold hearted calculating killer and a conspirator, who aiso is a cold hearted person. I still say the child and the father knows what is going on in this case. Again, Who had more to gain except the child and the father. For Britatini it was freedom to love all over town. For her dad, it was freedom from child support in which he probably was not paying poor Jackie anyway. Also, someone spoke earlier about him running after young girls and making threats. I brlieve in this case and if I was a detective, I would be running his ass day and night. Someone inside that house let the murder or murders in the house to kill Jackie.

Posted by JunkyardDawg (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 11:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

taledatruth I think the previous articles said there was evidence that the house had been broken into. Was that false information too? The girl wasn't raped and the killer was let in by someone while the mother slept? What age is the brother? How many kids does the girl's dad have and by how many different women?

Posted by jammin1 (anonymous) on November 4, 2007 at 11:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

taledatruth, do you also recall that tv interview they did of the dad in his yard at home, where he emphatically denied his daughter's connection to her mom being murdered? I remember that look in his face, the look of someone who knows something, but trying hard to convince others they don't. All I know is, this woman is dead and someone killed her. I agree, this SHOULD NOT go the way of a cold case.

ok, just read all the media on democrat site. What about the forgery charges? Have they been dropped. If not why is it taking so long to do something. It also stated that others in jail for murder were not allowed to bond out. Why was she allowed to bond out? Is is because his family has ties with phillip west and other higher ups in Natchez.?

Also, what about the street rumor that she called her dad first and he told her to wait before she called the cops. I heard they didn't call until 5 or 6 hours later.

Posted by JunkyardDawg (anonymous) on November 5, 2007 at 8:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Why was Brittani attempting to cash forged checks? Did she owe money to anyone (you know like a drug dealer or someone like that)? According to the articles, she got in trouble for forging checks in September too...the same month her moma was shot. Is it possible that her mother was shot by someone who, either thought that it was Brittani, or as a warning to Brittani? Aren't gunshots to the head an execution type of shooting? I think it would be interesting to analyze the bullet that killed the mother with the bullets in some of the other recent shootings...such as the shooting at Village Square Apts, and the one of the 19 year old boy in (August?) that they thought was related.

I still find it very strange that Brittani claimed she was raped. I mean c'mon, surely she doesn't need the drama of turning her mother's murder into...I'm the victim here...so do a rape kit on me while moma's lying in the morgue. Did they do a polygraph on Brittani?

Why wouldn't a person cooperate in the death investigation of their mother? Why wouldn't that person want their mother's death to be solved? Fear?

If Brittani has information that would help solve her mother's death, it would be in her best interest to tell the police whatever she knows. If she is in danger, the police can protect her. If she doesn't trust the police to keep here safe here in Natchez, she could contact the FBI.

these young girls will do anything to protect the ones they "THINK" love them. I listened in on my daughters phone conversation one time when she was talking to her friend. The friend told my daughter that John said " you can't tell anyone, I can't lose my kids, you can't let me go to jail. do you hear me". I was like, omg, I called her parents and I know they are doing what they can to keep her safe. But when a pervert is in pursuit, and the child just turned 18, it is a battle everyday, I am sure.

buttercup, sometimes I wonder about the evidence they used against William...it's strange to me, the guy held on to that for 12 years, and only produced it when he was in trouble for drug charges himself. There was no DNA on it...so how do they know the guy wasn't just trying to save himself by turning evidence on William? Anyway, was that guy charged with accessory after the fact or with obstructing justice for not coming forward sooner?

Anyway, buttercup, it doesn't make sense to me that if a person kills someone that they would take incriminating evidence to their friend to keep for them, especially when they could throw it in the woods that surrounded where they were living, or in the river that runs through the woods. How do they know the weapon wasn't used by the guy that held on to it for all those years? Did they give him a polygraph?

What about the conversation someone had on the phone about John threatening someone not to tell on him.Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sound like this man could be the trigger man in Jackie's case.I am still trying to figure out how did he come up with the assumpion that Jackie was raped with his daughter? Day 1, when Britani was arrested, this man stayed at the jail house trying to keep Britani head together, so she would not break down and tell something. I too, wonder why was these charges never brought to court on Britini?I believe someone called the TY crew to Natchez.Who is Super Trucker? Could he be a person of interest? I think a reward should be offered for anyone having any information on this murder. I also think it should be set at $10.000. How do you raise that kind of money to bring jackie killer or killers to justice. I do not think it had to do with drugs. I believe it was the dad and daughter.

