Jefferson County running back Jermaine Clark breaks through the Wilkinson County defense for a touchdown Friday night. Jefferson County defeated Wilkinson County 41-6.
Tigers claw Wilkinson
Published Saturday, November 3, 2007
WOODVILLE — The well-oiled machine that is the Jefferson County Tigers purred like a kitten as they rolled over Wilkinson County 41-6.
Wilkinson County was doomed from the start when quarterback Javarius Jenkins fumbled the opening snap on their own 19.
Three plays later, Jefferson County running back Jermaine Clark punched in on a 5-yard run.
“We shot ourselves in the foot from the start,” Wilkinson County head coach John Moore said.
Wilkinson County didn’t gain a positive yard in the first quarter due to a vicious Tiger defense.
“We have worked hard all season and our effort has been great,” Jefferson County head coach James Herrington said.
The Wildcats put their best drive of the first half together after an incident broke out between the opposing teams on the sideline, but the drive stalled on the 6-yard line.
“We should have scored a few times,” Moore said. “But this is the way it’s gone all year.”
Back up quarterback for the Tigers, Jeffery Collins, ended the first half by throwing a 17-yard pass to Henry Nichols to give the Tigers a 27-0 lead.
The second half didn’t fair much better for the Wildcats.
The Tigers marched down the field and scored on Collins’ second touchdown pass of the night to Nichols.
Wilkinson County again put together a long drive that ran out of gas and gave the ball back to Jefferson County on a failed fourth down conversion.
After holding the Tigers on a fourth down attempt, they got two big passes from Jenkins. One went for 25 yards and the other a 35-yard pass to wide receiver Curtis McFarland to put the Wildcats on the 1.
The Tigers forced a fumble a recovered it on the 11 to end Wilkinson County’s hopes of scoring.
But the Wildcats were not about to give up. The Tigers were stringing together another drive when Collins threw an ill advised pass that was picked off by Delvin Fosselman and returned 35 yards for a touchdown and the only score the Wildcats would get.
“You have to take your hats off to these guys,” Moore said. “They hung in there to the end.”
Jefferson County tacked on another six points with four minutes left on a 41-yard scramble by Collins.
“This team works extra hard,” Herrington said. “I’ve told them all year long that when you work hard, good things happen. It paid off this season.”
The Tigers finish second in Region 7-3A will host their first playoff game in school history next Friday night.

Well what do you know those TIGERS did it again. Congrats on the win guys we have a big task ahead of us come next friday hosting a playoff game. Winning next week would be a great way to show the state and all non believers that Jefferson County Football is a force to be reckoned with. I beleive in you guys, the community is behind you and believe you guys can go far and win it all. Lets bring home a championship to Fayette,MS. Remember you just have to take it one game at a time. Way to step up J. Collins, you came through when your team needed you. Where you at concernedalum? You know what you have the right name but u shoulda been concerned 5 or 6 years ago. I guess you have nothing to say since ntz didn't win. Going to make eleven years in a row huh? But you all can continue to see some good football, just head on up HWY 61, you know where we are, its not that far. Come on and show your support for some winners. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!! P.S. That hardwood ain't gonna be any better!

Must be nice to finally be able to say your team actually "won something" huh? I wasnt go say nothing BJ1979, but you forced me to back my BULLDOGS here. First playoff game in school history, huh? At least Natchez has tasted the playoffs two or three times since we been Natchez High. Natchez has only been one big high school only since 1990. How long has JC been sitting in that "Hole In The Wall" on the side of 61 North? A long time I know. I see why yall like that song so much. Its describes yall to a T!!!! Lets go to the "Hole in the Wall". Nah, I'll pass. I only stop through there to stretch my legs and get a fill up on my way out the state. Man please!!! Dont even try to come correct on us now. Especially since J.C. football has been "gone with the wind" since the program has even been a program at all. Keep in mind. Yall only beat us "ONE TIME". --In school history.-- Im sure thats something to be proud of. So when yall can finally tie the win-loss ratio in all athletics between the us, then maybe,,,just maybe..... you can come talk to me. Maybe then, us Natchez folks might consider thinking about whether or not yall a threat. Then again. I think not. Dont even waste ur time. Thats ok. Natchez-Fayette next year. Well see whos talking then. Same thing to Franklin County. I aint heard no gargling garbage talk from them since they lost to Fayette. I aint forgot about them either. Just so you know, I do plan on following the Fayette game too. Win or lose, dont dont matter. I still back my BULLDOGS. Bottom line, people seem to develop a new found respect for us every week so keep talking. Im right there with you.

