Construction crews have started to clear the way for a new strip mall expansion, as shown in above rendering, at the Natchez Mall.

Natchez Mall begins expansion

Published Wednesday, August 27, 2008

NATCHEZ — The Natchez mall is about to get a little bigger.

That’s because an expansion project by the Tabani Group, the mall’s owner, is currently in the works that will grow the mall by 12,000 square feet.

That new growth will add four new retail shops and possibly one restaurant said mall manager Marie Lofton.

But the new growth will not be within the confines of the mall.

Instead, Lofton said the project calls for the construction of a strip-mall in front of the already existing mall.

While preliminary work started approximately two weeks ago Lofton said recent rains have slowed the project’s progress.

“The weather plays a big part in it,” she said of the project.

Regardless of weather Ross Harle, Tabani’s asset manager, said Dec. 31, is the projected date to have construction completed and possibly have new businesses moved in.

“We hope to be operational by then,” he said.

While the project is still in the early stages, Harle said two shops have already signed on to lease space in the new facility.

Lofton said so far a video game store and a beauty supply shop have signed up to be part of the mall’s extended family.

And Harle said the decision to develop outside the physical structure of the mall is a trend that’s becoming increasingly popular in mall development.

“There’s a great deal of space there,” he said of the parking lot area. “And it’s a great way to create some buzz outside the mall.”

I am excited!
This is a great addition...maybe a chic- Filet, a quiznos
Oh and I would LOVE a pier one store!

They could have saved money by putting some businesses in the mall...Hopefully it will be stores that we all love to shop at.....I wish it would be a quiznos...but, i think the buzz on the streets is a red lobster?

dangyankee, what about that place that sell the best popcorn in the Miss-Lou.Popcorn so good make you wanna slap somebody.

They need to expand the Mall and add a Church's Chicken or maybe even another passback or something. They need to open up a sports bar so me and my friends and June Bug and em can come drink a couple beers and drive home and talk about them good old days when the mall use to be something.

WOW! Expansion at the Mall. It only took 30 years. I guess better late than never. It would be nice if there was a Buffalo Hot Wings.

I wish they'd expand the theater..4 screens just simply isna't enough, and the chairs are old and dreadfully uncomfortable. Not to mention, there are so many movies that we miss, because they simply don't show them here. We have to drive all the way to another town just to go to a decent theater. The restaurant would be welcome too, I'd LOVE an Applebee's, or maybe Olive Garden.

I know some kids that will be real happy to see a GameStop come to town. I would like to see a CiCi's Pizza come in. That goes well with the Mall atmosphere and it is affordable especially for families.

If people would have worked to get some industry into Ntz instead of mall jobs that barely pay over minumum wage. My S/N probably would be what it is.

This is nice. I wish them well.

I have always wondered why they don't add another level on top of the existing mall...all other malls are more than 1 story and this one could really increase in size by doing that. As far as restaurants my vote is on an Outback!

Posted by meluvcookies (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 7:09 a.m. (Suggest removal)

All of the above said restaurants are all good places to eat! My daughters love Chik-Fil-A AND we also love to hop on over to I-Hop, except the fact is we have to HOP about 2 hours to get to one! LOVE THE FOOD there and all their choices of delicious syrups. Mmm!

Points of interest:

1. From an engineering standpoint, adding another floor is not always feasible. The original columns were designed for the building that is there. They may not be able to hold another floor. Also, the air conditioning units are on the roof for the stores that are in the mall, so where do you put them. .....see what I am saying, it is notdesigned for 2 floors so they would have to demolish the existing and start over.

2. Outback and other restaurants do studies to determine where new stores will be profitable and right now, Natchez has trouble keeping the doors open on the stores that are already there. Ryans in Natchez does not do the amount it was projected to do when it was built. The other stores in town, like Ruby Tuesday, are always on the edge of closing, so if you want more restaurants, support the ones you already have in town. This will make the area seem more pleasing when they do studies in the area for future expansion.

Have a great day.

Chuckie Cheese's or CiCi's Pizza...that's the ticket. The kids will love it.

