NATCHEZ — The 2007 ACCS Tip Off Classic came to a conclusion Saturday night.

“This has been a great tournament,” ACCS head coach Billy Britt said. “Some good basketball has been played.”

In the final game of the tournament, the Lady Rebels fell 50-22 to the Huntington Lady Hounds.

“We played good in the first half,” Britt said. “We’re a young team and lack of depth really hurts us.”

The Lady Hounds, led by Phyllicia Woods’ 17 points, jumped out early in the first quarter with a 17-5 lead.

The Lady Rebels settled down in the second quarter and held Huntington to just six points.

“We got a little sluggish,” Huntington head coach Penny Moak said. “We seem to play better when we pressure the other team and gain momentum.”

The Lady Hounds came out after half time and pressured ACCS the entire second half holding the Lady Rebels to just nine total points.

“Being young, pressure hurts us,” Britt said. “We didn’t respond well, but my girls played hard the entire game. We’ll get there. Experience is the best teacher right now.”