No Tron... this isn't our first playoff game... we've been to the playoffs like 4 out of the last 5 years... this is just our first time hosting a playoff game. And the same applies for us... we gain respect week by week. I remember how everyone was pissing on us and calling our first game ( JC vs Ntz) a fluke. And that we just got lucky, we're "ONLY" a small mediocre program with a mediocre team at best... We may not be a perennial power house, but we have been consistent for the last 5-7 years. And this 2007-08 team boasts a level of discipline and talent that no other JC football team has ever had, collectively. With a great coaching staff too... Now i know you all are just salivating at the possibility of the Havoc your Freshman quaterback may wreak on JC and other teams for the next few years... but those years aren't here yet... And if you want to put wins vs losses together... would that include the middle school too?? JCJH has like 4 0r 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS in the last 7 or 8 years ( Shout out to coach C) They just finished an undefeated season. And we actually hold the Junior High state record for most points scored in a game... 88 ... and guess what?? it came against Ntz... back in the 01-02 season (88-8)... and I knw somebody gne come up and say that Middle school don't count, but athletics is athletics, competition is competition... It counts... If you were to say that... that's just like saying that high school football don't count compared to the pros or the collegiate level. So the total win- loss ratio isn't as bad as you may think...
any way...(back to now), I'm tired of this bickering, fussing, and trash talk. Ok, we beat NTZ this year... the game is over, yea this has been a historical season for JC... but we gotta move on and aim for higher, bigger, and better victories. And Even though we are rivals, it's till like we are brothers. NTZ= the big brother, JC= the Little brother... we all know the story, the big brother is better, bigger, stronger, and usually has the upper hand... but a day will come in which the little brother will grow up and Pimp slap his bigger brother, and gain some respect from him. That happened this season.... BUT.... we are still brothers, next door neighbors, comrades, friends, and even family that simply share a nice good clean hatred towards each other.. nuthin serious, just a sibling rivalry. So the fight for this year is over, now lets just be good bros and give each other some support...
And by the way... is NTZ going to be able to slip n the playoffs?? or is it over?? What's the status??

I love my Tigers and would follow them if they were 0/100 cause I gave my blood, sweat and tears on that same field. We are just happy and proud to see the succeed where we didn't. Just like proud parents. You know what Topdawg42 its amazing that after that 88-8 middle school win over ntz they wouldnt play us in high school for the next couple of years check your records. Now who's scared of who?

And come to think about it... that's the honest truth... they actually didn't play us again until like 4 or 5 years later

Congratulation Tigers on a great season. But,your task has just begun. Its playoff time. This is a different type of ball we got to play. You are going to have to be extremely disipline. We are facing a team that we havent seen this year. So this week we got to have the best practices ever. There is no place for playing around. Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize. And this is just a couple words of advice. NEVER BE SATISFIED. The world dont owe you anything. You got to get up and get it. Hats off to our coaches for the wonderful job they have done with our team. I havent missed a game this year and dont plan on missing next week. LETS GO GET'UM TIGERS. LETS LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD FRIDAY. My opinion is that we need to wear them down with our two backs. We have a thunder and lighting backfield(Clark and Tenner). And then after we have worn them down spread them out and let Trell or Collins pick them apart. We have some real good recievers also (Gray,Nichols,Smith, Day). And last but not least I want to give props to our scrappy defense. Everybody meet at the ball. Good luck and God bless you guys.

