Ferriday man arrested for having stolen AC unit

Published Saturday, August 2, 2008

FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man is in jail due largely to a piece of tape.

Sylvester Prophet, 51, 607 S. Eighth St., was arrested on charges of receiving of stolen things Thursday.

Prophet was reportedly in possession of an air conditioner that had been stolen from another man’s window when the man who owned the air conditioner saw him and recognized it as his own, Ferriday Investigator Johnny Evans said.

“He recognized it because of some tape he had on the cord,” Evans said. “After checking it out, it was determined the air conditioner did belong to that subject.”

Prophet’s bond was set at $281.

He might steal mine, but if i catch him on my property stealing it,....I,ll call the coroner, because i won,t need 911.
We need,no we have to start taking a stand against these,
hobo,s,dopers, havenots, nocounts, thugs. If we don,t take a hard line with gas prices soaring to who knows where,it,s only going to get much worse. They will steal what you worked hard for and sell it for pennies to get a crack rock or whatever..If you find them stealing, leavum laying facedown and call the coroner to come get them. It,s a perfect deterrent to crime.

texasranger when you kill someone you will never have a chance to forgive that person. God forgive us each and everyday for our sins. Drugs are not the only reasons people steal. I don't agree with stealing but we don't live in the wild west. Guns are not the only way to solve crime. The AC can be replaced the life you take is gone forever.

God forgive us each and everyday for our sins."

I have to disagree. Nowhere in the Bible will you find that. Only those who have died to themselves, repented of their old sinful life, made Jesus the complete Lord of their lives, and have been born again in the Holy Spirit have their sins covered by the blood of Jesus' sacrifice. A person who steals is not born again and therefore he is not forgiven by God. I don't mean to be argumentative, but when it comes to the things of God, I can't let things that are not true about God go unchecked.

I just wish the media would stop with expressions like, well, the gas is high, it costs so much to live etc.We made it sometimes with nothing and we still never turned to stealing. I see nothing wrong in protecting what you work hard for. They are so bold now, they will steal it and try to sell it back to you.

Dead offenders are better than repeat offenders.

It's not nice to steal an a/c right now. Someone will get awfully mad at you.

Hey that was my a/c unit, I wonder why my house all of sudden got warm.