Seems to me they need to use the whole 12,000 square feet for a complaint box, it would never run out of patrons in Natchez!

Redusmfan, to say you are a man you always got something negative to say about everything. My goodness do you wake up on the wrong side of the bed everyday. As a matter of fact, I think you were the one that got on my case when I mentioned about Ntz getting a new addition or new mall period. But you know what I'm sorry for coming at you, I'm just not gonna read your comments.

More mall = More thugs!!

Posted by papajeff (Jeff McClure) on August 27, 2008 at 8:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Red is not being negative, but factual. Unfortunately, our area does not have a high enough population for some of the restaurants mentioned - they only start looking if the population base is over 50,000. That said, any one of them would add a nice variety, but I like Li'l Dagos for my Italian.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. (Suggest removal)

All I said was that the old mall was not designed for 2 floors.

And I said that if you want more restaurants, support the ones that are in town now.

Just the facts please. You may consider these negative, but they are really considerations.

Have a great day.

Well I choose to be excited. And my wish list is. Red Lobster, Olive Garden, a skating rink for all ages, and a nice maybe indoor swimming pool. If that was my Mall I would set it up for year round activities for all ages. More like a fun park with shopping and places to eat.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 8:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Whisper,

I like your idea of having year round activities for children. It would help bring more younger families to the area.

I would hope that if they act on that, this would not become a babysitting service for individuals that tend to drop off their kids on any place that will take them while they folow their own desires.

I have seen that happen a lot. At MY CHURCH, they enacted rules a few years ago to make sure that you did not drop off your kids at church and leave. I did not think it was that big of a deal, but I found out quickly that we had about 20 families that were doing that. We have around 3000 people at church on Sunday morning and a few were leaving the kids at church while they went shopping and out to eat.

Sad statement on society today, but true.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 8:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)

P.S.,

This rule was enacted in the pre-school department. The children were age 3 months- 5 years. The rest of the church did not have the rule.

I would love to see more variety in the current mall. Last time I went there were so many that were just import stuff. I rarely go out there anymore.

Posted by pbnj (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:04 a.m. (Suggest removal)

This is great, but it is also a fine example of building more when there is already vacant space and neglecting the up keep of it. I don't know if that made sense, like how in the existing mall, the floors are buckled, air is insufficient, and it needs a face lift. So maybe they could look into that as well. With all the codes we have, I would think there could be one that states, Fix what you have before building more.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:08 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Watch out PBnJ, they will call you negative on here today...lol....

Glad to see the new building. I remember when they opened the mall. The band that I was in when I was in the 7th grade played there. It was Martin Jr. High. I lived close by and walked over there about once a week to play the arcade.

I do my best to support the restaurants in town. I wish for a well-rounded restaurant and not another fast food store. An Applebees would be nice as others mentioned above. But, this being a strip mall, I doubt it will be upper-crust.

I seldom go into the actual mall because of distance in walking, whereas with the strip mall, and if the parking to it is right, it will make it easier for some of us with limited mobility to enter.

Maybe they could have one spot for voting--- so many voting places are hard to find parking and enter to vote. -- I know, this is a trip mall not a government office.. Wishful thinking. Have a great day all.

Posted by purplehaze (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:20 a.m. (Suggest removal)

It also seems that the ND is thinking that there's enough negativity to censor the posts down to disabling them. I didn't see anything really bad on the latest post that was disabled. So look out.

Posted by sayitloud (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:20 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Yeah I too would like to support the local restaurants in town but would also like more than fast food crap. I like many that are already here but just ask for more options, that's all. Applebees, Outback, Red Lobster I really don't care but give us more options.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:21 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Nationwide, the effort is on to build more strip malls and less closed malls. I have worked for Taubman in the past and they are moving away from closed malls, like the one we worked on in Plano Texas, called The Shops at Willow Bend, and more towards strips, like the one at the Morgantown red light area.

The reason why??? Parking and walking distance for disabled people and elderly, and the fact that people do not like to be closed in a mall with people that do not act as they should inside. Just go to Northpark in Ridgeland and watch how the young people act and watch the faces on the older people and you will see why so many people are going to strips centers like Dogwood festival.