I stand corrected on my choice of words from my rush to type the comment. Thanks Topdawg and BJ1979. I apologize there. Omit that from the earlier discussion.
Now, on to the more interesting comment you made. 88-8 huh? Duly noted. It happens. But to say that we didnt play yall because of that....I doubt that was the case. Nice try though. Way to go!!!.... on going way-back-when- like that!!! Shows your effort to speak up on what you know.
-----Topdawg. No need to try to pile-drive me with sharpness over my friendly rival comment to BJ1979 to back my DAWGS.
Lack of respect for your program or anything there-of isnt even an issue with me. I comment the way I do because win or lose, I know that, honestly, I humble myself to both sides. I said what I said out of friendly rivalry as an ex Natchez player, but not out of meaness and disrespect. So dont take it as such. But Im sure that you all know that me being mean is not the case here. On that note, and just so you know, Im actually glad that somebody on 61 will HOST a playoff game at home. Thats a good feeling for yall, Im sure. Good luck and my hat goes off once again to the Tigers in their efforts to move on to playing in Jackson. Good job earlier in the year on shaking things up in Meadville. They had to win last night to make it in too. That was definitely an eye-opener for them. Read thier story and you'll see why I say this.
On the play-off note: I know yall can do it. This year looks to be the year for yall to to ride high. I wouldnt be surprised if yall crossed paths with Frankllin County again.

Hi TRON601, I think I know who you are and I think you played football in high school. A couple of years ago, you broke your ankle playing semi-pro, right (smile). Thank you for your support and I agree with you all the way, it's nice for someone from Hwy 61 to be in the running.
If I am right about who you are, let me know.

Congrats to the Tigers.
Yes TRON601, I am sure the JC Tigers and the FC Bulldogs will cross paths again. Good Luck to both teams. However, if they do meet again I don't think it will be a repeat.
Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Classy Lady: No, it didnt play semi-pro. And gladly I didnt break my ankle. But thanks for the happy thought. Would've been nice...
But all in all, I think that the Tigers will do well in the play-offs. I been following the Tigers since Ernest was playing. That should give you a hint about me. You might have seen me at the Fish Market from time to time. Those are my peoples. You won't get my face right off.
To the Tigers and fans: Good Luck Friday night because I come to town ever so often.

You know there are some great people in Jefferson county ! But this is for the fools and idiots from JC that post here . You definitely make it hard for people to like JC . Eventually you'll have people from this whole area rooting against your team . Whose fault will it be , yours . Stop all the trash talking ! Beating Natchez can't be that great , or was it . You people are still harping about that win . Like I said earlier , beating Natchez was the absolute high lite of your season . Country boys and country pimps of JC , stop all the trash talking and making enemies for JC . If you get beat you'll have a bunch of people from the whole SW Miss. area rubbing your faces in it . You can tell people who aren't used to success . Just let it go . And pray that you don't lose because you are definitely making bad blood for JC .

Mr. Justice, I have been waiting to hear from you. Previously, I submitted a comment congratulating JC on their win. You responded by stating that I raised a bunch of loser kids and that my response can be expected because I am a woman...
What happened in your lifetime that has caused you to become so angry? These are proud parents, students, friends and family members expressing their congrats to a football team that have work hard to get where they are. Can they have those moments? Why should they have to defend who they are? They have proven that. And they did that by beating Natchez at the beginning of the season. And yes, it was that great. It was not the high lite of their season because Natchez is not in their district. It’s called BRAGGING RIGHTS. So for this year, guess what, Natchez bulldogs have to BOW DOW.
And as for Fools and Idiots, they are all around us. I am certain, at one time or another, those same words applied to you. You even go on to refer to JC as you people. You sound just like them. But one thing is for certain, if they are country boys and country pimps in JC you best believe apples don’t fall far from the tree and you are that tree.
So guess what Justice, with or without you, JC continues to shine. Whether they win or lose, WE ARE PROUD PEOPLE. If Natchez is in the playoff, I wish them the best. There is no division. Natchez is home to all of us.
Oh! And by the way, if by chance you encounter my children, they will still have respect for you. I am raising two beautiful strong black females with the credentials to back it up. HOLLOW!!! From the ATL. GO TIGERS!!!

I guess natchez people are little more classy. I get what you are saying justice, it like, okay you beat natchez and franklin county big deal move on. Worry about your next opponent. When we usually beat jefferson county, we rarely if ever talk about it at all. But they just keep going and going on about it enough already!

It's like they are the " Ever Ready Bunny " . They just keep going , and going , and going ,and going ,etc . Kind of makes you sick and want to hurl . I don't have nothing but praise for those young men on their team . I know some of them and have congradulated them on their success . It's those older ,days gone by idiots who are trying to live vicariously through their team . We never did talk about winning against JC . It was no big deal to us . It just amazes me how they can go on,and on , and on , about beating Natchez . I wonder if Alexandria,Monroe, or Vicksburg has the same problem when they play smaller schools in their area .