Those people on Proby road know something. Whats stopping the same person from killing them? NOTHING, if the killer is on the loose he can blow their heads off as well as mine or yours. At that time of night, someone say a vehicle and someone knows where the gun came from. Do they check with pawn shops and see if any weapons have been sold within a few weeks of a murder? Or sold to them?

Very excellent points and questions, crazy & tale. It would be nice to get answers to some of these questions. I'm very curious as to why no parent's have turned him in for these alleged rapes? You bet your fanny that if my child had been raped, there would be no soul that could scare me into dropping charges and doing what's right. If they had and he did indeed kill this woman, they could have saved her life. The whole thing is a tragedy. I still can't believe a parent would know of this and not turn him in.

(i know it takes two to tang go.. that's why i thank both mom and murder)the "MAN" that turned in WILLIAM was his on brother! and yea he did it to safe himself from a LOOONG TIME IN PRISON HIMSELF! i feel SOO BAD FOR THE TWO CHILDREN NOW ADULTS THAT WHERE ROBBED BY ALL THIS! RENA'S TWO DAUGHTERS.... MATTER FACT IF YOU LOOK IN RECORDS TODAY THE OLDEST DAUGHTER WAS JUST PICKED UP ON CHARGES... IT'S SAD! THEIR MOM WAS STOLEN FROM THEM AND NO DAD! i could write a book on this... and thanks but no thanks! if i never look into WILLIAM DAVIS EYES AGAIN IT WILL STILL BE TOO SOON!

(((buttercup))), In that case, it's a wonder that you can still LOL. I'm glad you can. I didn't know either one of them very well, so I didn't know about your mom. I knew Rena from when the kids were in elementary school and we would both be waiting for school to let out, and sometimes William would be with her to pick them up. I hope your mom is ok, now. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that in your life. I wonder why they didn't charge him with murder of the fetus Rena was carrying? Or did they? I don't think it said so in the old article. I did see that report on his daughter, just a few minutes earlier, right before I noticed your reply. Were you ever close to his girls? I've always worried about them, and hoped they would be ok. (Silent prayer for the girls).

((((JUNKYARDDAWG)))) i have learned if i don't 'LOL' about stuf then i'll just always be mad about it! and that's not fun! As far as ole MOM goes!! yea... she knew she was doing a no no! ha! i don't know why they didn't charge him for the murder of the fetus she was carrying! they were probably just glad they were finally able to actually tie him to the murder!! i mean he tried burning that house on mcneely rd down soo many times!! once or twice with her still in it! now that i'm older i wish i would've tried to ahve some kind of relationship with them two girls... they could've used it.. ugh!! it just hurts knowing all this info and how i acted towards them growing up!!

Has the topic changed or what!? You do make a good point Sayitloud. Supertucker may know something we don't know but then again he/she could be just like us strongly appointing opinions. Anyway someone needs to look at this like us. We seem to be doing better than them.

Supertrucker went into hiding if you ask me....opened his mouth and put his foot in it and now he is silent. Haven't seen any posts from him since we caught onto him.

well we know or presume that supertrucker is the killer but not sure if it is a he or a she but if it is a man I'm going to assume it is the baby daddy....what about you Teravon?

Posted by Teravon (anonymous) on November 8, 2007 at 9:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

From my sources and what i've read on here, I really think its the FATHER also. Did the father bring up something about her being raped in an interview?

Posted by buttercup26 (anonymous) on November 9, 2007 at 9 a.m. (Suggest removal)

(((junkyard)))) i was going over the comments (i'm bored ha) and you said something about not understanding the evidence... it does seem kind of just wierd huh? and all i can piece together is, the last time my parents got into trouble with 'drugs' they snithced on william's brother well his brother startedhaving to deal with the law har then.. the law wasn't letting up on him because they knew who he was and who his brother was... and it took for those 2 girls to grow up and not be afraid of their daddy or grandfather (on williams side) it was like when the youngest daughter went into the sun shine shelter for not having any where to go and just being down right SCARED OF WHAT FAMILY SHE HAD LEFT IS WHEN PIECES OF THE PUZZLE STARTED TO SLOWLY come TOGETHER.... so it makes me wonder if maybe the kids knew more then what they wanted??? there was also another man that was being looked at for a while!! a sugar daddy (a very OLD sugar daddy) but i think they got the right man that did it!!

