Parish inmate escapes

Published Wednesday, April 30, 2008

VIDALIA — Authorities are searching for an inmate from the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility after he apparently slipped away on foot Monday night.

Muncy McAlister, 49, was supposed to be working with six other trusties at the correctional facility’s maintenance shop when he was discovered missing during a routine check on the inmates by a corrections officer, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens said.

McAlister, who is described as a 5-foot, 9-inch tall, 160 pound white male with short brown hair and hazel eyes, was believed to be gone for only 10 to 15 minutes before his absence was discovered.

At the time of his disappearance, McAlister was wearing blue jeans and a welding shirt with “CPCF” stamped on them.

McAlister was reportedly upset because he had received news earlier in the day his girlfriend had been beaten up.

“(McAlister) has been a model prisoner up to this time and was never considered a risk whatsoever,” Sheriff Randy Maxwell said in a statement. “I honestly believe that had he not received news about this girlfriend, he would have completed his sentence with no problems whatsoever.”

It is believed McAlister is trying to work his way to his girlfriend’s home in Clinton, and officials do not believe he received any help, Stevens said.

Originally sentenced on a simple burglary charge, McAlister has been incarcerated in Concordia Parish since 2006 and is not considered dangerous, Maxwell said.

The policy for trusties working at the correctional facility’s unenclosed maintenance area will immediately be changed.

“A corrections officer will be with them (the trusties) constantly now, instead of checking on them every few minutes,” Maxwell said.

McAlister’s name has been entered into the National Crime Information Center database and this incident will add at least another year to his sentence, Maxwell said.

Another "girlfriend" excuse! The last work release inmate runaway was also a "girlfriend" related escape! That one stole a truck,,,,robbed a store in another Parish and also had a "girlfriend" visit!

It's about time the CPSO started keeping better tabs on these work release inmates! They are afterall,,,,Still Prisoners!

Choctaw, this one wasn't even work release - he was an inmate with trusty priveleges!!

There is no excuse for this.

IF YALL HAD PUT GLEN LIPSEY IN OFFICE THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING

Look out movedon, here will come the coulda happened to anybody, always happens, ain't that bad, its a routine thing, he will fix it, its under control, sour grapes, get a life and something must be wrong with YOU.

familyof God what do you mean by your statement? Just curious.

Posted by FamilyofGod (anonymous) on April 30, 2008 at 10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Itsa, just having a little fun. Last night before the story was amended and all the comments taken down there was a litany of posts similiar to the ones above, followed by responses that set forth a bunch of excuses and attacked the complainers.

Then when I referred to an escape arrest of a few weeks back wherein the "escape" was really an "escapade" where a lady was arrested as well for taking the work release inmate to an unauthorized location for unauthorized "work", I was chastized for a post allegedly unbecoming my username (I reject that) because of the subject matter, I suppose.

So... DUCK!

Wouldn't a mugshot be helpful?

i have moved on and i do have a life it's the people in concordia that need to wake UP and realize that the person in office has too many buddies working for him. and no it would not have happen if they were doing there JOB

Posted by emp (anonymous) on April 30, 2008 at 8:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Movedon, you obviously haven't moved on.

Posted by emp (anonymous) on April 30, 2008 at 8:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Movedon, one more thing. If we had put Mr. Lipsey into office he wouldn't be taking over that office until July. Therefore, your point is moot. Prisoners sometimes escape. Its a fact of life that happens all over the world.

I believe it is spelled 'trustee', Natchez Democrat. If you need a copy editor, give me a call!

This just shows once again, the incompetance that eminates from the top down here. If your friends or you narc for this sheriff, you are ok to go and can do what you want. If you aren't, you better not do anything where you have to meet him or his group of "mini-me".

mud: If there is any truth to what you are saying, you need to contact someone and report what you know to be fact....otherwise, keep your mouth SHUT with your SLANDEROUS LIES!!!

kd, they won't call you. They've got it right. A trustee is something entirely different. Check your dictionary.

you go mudzillaefi tell it like it is. sounds like you hit a nerve

Posted by damifino (Gale Coleman) on May 1, 2008 at 9:53 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Anyone can make a comment, but if you aren't prepared with proof, it is nothing more than a downright lie! Again, if you have proof...bring it on! Unsubstantiated accuations are no more than slanderous gossip and I'm quite sure none of you would appreciate anyone doing the same to you. So spit it out or get out!

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 1, 2008 at 10:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Spitting. Someone I know, two people actually, worked at a nursing home in Ferriday for many years. In that time they saw several elections where incoherent seniors were taken out of the home by bus sometimes, and carted to voting stations. This was reported during the recent election with little or no results. I have seen, people kin to the current sheriff, leave the scene of a bar altercation drunker than you would ever see, driving, while spinning tires. This in the presence of several CPSO employees. I have seen, first hand, a man who admittedly had been in trouble legitimately in the past, get blamed and have to pay fines and restitution for crimes he could not have commited becuase he was living in another state, this was proven. yet he was charged anyway just because they had no other viable suspects, and were too lazy to investigate an issue further. They took the path of least resistance. What about all the alligations of fraud with the jail issue?? All rumors inuindo, stories, observations, etc, are based on some form of fact. this man barely won the election. this happened becuase with the voters there is lingering doubt. Although he has done good admittedly for CP, he has let the job go to his head and feels he is untouchable. damifino, you champion something you don't understand and are apparently blind to due to loyalty. this is admirable, but misplaced. I have seen people who have perpetrated many crimes some that should have sent them to jail for quite some time, but they walk the streets still. Mostly becuase they Narc on others who it is more.....strategic, to apprehend and charge. I am sure by your defense of this sheriff's administration, you voted for him? It is your right, as is mine to speak my mind. Like him or loath him, something is going on, or there would not have been the challange to the election results as there were.