Amen justice I remember when we beat them by 60 points with so called superstars like clark, lee, green, and tenner. We didn't care because we had anothter game to play! It's like you said this is what happens when your not use to winning!

We will not be dismayed by the comments of Mr. Justice and Concernedalum. Mr. Justice's remarks must have been the lowest I have heard this year. It is my opinion that anyone who would make such comments about people is not that far up the ladder in common sense. I just want to say to my loyal fans to continue to post messages in support of our youth. You know, its ironic how there have been other articles about local teams printed in this paper, yet I don't see many Jeffersonians commenting on their page. I didn't see many people from Jefferson county commenting on articles negatively about any of the other local schools. Yet, when we have success, you have the audacity to comment on our page and call us pimps, fools, idiots, and country boys. If you join in on our comment page of course you will read positive and a little trash talking comments, duhh. I don't recall any of us drawing first blood or stooping as low as you have. Well, you know what, we are county boys and proud of it. We are also proud of our team and our community. There is enough negativity to go around in all the surrounding communities for everyone to have their share of fools and idiots. Therefore, you can keep whatever little meaningless gratification may have recieved from submitting your comments. But we from Jefferson County will not stoop as low as Mr. Justice has. We still love you Mr. Justice, your comments only reflect the attitude of the greater Miss-Lou area. And your comments sir will be one of our motivational points to our student athletes and citizens as a hole. Sure you tried to suger coat it by giving props to the players, but when you narrow your criticisms at the adults, you are only talking about someone that is a friend or relative. With all that has been said, we will continue to support our team. As long as we know that we are not fools and idiots!!!!!! And to the players and coaches keep your heads up, and let the fans handle people that would make such inhumane statements. Be proud of what you have accomplished, and get ready for friday. And before I sign off, REMEMBER THAT HARD WORK FEELS GOOD, AND WITH MOTIVATION COMES DETERMINATION. OOHH AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Justice, I only replied to you once. And not once doing my initial comment did I ever degrade or attack you. However, being the MAN that you are, you chose to respond by attacking my kids. I think you need to re-read your comment. You did not reference my full name because it was not provided for you. You referred to me by my POST name: AMAYSING. As you did today. Trust me, I remember it vividly.
So, if calling people fools, idiots and country pimps is not bad mouthing, please enlighten me on what is?
You know what makes me sick and want to hurl is when someone like you with a POST name Justice misuse their power. JUSTICE represents the quality of being just or fair. But your comments don’t reflect that. You choose to use all your power and you right to freedom of the press to ATTACK. No, I don’t know you Justice, but I know what you stand for.
Remember in my earlier post, I stated that you are that tree. Let me enlighten you. Once a tree takes root, it began to grow. The more roots the stronger the tree. However, the roots don’t remain in one location. The roots flow. They flow in all directions looking for sunlight and water. Look at your root system. All that negative energy (roots) that you are spreading. You even have a HOOD RAT trying to input his negative comments about my kids. WHY? Someone has even gotten personal and started naming individuals.
One thing I can say that you said is true: people keep going and going. But this is where I stop. You can continue to attack, but you get no more energy from me. I wish you the best out of life. I hope your team reaches their goals. There’s no division from me. I love Natchez and its trees. Being from the South has allowed me to grow into the person I am today. STRONG. And you best believe, I can lift anything you put before me.

Jaquan32 dismayed by what ? Rebuttal , your comments are the lowest I've read this year . Stop trying to come off as some sort of ignoble . You immediately came to the aid or your fellow Jefferson countians . You even insinuate that the whole Miss/Lou share these sentiments about JC . " Hey Natchez lets see what JC is doing . " Man , get real ! What a major generalized statement ! You are no better than no one here ,to come in and lump thousands of people from the Miss/Lou in the same boat . What a piece of work you are .

To Diamond. Maam, I really dont care that you care who I am. Neither does anybody else on here. And on a more serious note, I happen to be a huge football fan. I follow the area teams a lot. Especially during football season. So dont shun me for that.
To all: I have nothing against your Jefferson County Tigers or its program. I am MORE THAN HAPPY that Fayette is in the playoffs. As you said, IT is their time to shine. And Im happy for that as well. As I told a few other people on here, dont take my trash talking a mean and hateful. Instead, only on a FRIENDLY RIVALRY note. Honestly, you dont even have to call it that much. No disrespect to Fayette or any other team. And if I offended any of yall, I apologize. EOD.