These are facts. Not my opinion.

Hey, how about another Pirate's Cove!! I think Natchez could use a Ross, Barnes & Noble (or BaM), and ESPECIALLY a Target.

Posted by opinsab (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:23 a.m. (Suggest removal)

This is crazy people look at the mall now i know because i used to work there!! Half the darn mall is empty NO stores and plenty of space for new businesses. But no instead of filling the unused space lets just add on and spend way more money on stores that will come and go then we will have a run down ugly mall for right now they are breaking even kepin the place up and with the in flow comming in. Now it gonna go to phooH!!!

Posted by purplehaze (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

sayitloud, all the restaurants you speak of require an interstate. I know that Red Lobster was contacted by some business men in Natchez about 15-20 years ago and they couldn't beg them to come to town. They had proposed that it be put where Ryan's is now.

Posted by scrapmom (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

obamaymama- Taco-Casa does not serve frozen burritos.
My daughter works there and a good friends owns and run it... Natchez does need a change, but I am like redusmfan
you need support the locals first, and the building the mall is in now does need a good facelift, always so hot in there in the summer months, you can't shop for to long.

Thanks purplehaze.

Posted by aak1972 (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 9:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The reason the mall is becoming empty is the rent is phenomonal! It is more feasible for new business to locate in a NEW building.

Right, a decent restaurant would be nice, maybe a Garfield's

but if you go to Ruby Tuesday, which could be a decent restaurant, the people that run that place really need some good management to make the cooks and staff work, keep the place clean, well supplied, and prepare the food in a timely manner. Over Christmas I took a group there on a Thursday evening thinking that would be a good time, called ahead and they said come on, it took us ONE WHOLE HOUR just to get WATER!!!!!!!

Restaurants around here can't hire good help it seems, I was at Ruby's this past weekend, everyone was complaining about how long it took to get food, it took me 40 minutes to be served a chicken sandwich, I was really disapointed. It will be the same at any new restaurant the mall brings in, so don't get your hopes up about a decent restaurant giving decent service here -- it's the work force that we need to improve.

And you guys are right on about a decent theatre - man alive is that theatre at the mall TERRIBLE!!! Dirty and nasty, and the thuggish people that are in there are always loud and moving around throughout the movie. I haven't been to a movie here in Natchez in probably, well can't even remember the last time I went, it's been over 3 years, and I LIKE TO GO TO MOVIES!! But refuse to subject myself to such torment as having to put up with the interference of the punks that hang out at the mall.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I expect too much out of other people, is it too much to expect people to be decent and considerate of others???

My kids play video games and will be thrilled to see a GameStop come to the Miss-Lou. We lived in the Houston area for 5 years and miss places like that and Marble Slab Creamery (ice cream). A region can grow a. bad: thugs, drunks, thieves, etc. that infiltrate an area to exploit economic downturn or b. good: small business, housing development and school improvements that make communities active and strong. The mall in itself is not bad, but the atmosphere needs a facelift.

well I know one thing, the new Mall owners are very demanding and hard to work with. Why do you think Sports Center moved out??? Sports Center went to the great expense of renovating and expanding a big building, when they could have paid rent a lot cheaper, but the Mall owners were so overbearing and pushy, Mr. Craig couldn't stand it any longer and told them where to shove it and moved. He took a risk and it paid off, my hat is off to Wade Craig and his crew for making Sports Center what it is today. The mentality of those Hindupeople(don't get me wrong, I know some folks that are Pakistani, middleeast race that are fine people) is one of racial supremacy and they really let it go to their head with the landlord thing, trying to force agreements on people. Yes there are empty spaces at the mall and I bet rent is skyhigh due to the attitude of the current owners. I doubt any local families could afford to do business there, only corporate chain stores that offer very expensive retail merchandise and can afford to subsidize a location there by more profitable stores elsewhere. That's the way I see it.

Industrialization (I know it is a big word sayitloud, just google it) needs to be expanding in Natchez, not 'The Mall".

Red is so right. Big chain restaurants & stores won't come to ntz because of the per capita income of the area. It's nice to dream though.