Is this the same guy who escaped earlier this week? He may be in Clinton already.

Mud: I would like to address several points you brought up.
1. Who are you to say who these old people voted for? A trip to the polls does not guarantee a vote. That's a service to enable these people THEIR RIGHT to be able to vote!
2. If people that were kin to the Sheriff were seen to be driving drunk by CPSO officers (and I presume you were there also or else you are going on a rumor) then why did they not make an a call to the SO or local police or State Trooper? They did not have to give their name!? That would have been their duty (and yours) to report a drunk driver!
3. Just because a person is living in another state does not abdicate(sp?)him from performing a crime in yet another state. Had he had a viable alibi, how could he have been found guilty? In case you are not aware of it, the D.A. is the one that decides if a case goes to court or not...the Sheriff's Dept. only arrest people...not enough proof...no case. Simple as that.
4. ALLEGATIONS of fraud?!!I guess you missed the trial and the upholding of the decision of the judge by the Supreme Court. You still carring on about that? Geez...what does it take for some people?
5. The reason he just got by in the election is because SO MANY people were just too complacent to get out and vote. It doesn't matter though...the majority rules.
6. My loyalty is anything BUT misplaced. On the other hand, you seem to be pretty much one of those types of people that see only what they want to see...so long as its negative and bad! Do you also read and believe the National Enquirer?
7. Yes, the Sheriffs Department uses Narcs...every city and state does the same thing. It's a method that works! Vicksburg used Narcs for 5 years and let drug deals go down every day to be able to catch the big dealer. Do you really want every user to be put in jail and pay for their room and board, or would you rather the big boys be caught? There is not enough money or space to imprision every user in America today.
8. Thank the good Lord that there was at least 50%+ of good, logical thinking people left in Concordia Parish to get him re-elected.
9.(and lastly) One man can't please everyone. There never has been one that could and never will be, except our Lord, Jesus. Why don't you just step back and judge th MAN...not the deeds of his relatives...but him? I do and that's why I see so much good in him and all he tries to do. He can't do it alone, but he has made our area a safer place to live. It takes you and I as well as all the citizens of the parish to group together as a whole to try to bring peace and order to our community. It all starts at home. And thats all I have to say on this subject. End of discussion. Have a good day.

mudzillaefi it's funny when the truth comes out and people get upset huh....LOL......

Well i am taking it they haven't found him yet.....imagine that.....Still wondering if there will be any charges brought against him when he is recovered....If so why? Wouldn't that be discrimination?

Google the words 'trustee' and inmate'. I stand by my post!

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 1, 2008 at 10:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

you damifino are pompous. The reason I did not report the drunk cousin of the "law" was what was the freakin use, they were standing all around us. AS for the voter fraud, it was verified by the family members of the residents. There were people from his camp pulling the handle for them!!!
The person I mentioned who was accused of a crime he could not have commited was threatened and coerced into paying for damages he did ot commit. I honestly do not care what you believe Gale, you are entitled to your opinion, but they are like you know what, and they all smell bad. I don't care what kind of day, you have!!!!

Posted by damifino (Gale Coleman) on May 2, 2008 at 8:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

mud: If you'er not part of the solution, then you'er part of the problem. Sorry you think I'm pompous, I really didn't mean to come across that way. Actually I was really answering to your demeaning attitude toward someone I stand behind. I understand your attitude concerning the drunken situation you mentioned, but really, if we as citizens don't intervene in keeping drunks off the highway,REGARDLESS WHO THEY ARE, then we are helping risking someones life! I don't think the Sheriff would mind at all someone calling in and reporting a drunk on the highway! Do you think he would rather see that person in the morgue? I think not. Yes, it may cause some embarrassment, but that's way better than the pain of losing someone through death caused by drunk driving. As for the fraud "being verified by the famimly members" were they in the voting booth to see who pulled the handle? Why didn't the family members take this person to the polls? You are so right on one thing....to smelly for me! And I DO care what you think, even if you couldn't care less on hearing the other side. I don't mind getting on here and publicly giving my view points for all to know what I think. If you think that means I am pompous, then go ahead and think that, again, that was not my intention. Have another good day.

mudzillaefi, we both know until Randy gets out of there things are not going to change.

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 5, 2008 at 10:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Thats right!! The drunken incident i mentioned, was witnessed by several deputies as did i. They were standing there!!!! Every day, every day, i check the paper to see who has been arrested for what, and the same names are in there every single day!!! someone has done away with the 3 strikes rule in the Misslou. It is pathetic. I repeat my stance. If you are friends of this administration, and you possibly NARC for them, (knowing this will save them valueable investigation time) you will walk away scott free or with little to no consequeces. It is not only from the CPSO but also from the other dept's handling crime and punishment in CP. The person i refered to being drunk and leaving the scene while being watched by several CPSO deputies is in the paper today again, and walked away vertually scott free with the common wrist slap. This is no doubt commonplace and will not change unless you all get serious about things and vote this bunch out for some new blood. Movedon, you are very very right. Just do what others do, and stay on the CPSO's good side.

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 5, 2008 at 10:06 a.m. (Suggest removal)

There is a person in there right now, who has NARC'd in the past and was provided a house in Tensas parish for a short time to accomodate this function. He is out right now, on bail, again for an arrest. When is enough enough? When does being a NARC get outweighed by the fact that an individual is a threat to society as a whole and is put away for a long time? Will they have to kill someone first?? Damifino, you struck a nerve by accusing me and others of being biased or starting rumors. I don't start them. I don't blame people for they're mistakes, but I do ask that they pay for them.