Amaysing , before you go take a look at your positive comment about me . Also I don't need to know anything about farming or whatever that vernacular you are describing . I'm highly computer literate . Read your comments below :
Justice. It is just a game. For that 2% that make it as a successful athlete it’s a BLESSING. Not Luck, Not Chance, but a BLESSING. And as for the other 98% of the other athlete that play and DO NOT make it. What happens? If their thinking process was that of yours, they would be lost. Yes, sports are a multi-billion dollars industry. But you are not making any of that money. So in reality, educate individuals to yes, be competitive, but also to be successful in whatever they do. (Not just sports). This is the real world that we are talking about. A world where young black men have to compete and prove themselves everyday. And if there is no one there to pick them up when they fall, what would happen?
However, as for me Justice, Under Achiever is not even mention in my house hold. I got mine and can help you get yours, if need be. I check my bank account daily and smile. You know when you move outside of Adams County, you can do that. And as for my kids, that when you can see the testosterone emit from my veins. Because that is one subject that I don’t play. But being that you DOWN LOW BROTHERS lack real testosterone, I can expect that coming from you. Attacking estrogen. Because you want some of mine. Well guess what? You are welcomed to come visit bring your family and friends. Leave your boyfriends at home. I’ll take care of the expenses. My house is big enough to accommodate you, but if you feel more comfortable in a hotel I can arrange that…all free of charge. The ultimate under achiever. So, it was you, RADIO that carried the water, wishing you could run after a ball.
Does this read like Amaysing is innocent ? I don't know this woman . Yet she writes like she knows me . Oh my God , you people are sensitive !

Ladies and Gentlemen: Its been great this year. No hard feeling for or against anybody. I went on to read the rest of the entries to the story. And I must admit that its nice to see how much we all back our schools in this. Win or lose. Its exactly what it is. Nothing more than football and us as parents, fans, and ex players sharing our thoughts. Nothing more than that. I understand where all of you are coming from and have no intentions of making or causing bad blood between anybody on here. If any of you feel any harshness in any of this, then hopefully things will pan out for the better part, and we can continue to keep things from blowing out of proportion.Take Care and GOD Bless!!!

It is not just a game . Atheletics at all levels in this country is a multi-billion dollar industry . It's about competition and true competition is good .You can definitely tell the under-achievers among us , even by the way they write . Probably raised a bunch of loser kids . Training them to take the safe way out of everything . Only an individual with a loser mentality will utter such a statement .Where the heck do you estrogen loaded females think the talent pool begins for pro sports ? Right at the high school level . Tell some of those kids it's just a game they just lost . Some of them will probably tell you where to go*%? I guess estrogen and testosterone don't mix when it comes to understanding competition . I take that back . There are some females who are highly competitive and understands competition .
" Son strive to be the best at what ever you do . Never give up . Quiters never win , and winners never quit ! Be an eagle among chickens ! "

First of all, we as Tiger fans shouldn't let how others feel get to us, because we are going to be criticized anyway. It doesn't matter if you are gloating or complaining. That's what this forum is for. So don't even waist your time arguing about it, especially with people we don't even know. Let's just support or Tigers and move on. Let them talk.
GO MIGHTY TIGERS! GO GO MIGHTY TIGERS! I am as proud of you now as I was when you didn't have a successful season. You guys are the greatest, and you wll always be. God Bless You all! Let's pray for our team, and accept whatever happens. Who cares how others feel?

Oh Justice, I thought you were talking about me. My apology. I'm glad I don't take things negative, or I would have chewed you out for nothing. But I did say that on another post.