Posted by Krogers (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 10:46 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Beautifully defined

LOL, you are so silly, I have friends that work there and want to tip them, that's why

Like I said, it's the management that should keep things going smoothly, and well supplied and organized, and make that restaurant what it should be.

There are times I go there and everything is ok, my feet don't stick to the floor and food is good. But there are times when you walk to the buffet and your feet STICK TO THE FLOOR and you can't get good service. I'm just telling the truth. I'm not complaining, in fact, I told them when I was there what I thought. I want good restaurants, and when I go to one I expect to be given good service, SAME AS YOU, unless you want to pay good money and get ripped off, which I doubt.

Maybe you work there and just want to pull a check and don't care and don't take pride in what you do.

Like I said, maybe I expect too much from people, I was raised that you should take pride in what you do and do a good job.

I believe that some of the new stores should be for teens. As of now, there are almost no stores in Natchez for teens to shop at to keep in "style". All of the name brand stores are out of town but many people who live here shop there. Also, some better restaurants would be nice. Maybe a Chili's, TGI Friday, or even Arby's.

You guys are not thinking strategically for the city of Natchez.

First, survey shoppers in the mall, in the downtown area, mail surveys to homes, survey your walmart shoppers, and anywhere you find people.

Find out the number of people who travel to Monroe, Jackson and other surrounding counties for information about why do they leave Natchez to shop and where do they spend their money .

You will see names like Dillards, Pier One, Target's, Mervyns, or even a Marshall's pop up ....Natchez has enough eateries and for God sakes please no place to sell beer and alcoholic beverages.

What was the name of that T-shirt shop (that use to put iron ons on T-shirts, where Claire's is now)?

Natchezsouthside----If complaining was money Natchez would be the richest town in America.

I completely agree... its nice and all that yall would like all these big business to come to our town but its not very likely we get most of them place... the facts are that nobody in this town can really afford to start up places like that for the insurence and things are crazy trust my family has looked into places like cane's and olive garden, another reason is this companys dont believe a town our size and afford to support and and keep this business earning money, mostly becasue we dont or arent close to an interstate. But the saddest part is everyone in this town wants this to come and this to happen and someone needs to bring this for the kids and that, but everyone is waiting on someone else to do it. honestly think about it, why would you assume things like this when we should just be thankfully for the little addisons and the new jobs those bring, yes natchez is grow and i'm so happy for that, but rome wasnt built in a day people.

(Posted by Krogers: Even Jesus drank wine!!)

Krogers: Your analogy is not objective. In that part of the world during the 1st Century, there were many times unavailable pure water sources, hence the drinking of wine. Also, the wine of that time period does not have the alcohol content of today's wine. To get the amount of alcohol that is found in two margaritas, Jesus would have to drink over 20 glasses of wine that was available in that day. Since the alcohol in two margaritas will take only two hours to leave your system, do you believe Jesus would drink over 20 glasses of wine in only two hours? No way. If you think drinking is okay, that is your opinion, but please do not desecrate the Lord Jesus Christ to justify drinking.

Krogers I can't believe you have a name like krogers, didn't they go out of business like a couple of years back. They say some people like to hold on to their lost love sometimes and I see.I remember when we use to go there and buy them Big K Strawbery Watermelon and Lime pops there and on the way out we use to get some change out of the wishing well and get us a Colt 45,that was them good old days there.

Swapmeet, how would you know what percentage of alcohol is found in wine that Jesus drank 2000 years ago? Is there some secret recipe found in the bible pertaining the alcohol content in wine? You holy-rollers say that God invented the Earth and everything in it in 7 days, but then argue that those 7 days could have been millions of years long, so who is to say that Jesus was a complete alcoholic who loved his "potent" wine? If Jesus had the power to do so many things, don't you think he could have drink 20 glasses of wine in two hours? I bet anyone could do that, under beneficial circumstances.

Really, we are expecting our first child, so we didn't have ANY prior to this one and we work! This is why I have ZERO sympathy for folk who sit on their butts and wait for the post man every month for SSI, EBT, TANF, etc, and they KNOW they can work! I do not know what Baptist wanted his congregation to stop drinking so bad that he started the rumor that wine in the Bible was not wine like we have today. It is a lie....straight from the pit of hell.

