Budget planning starts today
Published Monday, August 18, 2008
NATCHEZ — Break out your calculators, Natchez. It’s budget time.
Starting today, the City of Natchez will be getting their budget straight for the next fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.
City Clerk Donnie Holloway said the budget meetings will span across three days, starting at 3:30 p.m. each day in the conference room at city hall.
On Monday, he said he will meet with the department heads from the community development, fire, personnel, planning and police departments.
On Tuesday, department heads from municipal court, the grants coordinator and from the recreation and public works department will meet with Holloway.
Finally, on Wednesday, the budgets for the senior citizen and the tourism department will be situated.
Holloway couldn’t guess how long the meetings will last, he said some may last only 20 minutes for the smaller departments, but for the larger ones, it may take longer to hash things our.
But it’s important to be detailed.
“We’ll go over their budget with them line item by line item,” Holloway said.
Looking for cuts is key, too.
“We’ll see what we’ve got to cut, where we got to cut, see if there’s any waste in the budget,” he said.
Once the department heads’ meetings are over, Holloway said he will sit down with the mayor and board of aldermen to review it.
“We’ll sit down again and go over it and see, first of all, what we’re looking at as far as a deficit or a balance budget at that time,” he said.
Holloway said the budget will be officially approved at a public hearing that will take place the second week in September.

"Looking for cuts is key, too."
Perhaps Donnie will heed my advice and cut costs by recruiting welfare recipients to do work for the city--since we already are paying them a wage.
Why should they sit home and collect money instead of working for the city and collecting their money.
There are lawns to mow, weeds to pull, and streets to sweep.
We're already paying them--let 'em work for it!

Jack Wheeler is a brilliant man who was the author of Reagan's strategy to break the back of the Soviet Union with the star wars race and expose their inner weakness. For years he wrote a weekly intelligence update that was extremely interesting and well structured and informed. He consults(ed) with several mega corporations on global trends and the future, etc. I think he is in semi-retirement now. He is a true patriot with a no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well known mountain climber and adventurer.
Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler
The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.
What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It's something Hillary doesn't understand - how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering
absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no
arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd.
Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain
Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.

Take the money that the clerk found and give it to the city.
Somebody will slide it into a box and it will dissappear anyway.

I think we need to have another study run on a hosptial that costs 3 million dollars to tell them they are 3 million dollars in debt,.

And give the study folks a bonus for firing employees and writing more and more bulletins to do more work that they don,t have the employees to do anymore. Double the work load on the ones left like the factories do.

Texasranger, you keep making the same error that other right-wing zealots make.
You think everyone who is willing to vote for Obama is a leftie, hippie, tree hugging, Greenpeacer. You are, once again, dead wrong.
We moderates and independents who don't take to extremes of the right or the left--and there are more of us then their are of you all--are supporting Obama as the alternative is just not a viable option.
Maybe someday the GOP will stop trying to please the zealots on the right-fringe and govern from the middle--then maybe we the independent middle will support the GOP. Otherwise you are doomed.