Enough is enough. I have been reading these comments daily. Its always when the tigers win a game that all these negative comments come about. WE never comment on Natchez articles. And someone above me typed that we were country pimps and idiots. What type of person would type such harsh words. There are idiots all around us. And I am sure there are many more in Natchez than In Fayette. There are plenty of successful people that come out of Fayette. So be careful when you insult people. Only an idiot would make comments like that. To address the person that stated that beating Natchez was the highlight of our season. Get over yourself. I haven't seen anyone post a comment about that game since that game was over but someone from NAtchez. And then maybe you might get a response. We are not living in the past we looking to the future. We are dont care about beating Natchez. That game meant nothing to us but bragging rights until next year. They are not in our district. So there is no sense in all this negativity. All this bad blood is not good. There is enough hatred between our people as it is. Some people will not take these comments as just good old fashion trash talking.
GOD BLESS THE TIGERS AND WE ARE PROUD OF YOU.
PRACTICE HARD AND THE COMMUNITY WILL BE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU. GO TIGERS

I'm from natchez but live in west monroe and this trash talk from jc and nhs is down right sad. Here in ouchita parish football is the past time people enjoy it for the kids.West Monroe is 10-0 and may win state in 5A. I know if all of you keep this up,there will be a problem that we don't like.If you don't see what I"m talking about ,go to www.thenewsstar.com and read the section on rayville and wossman high.It was and ugly game in the second half because of trash like this between NHS and JC.So let jc have that nhs and everybody move on please. We have a lot more teams here and it don't get that serious among us.

I just want the fans in sw mississippi see how we play high school football with integrity, class and respect for the other team if we win or lose the game.In northeast louisiana its about our kids having discipline on and off the grid iron, well most of them.

Thank you alphamale. The important thing is that "our children" learn to play a fair sport, win or lose. It's human nature, not idiotic or foolish, when you have been down as long as Jefferson County has to feel happy and proud about a winning season. But enough has been said from all sides and I say STOP IT.
Also remember the saying that it is a poor frog that want praise his own pond (smile).
GO TIGERS!!! I am a loyal and proud Tiger fan, win or lose.

There is nothing wrong with a good old-fashion rivalry between to schools. We as people just got to know where to draw the line.I like the sound of the battle of US 61 between NATCHEZ,JC,PG and WC.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Honestly, I think that I can speak on behalf of most people from Natchez when I say that we as Natchez folks have nothing against the Tigers or the city of Fayette.
Bottom line is, no matter what, we all more than happily support each other in everything that happens day to day. Because when its all said and done, I think that we as "people of the same" will end up having to grab each other by the hand and saying "Lets go, I got you", from day to day, if you know what I mean....
To think that Natchez has something against you all over something as simple as a football game is indeed something that shouldnt be. Im ashamed that I may have even contributed to that cause in the things I've said. I know I've portrayed that image to everybody at one point, therefore making a bad one of myself. To personally pinpoint the blaim on myself furthermore, read my posts from earlier this week and this year and you'll see what I mean. Even I have said things that people didnt like. And they quickly made it known. Like on yesterday.
Even though nobody may really care, my wife is from Natchez but pretty much grew up in Fayette. I know I burned up a many tanks of gas going to spend time with her before we hitched. Just so you know, my in-laws run the fish market, for those of you who wondered who I am. I dont mind telling you. I have nothing to loose here in being honest with you all. Even though we both now live elsewhere, we still support both schools and support both towns. Why? Because thats where home is and home will be home no matter where you go. Even though we both went to NHS, we treat Fayette as our own too. Because when its all said and done, I know that both towns have each others backs.
As for athletics as a whole, Jefferson County vs. Natchez. This has been a friendly rivalry for years. It has always been the battle for bragging rights on 61 until the next year. And honestly, this is one rivalry that I dont want to end no matter the outcome. And it should be and to me, is nothing more than that. There is nothing wrong with backing our schools. But I think that we can do it without attacking people personally as some have done. And in doing so, have taken it to extreme levels. And this, I feel was unnecessary. But we all have choices in the matter. If you choose to, then so be it. All in all, those of us that see this for what it is, continue doing what you do. Backing your schools and your city. There is nothing wrong with that. I just hope that you wont and dont take things so personally.

continued: To BJ, Topdawg, and Justice respectively: If I personally pissed you guys off or said some things that you all took personally, I apologize. Hopefully it wasnt as serious as it seemed it was taken to me. Trust me. We are all grown folks here. I kept on reading the posts throughout the week and I was like, "WOW. I seriously hope this thing isn't getting a little over the top here." So I posted my message above yesterday saying that its been a great year because it has.
I wish all the teams that are still in the post-season picture the best of luck and wishes. I dont know about everybody else, but I know I'll definitely be praying for all three teams this week. JC, FC, and NHS. Good luck to all. Once again, its been great so far this week and to date. May the LORD continue to Bless you all!!! (Happy Holidays from Iraq!!!)