God knew what the word "wine" was going to mean 4000 years ago and today. he did not put the word in the Bible by mistake.

Juice is juice, wine is wine...and even hard liquor is mentioned in the Bible. Reality is that He knows all yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Posted by Teach4Peace (anonymous) on August 27, 2008 at 4:55 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes, as far as we know, there could be variations of wine in the Bible. One for the parties/weddings and the one that was strong drink, as the Bible references. Also, redusmfan, you are correct, Jesus said the drunkard is unaware and that is why we should "not be given into strong drink." As scriptures dictate, Jesus had no problem with drinking wine, he took issue with the drunkard.

lookingout, be encouraged. There is much to be said of those like us, we actually keep this economy moving along. Imagine if we were all lazy free-loaders. Who would then foot the bill? I look at my check and sometimes I am like whoa, what I pay in taxes! Hopefully when the baby comes along, this will offer us some kind of tax relief. BTW, I also think 2 is enough! LOL :)

Swapmeet - the wine of old was actually stronger, I don't know where you get your info, but I have studied Enology(science of winemaking) and Viticulture (science of growing grapes for wine or food) and know a little about that. I bet Jesus could drink any of us under the table all the BS he had to put up with and knowing what was coming for him I bet he had a few glasses to ease his pain. Bless Him for all he has done for us, I wouldn't begrudge him a drink, or be ashamed of Him if he did.

Obama: First of all, I don't listen to Joel Osteen. He's a lost man who needs to be born-again. Below is an excerpt from a website that talks about the strength of wine in that day. I will post a link to the website if need be.

"Wine Strength During this Era

Another question that often arises in regards to wine in the Bible and Christ’s consumption is its alcoholic strength. If the wine was in fact wine and not grape juice, then it obviously had some sort of alcohol content. However, the wine of the Biblical era was much weaker than the wine we know today. While one reason for this was the addition of water, another reason was naturally fermented wine (wine that does not have additives) was the only wine available during this time. Because sugar and yeast were not yet added to wine, its alcohol content remained lower than modern day spirits."

http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Wine-of-Is...

Red: I don't know what you meant by Baptist, but I'm not a baptist. I don't attend a denominational church.

The following link makes the case that it takes 22 glasses of wine to equal two present-day martinis. Today's wine is considered "strong drink" compared to New Testament wine so it is therefore forbidden. You can try to warp God's Holy Word to justify your iniquity, but you'll have to answer for that yourselves. I don't know why you care anyway Obama. You don't believe in Jesus or the Bible, remember? You responding the way you do just proves what you know deep down in your heart.

They have the money to expand to the So called Mall, but the government doesn't want to spend the money on a Recreation Complex that Natchez desperately needs. All the money going into the expansion of the Mall could easily go towards a Rec Complex. One of the comments that was mentioned was putting a swimming pool in, but then you have all the sue happy people now a days that providers don't want that hassle. I think more productive activities are needed in Natchez, then you would see the majority of drunk driving and other crimes would go down. The reason I say that is because people(teenagers) or even adults don't have other places to hang out that doesn't involve drinking. Crime usually happens when people are bored and have nothing else to do, but sometimes that isn't true. There are some people that thinks its cool or have peer pressure from friends to do whatever. I am not condoling drinking, but there should be some other activities that everyone can get involved with that doesn't involve drinking or some other crimes.

This has nothing to do with denominational doctrines or agendas. I've said it before that I don't believe in all the religion that you see today where people go pay lip service to God on Sundays and some Wednesdays. This has to do with serving the Living God. Besides, you don't have to explain anything to me red. You will have to stand before Jesus and explain it to Him. Unfortunately, that will be too late. I'm so sorry.

Looks like I'm gonna be a refugee next week. If Gustav doesn't change course though it could be over Natchez on Tuesday or Wednesday...so much for refuge, but I'm comin' home anyway...my son plays his first home senior football game Thursday night, can't miss that! I teased him the other day saying that now that I'm 50 I'm a senior for the third time...he's just on his first...LOL.

