Man allegedly drives car into Natchez house

Published Monday, December 15, 2008

NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly drove into a residence.

Scott Fisher Slover, 39, 405 Ash St., Vidalia, was arrested on charges of DUI test refusal after the vehicle he was driving reportedly plowed through a wall and into the bedroom of 17-year-old Hilton Crumb at 2932 Miller Ave.

The police responded to the accident at 5:35 a.m., Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

When Slover was offered the DUI breath test, he reportedly refused to blow, Mullins said.

Hilton Crumb’s mother, Jackee Crumb was laying in her bedroom when she heard the truck crash into the house.

“I heard a loud noise, and I jumped up and ran across the hall and called Hilton’s name,” she said.

The entire cab of the Ford F-150 had come through the window, and it had been stopped by a concrete slab — but not before it collided with Hilton’s bed and moved it, Jakee said.

Hilton had fallen asleep watching television at the foot of the bed, and when the crash occurred it startled him enough that he was able to get away from the danger uninjured.

Even as she stood there, the moment was a little surreal, Jackee Crumb said.

“I said, ‘I can’t believe a truck is in my house,” she said.

Slover was detained on a $771 bond Sunday evening.

Hope that familie's home owner insurance is up to date. His liability won't pay off for an alcohol related accident.

That sucks.....It really does. I drove into a trailor house once.....no one was hurt, or arrested.....and insurance covered it all, but it really sucked. That was my first and only wreck.

Very sad. I am glad the family in the house was alright.

It's not laying in the bedroom--it's lying in the bedroom. A person lays his glasses down, but he himself lies down. Mr. Hogan must have been sleeping through English class, but on the other hand, if you're going to write for a living maybe you should review the textbook.

I am glad to hear the 17 year old is ok, and that he heard the crash. He is very lucky that he was not hurt considering his bed was moved. Very scarry thought!

This is just another example of how absolutely STUPID it is to drink and drive. Someone could have been killed all because this IDIOT chose to drink get behind the wheel . And I would bet that this will not be the last time he does it.

Drunk driving is a VERY selfish behavior. And how come the drunk driver is hardly hurt, it's the innocents who are.

I remember a similar story several several years ago a teenager ran his car into another house in Montebello Gardens and it was the child's (toddler's age) room. All because of drunk driving.

The drunks hardly ever get hurt because their bodies are so relaxed from the alcohol. It's those of us who realize when we are about to be involved in a collision, that tighten up our bodies and thus generally suffer more injuries.

i live in georgia.earlier this year a teenager was killed while sleeping in his bed in this same manner.throw the book at this selfish mania.

We need a
MUG SHOTS
Adams County Jail Booking Blotter.
This will help us to know some of these people.

Good idea, IBD1. Isn't it "freedom of information"? N.Democrat...do you have a pic?

I love going up to TN where they announce the crime reports on the radio. Not everyone reads the paper so this is another way to put those criminals names out there. Mug shots would be good too. They do show them on the news so why not the paper.

If he was drunk he will only get a slap on the wrist like Sherrie Bailey.

Let_us_think..
ONE thing for sure, you are a very PETTY INDIVIDUAL.
I feel sorry for those that have to be around you.

DRUNK DRIVERS that cause wrecks W/O INJURY like this one should be sentenced at atleast 2 yrs for the first offense. They should also serve each day. NO GOOD BEHAVIOR.

How can this guy "allegedly" drive his car into a house? OF COURSE he drove the dadgum thing into that boy's bedroom. There is just no doubt. Does he have to be convicted before we can guarantee the fact that Scott Slover drove into the house? I guess so.

I am glad that no one was hurt, but how far has this got to go for the driver to see that he has a problem.

Posted by revols (anonymous) on December 15, 2008 at 5:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This is not the same Scott Slover who is an attorney.

by the way, B&E and burglary are one and the same crime.

What is the deal with all of the want to be English teachers downing the ND? Maybe you should go to the ND and try typing all of the articles. They don't have any more errors than other newpaper sites.

I am very glad that Hilton was not hurt.

It was my house (in Montebello Gardens) that was hit by a drunk driver 16 years ago. My child was 2 years old. I have pictures of the headlights of the Jeep touching the crib that she was in. Talk about a miracle!

I'm so glad that this story has a happy ending too.

It sounds like to me that Mr. Slover might need to attend an AA meeting. Or at the very least a church to give Thanks he didn't kill someone.

Posted by purecountry (anonymous) on December 16, 2008 at 8:56 a.m. (Suggest removal)

And how is that like putting a loaded gun in someone's hand, please explain.

Posted by naturegirl (anonymous) on December 16, 2008 at 9 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Let_us_think, you are certainly better educated than most people on the ND, or those who write here. Most of us don't care about minor mistakes as long as we get the full story, which we seldom do. It is not going to make any difference in how they (the ND staff) write, to point out all their mistakes. Miss Margaret Martin, of whom the school/Performing Arts Center is named, would circle all the mistakes in the paper in red, then take it down to the ND offices. Said it made her feel like she was still teaching. Miss Chance, another old time teacher, would do the same, but leave the paper at the library so that others might learn from the mistakes in it. What we need now are some really dedicated teachers who get respect, don't try to be friends with the kids. and TEACH.

Yeah, Sherrie Bailey just had another wreck and was arrested for DUI Thanksgiving Eve. Do ya think they are gonna put her in jail this time?