I totally agree with you alphamale. There is nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned rivalry between two schools. That is what competition is suppose to be about in the first place, but it is going a bit too far here on this forum. I have never cared that much for football (basically because I didn't understand it), so I didn't follow the team away from home too much. I, on the other hand like basketball and often travel with the basketball team. I attend the game and enjoy the talking and meddling back and forth with the opposing fans ( my husband was with me and often told me I was going to get knocked out, smile), but it was all in fun. When the game was over, we all stood around a few minutes, enjoyed a good laugh and went on our merry way. I guess I'll stop the meddling now because the people posting here seem to want to draw blood, ouch!!! Please fans from 61, lets urge our respective teams on and when the game is over, let it be. I love you all, whoever you are.

You know , I went back and read my comments posted here . To be honest it really turned my stomach . And for what ? over a football game . I was raised better than this . I know when I'm wrong . I'm sorry for offending the people of JC and especially "Amaysing" .

Yo tron601, I never took offense to anything anyone has said. I appreciate the apology though, if you noticed i havent said anything in a while. I dont't think I started this but If i did I apologize to everyone. I'm just going to bat for my TIGERS I have to defend them everyday at work but thats all cool cause i enjoy the trash talking because thats all it is. When coworkers get on my case I take it when i get on their case they take it. When its over we are all still friends. This forum is great because it allows us to do just what we have been doing for years, talk trash, but from the privacy of our own homes, jobs or even IRAQ(GOD BLESS). We have some of the greatest rivalries in the state of MS if not the greatest. I don't know of any place else around the state that has as many rivalries in one area including woodville. Jefferson Co is surrounded by Claiborne,Copiah,Lincoln,Franklin and Adams counties and I have close friends and relatives in each. When Bhaven won their champioship i supported them and the same with Hazlehurst and FC respectively. I feel like it is time for us(JC) to step up and join them in the 3A rankings and complete the circle so to speak. I know and believe we are capabble of doing just that this year but we got to stay prayed up and fired up.............PS. I'm givin away the dang spirit sticks friday. That means its time to wake up fans and make plenty of noise WHEN THE OTHER TEAM HAS THE BALL...GO TIGERS!!!!!!!

Tron601, its funny how we've been bickering here about a game, when the real fighting is being done in Iraq. Thank you for bringing us all back to reality and for helping to make our country safe. Since we "may" stop the bickering now, the opinions might get boring, lol.

Classylady, you are right. It will be a little boring without a little trash talk, fun trash talk. But when it turns into a lot of name calling, that's where you have to draw the line. It's almost the same as cheering your team on, in a way.

Guess what Justice, you won your bet. I was not going to response. However, being that you apologized, I have to say I accept. I was truly offended when you responded by mentioning my kids because they mean the world to me. I too became ignorant in my commenting. I apologize for offending you also. And to prove that, I mean what I said about you visiting me in Atlanta. You and your family are welcomed. If you like to take me up on that offer just say the word. Until next time....

Now that we are all happy and talking again, would it be too much to ask you all to petition the Natchez Democrat to place that Icon for the Tigers in that "empty space" on the "Area Sports" section. Please no negative comments, if you don't agree don't attack me, but it would be nice to see our mascot in that section. I don't plan to boycot the paper if they don't, but because the Natchez Democrat is a business, I do think it would help them attract more business as well. Just a thought, I'm ducking...............
Posted by justice (anonymous) on November 7, 2007 at 3:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Amaysing I'am going to seriously consider your offer ! Thanks !
Posted by justice (anonymous) on November 7, 2007 at 6:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Classylady you have a point there . The Democrat is distributed into three parishes in Louisiana and five in Miss. Natchez has a service range of 50 miles surrounding the city and a trade area population of at least 110,000 people . There should be at least 12 teams along with their mascots listed on that page .
What to do to draw attention to this issue ? My personal bet would be to write a letter to the top of the morning in the " Opinion Section " of the Natchez Democrat . If that doesn't work contact the sports editor . Finally you probably should write the editor with your concerns . He's the one that get things done there . You have to be pro-active if you want to be heard . Someone will take notice .