Man, this conversation has really run the gamut. Returning to the topic...redusmfan is correct about the structure and mechanical aspects of the existing mall not being designed for nor sufficient for a second floor expansion.

I don't believe that another strip mall is the right answer unless it is done very well architecturally which the rendering associated with the article clearly shows this one isn't. Do you realize that a strip presently exists at every entry/exit in Natchez?

The one extending from the Homochitto intersection with J.R.J. Drive all the way to and through Ferriday is the longest and includes Carter Street in Vidalia with only a few interruptions of levee and farmland. The aggregate visual clutter is tragic.

An interesting note...back in the day, strip malls were the way to go...remember Magnolia Mall and TraceTown?...they were successful for a while until everyone screamed for an enclosed mall. The market responded and put both strip malls practically out of business. Now the trend is back to strip malls. It's not just here either, it is a national trend except in larger cities where the price of land is too high. Walmart has become the indoor mall for most small and medium size communities.

I know that the company that owns or owned both TraceTown and the shopping center next to Riverland Medical Center was trying to divest all of their strip malls ten years ago and couldn't get a nibble.

Some of the reasons the old strip malls failed and the current enclosed malls fail are that the frontage exposure is blocked by quick food restaurants that block the view of the stores in the mall itself.

Another is that they are surrounded by a sea of asphalt that is discouraging to shoppers. Of course the quick food places help hide the cars, but they also hide the stores further back.

Mostly the issue is parking and that is the single largest issue, with the possible exception of suburbanization, that led to the abandonment of downtown shopping in favor of the strip mall. Maybe we should really address downtown parking and make the original strip mall a revitalized one...come back downtown!

Surgetech...I'd wait a week to move or you're going to get very wet.

Petsmart here gets a lot of business...I go to get stuff for my Maine Coon, and so does Academy Sports next door, even on Sundays...but there's a larger population here too...the amenities come with population that has disposable income, Natchez hasn't had that very much lately. No one asked you onelinersayitloud. Considering that you are just as racist and hypocritical as every other hick that lives in that area, you would believe what every one else has to say considering that rumors evade and dominate lives there.
At least notfromnatchez and I (even though you are dumb enough to think we are the same person) have more to comment on than one liners and agreements with another's comment. You are about as independent as an ant (which probably has a larger brain than you). It is an every day delight to remind you of this, you always come and stick your nose somewhere you do not belong. Like I said previously, go play in the kidee pool.
And if you do not feel what I have to say is correct, try doing some RESEARCH which means reading above a 10th grade level (perhaps impossible for you).

Well let's not forget about Olive Garden. Some of the other places posted on here I have never heard of. But anyway. It's wonderful that so many folks are wanting fun things for children to do. I think we all feel that way. But don't forget about us big kids. I'm over 50 and ain't dead yet. I love to swim, skate and walk. And I agree about people not using places as free day care centers. Strict regulations would have to be put in place for that.
I worked at a pet shop and hacked a whole bunch of parents off. When I did not allow them to drop their younguns off. Are these parents crazy?? They didn't know who we were or who else was in the store. That knew the children were in there without parents. Not to mention how the bored kids could terrorize the poor pets. And for anybody that could not resist tapping on an aquarium. You should put a mettle bucket over your head. And let someone else hit it with a crow bar. Then you will know what you are doing to the fish.

Hey Ms "Scientist"....you sure have an awful lot of time on your hands playing on this newspaper!
Scientist.....plaeeeez!!!

Hey Obamayamama!!! I think you and my dog are maybe the same type of scientists!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

SAYITLOUD:
I do not have to answer to you considering your lack of intelligence. Is that really all the come back you have? I mean, come on. If you are smart enough to note, which I know you are not, I do not COPY and PASTE information unlike others. I have a keen perception of what is occurring in the scientific world and do not have to show any evidence of this to a person such as yourself. First, you think I am a black woman, then you think I am the same person as notfrom, NOW you think I am not a scientist.
I am most certain your beliefs stem from lack of understanding that not all people grow up to be losers like you. Go say your nonhumorous one liners with your tacky "ROTFLMAO" to make yourself feel better. All you are doing is presenting evidence that you are only using .005% of your brain tissue.

