Armed robbery arrest made

Published Monday, November 12, 2007

VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested Saturday after allegedly robbing two people at gunpoint.

Jordan Edgerson, 22, 410 N. Magnolia St., pulled a handgun and threatened two people as they were headed into a Vidalia Riverfront restaurant Saturday night, Vidalia Police Chief Billy Hammers said.

Edgerson took roughly $15 from the victims and ran, Hammers said.

No one was injured in the incident.

The victims called the police, who pursued him. They apprehended Edgerson while he was still in Vidalia.

“We caught him late last night or early this morning,” Hammers said. “It wasn’t long after it happened. I think we stopped him in a vehicle. We were fortunate enough to catch him pretty quick.”

Police recovered the handgun, and Edgerson confessed to the crime, Hammers said.

Edgerson was charged with two counts of armed robbery and transferred to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office. No bond has been set.

What a stupid thing to do! He's going to prison for armed robbery over $15... That was brilliant! (Note the sarcasm.)

Posted by Teach4Peace (anonymous) on November 12, 2007 at 7:31 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Now, this has to be the dumbest criminal to boot! $15, poor location to rob (if you consider that), and within plain site. Listen, VPD did their jobs, but I don't think there was much work to do on this one. Maybe when he goes to the pen/jail, he will learn from some more accomplished theives.

Thanks for my morning laugh, Teach!!!!!! I can see him now, sitting in his bunk, a bunch of cons gathered 'round him, telling him what he did wrong and how to correct it next time. They'll probably tell him to do it in Ntz cause he has a better chance of getting away with it.

Then, Hammers said and I quote,"I think we caught him in a vehicle". He thinks.

Hammers was home sleeping--he doesn't do the night shift thing. Billy and Randy love to take credit if their guys do good but if they screw up and life is lost or a family is put through a living hell then both of them are unaware of the problem.. (live here and speaking from experience)

Yes I can see him (Or should I say Her after the first week or two in the prison population ) sitting around getting Information from cons that has screwed up. It is about time the law enforcement offices around the Miss-Lou start doing the job that we pay them for. I yet have to receive any feed back from VPD, on two ( 2 ) Antique guns that was stolen from my Grandfathers house 10 yrs. ago .

The people were leaving the restaurant and the robber tried to get the guy's wallet, but only got the $15.

It doesn't surprise me that this happened. The place is right next to Crackville.

kd, for those of us who are not in the know...where is Crackville?

Posted by Teach4Peace (anonymous) on November 12, 2007 at 4:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

LOL, Crackville! My sentiments exactly! I knew crack was in the picture somewhere. The thief is lucky no one blew a hole through him.

Destiny, you are on it!!! My mom read this article and was like, WTH!!!!???? Do they KNOW how this guy was captured. "I THINK we stopped in a vehicle???!!! Yeah, good work VPD. (eyes roll)

I've got to hand it to VPD on this one.. I was at the riverwalk that night when all of that was taking place and it wasn't a big ordeal or anything. I never even saw cop cars. I just got a call from a friend who was at the restaurant. She told me, and those i was with, what happened and told us to get out of there PRONTO. We did, but we still never saw any squad cars....

The restaurant is next to a neighborhood that isn't the best in the world.

I know the area that kd is talking about, and that is a sad thing to say. 95% of the people living in that area are over the age of 50 and none of them are addicts. Just because the people are of a certain color do not mean that they are on drugs. I have lived and worked in Miss.and La. So I know many of YOUR so called Elite that are Alcoholics. Some I have seen in KNOWN DRUG AREAS of Natchez and I don't mean visting . I have watched how some of them have stared at little girls and little boys, So be VERY careful how you judge someone because others make be judging you in the same way. Take a Very Close look at you pass and some of you present Elected Officals. Some of you may have to go and clean out your closets. Look at some of your friends and family members. Some of you only have to look at YOUR SELF. Now I hope you have a nice day.

>>000117<< after all is said and done it would not suprise me in the least to find your guns in some house belonging to a certain sheriff. I won't mention any names.

Posted by 000117 (anonymous) on November 13, 2007 at 10:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)

>>destiny<< I do agree. No names mentioned, LOL

There are "scary" areas everywhere... One end of the road I live on(and grew up on) is known for drugs and such. It looks very poor, (I believe they just choose to spend their money on other things other than homecare) but even as a child riding the school bus, we were leary of the thugs that got on the bus from those houses. There have been shootings and the like (some even recently) from that end of the road. I can tell people where I live and can see their noses turn down and the judgement in their eyes.... I just sigh... I am not moving... They don't bother us at all. No break ins (yet) my teens don't go down that way for a visit. So until we have problems I guess we will just get judged... If it wasn't this, it would be SOMETHING!

I'm interested to see what becomes of this. Everyone keep your eye on the records in the Concordia Sentinel. I'm willing to bet he will get a suspended sentence. It's great that they caught him....let's see if he suffers the consequences.