Posted by sayitloud (anonymous) on November 9, 2007 at 10:35 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Teravon, I don't know if it was the father that brought that up or someone else but did I also read where he may have raped some young white girls? He does think he a ladies man.

TERAVON?IVE SAID MY PEACE ON THIS MATTER.YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.DONT BELIVE NOTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE COMING FROM ANY MEDIA SORCE OR LAWINFORCMENT.

Posted by Crazynms (anonymous) on November 10, 2007 at 2:19 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't know if you could call it rape. It would be more like molesting.

ok...I asked my daughter to find out if his daughter has a computer. I don't believe he has the ability to work a computer. Anyway, his daughter had a laptop, the police took it and supposedly has not given it back to her yet.

STUPERTRUCKER47.... so you are saying to not believe what we hear and only half of what we read..

hhmmm does that mean that her little brother did it???

or that the woman decided to shot herself in the face and put a spell on the gun to disappear 5 min after she shot herself???

Was she having an affair?

Was John molesting his daughter? (rumor from the neighbors)

Is this enough thinking outside the box ???

Can you give us a few clues??

Posted by sayitloud (anonymous) on November 10, 2007 at 9:11 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Crazynms I'm with you!! Supertrucker is at it again.....making NO SENSE as usual! I think supertrucker is the father and ALSO the killer and trying to sway us from the truth.
not going to happen

Posted by Teravon (anonymous) on November 10, 2007 at 9:39 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Supertrucker what do you mean don't believe what we hear and half of the media? Everyone can't be at the scene of the crime like some................. whoever that may be...................

Posted by Crazynms (anonymous) on November 10, 2007 at 3:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey supertrucker know anyone who is like this??? If you do, kill them now....

He is a smooth talker, which is fine. But dang man find someone who is not your daughters age to lie to.
There is something seriously wrong with a man who only dates young

immature innocent girls who are not wise to the lies men tell just

to get them in bed. Is is because they hang on to every word he

says. Is it because the child is looking for that unconditional

love that they bestow upon them until he gets them under his thumb.

Alienates them from all friends and family and makes their self esteem so low, they feel like it is all them and they should appreciate how he takes care of them and has taken them out of a
house were their parents were being mean and not letting them be a grown up????

Young ladies PLEASE.... This is just a pervert, molester, basically a FATHER-DADDY who wants to ------ u and make you his slave. If this sounds sick to you then good because it is and it is the TRUTH.

More girls need to hear about these older men who give them money and every thing they want. Why, because he is nice, he just wants to be your friend, he says you are beautiful and you deserve beautiful things. DONT TAKE MONEY FROM STRANGE MEN!

Well baby girl, his friends should be his own age, not his childrens age. You are beautiful and you do deserve the best, but not at the expense of your youth being taken away from you.

Just because creesha, corvette, sally and sterilite are sleeping with older men and have money and nice things doesn't mean it is right and you have to do it to.

You are NOT the only one he "loves" and you are NOT the only one he "thinks" about. When you kiss, sleep, oral or whatever.. you are also doing over half of natchez. It won't happen to you right.....

ok, let me know if 10 years, make that 5 years if he is still around and how many kids does he have and by how many woman and what kind of STD did he pass around. Some of these you won't know for a while. Herpes, genital warts ( which has no cure) and you will find out about in a general doctors office visit.

The statistics are there for you to make an informed decision about YOUR life. WHY would you let SOME GUY make a decision about YOUR life, that could end it or make it to where another guy won't touch you.

Young ladies... Does he take you in public, do you go to his parents house, do you go to church together? Yes, he may take you to his homeboys crib, but that is because they are doing the same thing. O wait.... he wants to be alone with you and no one will understand the way he feels for you.

OK WAKE UP...you want to be grown up???? make a grown up decision and put that sob, molesting, pervert, pedophile behind bars, so he can't hurt anyone else. That my darling, will get more trust than you know from your parents and every one around.

your welcome... I just wish it could be where more young ladies and girls could read it.

That message was very much needed! Everyone i believe Supertrucker has left us!

Posted by taledatruth (anonymous) on November 14, 2007 at 11:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Crazynms, We all know what is going on here. Supertrucker, is no doubt Jackie's killer. Why is he so offensive about everything? He was the first person to say Jackie Kelly was raped. Sound very strange to me.