I present my comments on this website so I can feel that more and more proud that I am not you, that I am so much more in touch with reality than you, and so I discuss, disagree, dispute, and possibly become enlightened. None of the above you would not understand, so LEAVE ME ALONE. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO ADD OF RELIVENCE.

Also, I see your comment almost exceed 2000, who has the time on their hands? Welfare must be paying your bills, wouldn't surprise me at all.

AND hahah I think it is funny how you think a scientist is so much above the realm of reality! HAHAH What should most people grow up to be in your world sayitloud, a receptionist, a cashier at the MARKET, or how about a bank teller? By your "Ms. Scientist" comment, you have proved your occupation is beneath mine, and that just goes to show EVEN MORE how big of a loser you are. Scientifically, you will not last according to "Survival of the Fittest". You will die out like previous bi-pedal primates who just weren't smart enough to keep up.
HAH Man, thanks for making me feel better and better each day about myself and my decision to become what I am. It truely is a unearthly joy to experience this feeling and be thankful that I got out of Natchez away from condemning people like you. WHEW!

P-L-E-A-S-E !!!!!

The Lord Jesus made WINE and it was GOOD wine. He remedied a catering "faux pas" for a young couple in Canaan.

Please also note that He made a LOT of wine at said event. Jesus Christ appreciated QUALITY as well as QUANTITY.

Isn't GLUTTONY a sin?
Is GLUTTONY worse than drinking wine in moderation?

Alcohol in ALL forms (wine, Scotch, marguritas, etc.) are
gifts from the Lord to be used in MODERATION.

Wonder if the fundaMENTALists who are so wine-o-phobic
truly regard GLUTTONY as a sin?

Isn't sin sin?

If so, quit whining about wine/alcohol and push those fat butts/guts away from the table.

Jesus came to save our souls, not to
remove our brains. Please act like it.

Thank you for your support.

Skippy: So if the Lord gave us alcohol and we should enjoy it then he made crack and heroin and we should enjoy it also? I can't take spiritual advice from you anyway. Using vulgar language in your user name shows your lostness. You need to repent of your sins, make Jesus the Lord of your life, and be born again. I feel sorry for you. Please submit to Jesus today.

Thanks Swapmeet.

Yes we should enjoy the benefits
of crack (a.k.a. cocaine) and heroin
in MODERATION.

Here is one way which most would
agree is proper:

"Crack" (derivative of cocaine) and heroin are
given to us by the Lord.
Cocaine is used as an anesthetic
in many medical procedures.
Heroin is used in CIVILIZED
countries to ease the pain of terminal cancer.

The Lord designed our bodies with receptors
which allow cocaine and heroin to work in fighting pain.

Again IN MODERATION ! Problem comes when people use God's gifts inappropriately.

Gluttony comes to mind. Food is a gift from God. Problem comes with eating TOO MUCH
and is called GLUTTONY.

I would not ask you to take spiritual advice
from me. But I do question why YOU make assumptions about the "lostness" of others?

As for "vulgar" language, please be
VERY careful what you want to censor.

"Dammit" is used OFTEN in Bible
utilizing the King James Version favoured
by fundaMENTALists.

Ditto for "hell" which is used quite often
by the Lord Jesus Christ ( Please see passages
in RED ink in some Bibles)

Since you seem to be "into" preaching
and discussing others' "lostness" perhaps
you can enlighten us all.

Please give us YOUR expounded theological
opinion of the following passages containing
"vulgar" (your version anyway) words:

Dueteronomoy 23:2
Zecheriah 9:6
Hebrews 12:8
2 Kings 9:8
2 Peter 2: 1, 3
John 5:29
1 Samuel 25:22
I Kings 14:10
Malachi 2:3
Philip 3:8

So Swapmeet the question remains:
Is GLUTTONY a sin ?

:)

Oh my, how did we come to compare crack with wine? There is NO comparison on any level.

