Natchez resident Ruby Gibbs poses for a photo with New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush. Gibbs won a contest to travel to New Orleans and meet Bush last month.

Local grandma meets Bush

NATCHEZ — A local woman got the treat of a lifetime last month when she won a contest to meet New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush.

Ruby Gibbs won the mail-in contest, sponsored by Pepsi, to meet Bush on Dec. 18 in New Orleans and play a game of Madden NFL 2008 on an X-Box 360.

Gibbs also received the game and the system as a gift.

Gibbs said she never expected to win the contest when she filled out the entry form and mailed it in.

“I was surprised,” she said. “But I was very excited. I made a lot of phone calls.”

Gibbs was one of four winners from around the Southeast, one from each of the Pepsi distributors. Gibbs was sponsored by local distributor Brown Bottling Group.

“She was our winner,” Brown Bottling Group General Sales Manager Moe LeBlanc said. “It was a fun experience for her and us as well.”

Gibbs, who is originally from the New Orleans area, savored the chance to return to the city and meet Bush, who she said was a pleasure to be around.

“He was a pleasant young man,” Gibbs said of the running back. “He was very respectful and took as many pictures and signed as many autographs as was asked of him. He was patient with everyone and didn’t refuse anybody.”

Gibbs wasn’t familiar with the X-Box 360 but said Bush took it easy on her for the first three quarters.

“But in the fourth quarter, he showed me what all he knew,” she said with a laugh.

While meeting Bush was a delight for Gibbs, it also made her much more popular with her two grandsons, ages 15 and 11.

“The grandchildren were so excited,” she said. “They can’t wait to see grandma now.”

But they shouldn’t expect their grandmother to give them the X-Box and Madden NFL 2008 game. Gibbs said she plans on keeping it.

“I’ll enjoy watching them play with it when they come to visit,” Gibbs said. “And who knows, maybe they can show me some things too.”

Why do people get so worked up about meeting a 3rd string overhyped RB? Unfortunately for Reggie he's another overrated Heisman Trophy winner who hasn't proven his mettle out on the NFL field.

Karma is a mofo.com, Reg, better fess up on the goings on at USC, otherwise your career might last, ohhhhhh, about three or four more seasons. You can't carry Deuce's jockstrap, LOL.

Vince Young should have won the Heisman that year.

Yeah, there are even some reports that they Reggie and Kim, are engaged. She is also the female who made the infamous, widely viewed and shown internet sex tape with Brandy's little brother, RayJ. Now, if he counts her in the class category, enough to even be seen in public with her and date her, that says a LOT about his judgement.

Peacerulz, I don't know if this is correct, but for those who really want to know who this female is, isn't she Bruce Jenner's step-child? You know, the big time Olympic athlete from back in the day?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Kardashian (February 22, 1944 – September 30, 2003) was an Armenian-American lawyer who was best known as a friend of O.J. Simpson. In the days following the murders, O.J. Simpson stayed in Kardashian's house. Kardashian was the man seen carrying Simpson's garment bag the day Simpson flew back from Chicago. Prosecutors speculated the bag may have contained Simpson's bloody clothes and/or the murder weapon.

When O.J. Simpson failed to turn himself in at 11 a.m. on June 17, 1994, Kardashian, a friend of Simpson, then read a letter by Simpson to the collected media. In the letter Simpson said, "First everyone understand I had nothing to do with Nicole's murder.... Don't feel sorry for me. I've had a great life." To many this sounded like a suicide note and the reporters then actively joined the search for Simpson. When the final verdict of not guilty was rendered during the criminal trial, Kardashian is best remembered by the stunned look of disbelief on his face while the verdict was read.

Kardashian and Simpson first met while playing tennis in the early 1970s and had become close friends. When Simpson was charged with murder, it had been 20 years since Kardashian was last in a courtroom. Kardashian, a graduate of University of San Diego School of Law, had let his license to practice law expire three years before. He reactivated his license to aid in Simpson's defense, as a volunteer on his legal team. Kardashian sat by Simpson throughout the trial.

Some time after the trial, Kardashian expressed doubts about O.J. Simpson's innocence in a way that led to a California bar investigation.[1] Although this strained his relationship with O.J. Simpson at the time, by the time of his death they had "put it aside" and after his death, Simpson said "Bob was there when I
neede him most.

Kardashian died of esophageal cancer on September 30, 2003.

He is the father of three daughters, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Khloe Kardashian and one son, Robert Jr., with former wife Kris Jenner. In October 2007, a reality television show featuring his children and ex-wife, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, debuted on the E! Television Network.