There are many different stores that would be welcomed in a new addition to the old mall. My kids would love to see a Hot Topic, or so sort of shop that leans toward bands and the Gothic side. The stores here are a bit out dated. JCPenny and Burks are for people that or older. The young people in our commuinty need a place to call there own. I agree that more choice that are geared toward the younger crowd is needed. Chuck e Cheese would be an perfect choice for our young ones. I personally have had to buy most of my daughters clothes off line due to the lack of choice in our town. She is an individul that likes to express who she is and plain jeans do not cut it for her.

A larger shop that offers art supplies and comics would be wonderfull. A lot of our kids like to play card games. Why not bring in a shop that supports this. These games use logic and mathmatics and can be a way to get our children to learn in a way that is fun for them.

Ill stop babbling now. I hope this new expantion will bring in things that relate to our children rather than to the people that come to visit and do not live here.

One of the tangent this thread has taken reminded me of
"Judge not lest ye also be judged." and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.". JMHO

As for stores I would love to see a Michael's or a Hobby Lobby. :)

i think we should get rid of the "sammys" and the "it's fashion" no one shops in those. its basically belk and jcpennys. thank goodness for this rue 21 coming in.
i think that we need more actual stores. holister and hot topic is what i plea for.
or get rid of taco casa and put a food place people actually eat at. and the wok?? ew. we need better food. i love Chinese but the wok normally tastes like dog..... get the china buffet people in vidalia to open a place in there. i would be there every day

i think they should have a hot topic or spencers. kids love both of those stores and this could give them job opportunities and get them off the streets. my daughter is going out of town all the time to these stores and her friends as well. these places could make so much money around here.

Hello my fellow Natchez natives,

I was born and raised in Natchez, but fortunately I realized at an early age that with the attitudes and unwelcoming atmosphere that there was no promising future for me within those city limits. I know what some of you may be thinking, but truthfully I love Natchez with a passion that is unfathomable. The younger generation there has limited alternatives in what they do on a day to day basis, and when you dont as a community provide those enlightening and uplifting alternatives to strengthen your own children and siblings......then you leave them to occupy themselves. Fact is we all know that unless the youth are guided in the right direction or at least given a reference point that they are not going to always make the wisest decisions. Oh, and for all you who are still in denial about the segregatory trend and traits of the south that seem to have never left Natchez, it's still there. When people cant get along because they cant let go of the past, it is a problem. Natchez is built and tailored to serve the older community and everyone wonders why no businesses think ONCE about coming.

I once read an article about two prospering cities, both with great potential revenue in natural resources. In both situations it was voted on whether or not to privatize the businesses or not. One city chose to have the business run by the local government and invest in the city itself, the other chose the private route. The two cities are Houston and Natchez, you guess which one is which. The greed of a few diminished the chances of the populous.

Invest in your community and your children. Most of all the children, I was fortunate enough to recieve part of my education outside of Natchez and realized how behind we were. The younger generation, given the right tools can help Natchez prosper, but it's up to the grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and families of our communities to provide these tools.

There still is plenty of hope, but hope alone won't create the change. Its gonna take everyones effort.

Chat92212---I know exactly where you are coming from. I can't go into great detail, for I don't want to reveal myself, which might sound cowardly---but this is a small town where everyone knows everyone and probably does not appreciate all I have to say as GETALIFENATCHEZ. I would like more information about the article comparing Houston to Natchez.... Hard to believe Houston is our nations 4th largest city, is always ranked as one of the best places for job opportunities. Poor little Natchez continues to sputter and spit and takes 2 steps forward and 5 backwards at the same time....It's like comparing apples and oranges, night and day......... Natchez is a beautiful, charming, quaint little town that is ideal for someone who is content making a bare minimum for a living if you are lucky enough to find employment that is not min. wage......

Wow I’m amazed .It took 3 decades for them to realize that there more businesses out there besides Sears and McRays.I think they should add a second floor. And also a bigger and better Theater; because the one they have is rather appalling. We need a Chucky Cheese or a Dave and Busters I mean even Natchez can use that business. Natchez is a nice size town with nothing in it for old or young people. Who wants to bowl or look at old plantation homes all the time? Those old slave homes need to dry rot for all I care.
