Three arrested for allegedly running meth lab
Published Wednesday, January 30, 2008
Natchez — Three locals were arrested Monday night after they were allegedly discovered to be running a meth lab in Natchez.
Robert Mahony Jr., 40, 603 Oak St., was charged with seat belt violation, driving under suspension, two counts of manufacturing crystal methamphetamines, possession of methamphetamines and a precursor violation.
A precursor violation is when a person possesses two or more ingredients used in the manufacture of illegal controlled substances.
Lisa Knapp and James Luke McNeely, both of Monterey, were also arrested on charges of acting in concert with the manufacture of methamphetamines.
Metro Narcotics received a warrant for the search at Mahony’s residence after an officer noticed the strong smell of ether — a chemical used in the manufacture of meth — coming from Mahony’s vehicle during a traffic stop shortly after 5 p.m., Metro Narcotics Commander Cliff Cox said.
During the search, the Mississippi Clandestine Laboratory Team found three different batches — or “cooks” — of meth being manufactured, Cox said.
Among items reportedly seized were a firearm, precursor chemicals used in the manufacturing process and a bottle with the chemicals already mixed and ready to cook, Cox said.
The chemicals were handled and disposed by a hazardous materials team.
Because the Oak Street address Mahony allegedly used is within 1,500 feet of a school, church or playground, Mahony faces enhanced drug charges as required by state law.

It's about time something was done over there! WTG Metro! I know several women who even though they need to go to the Shelter won't go because of the drug situation over there. They don't want their children exposed to the drugs, they'd rather stay in a life threatening situation and know their kids aren't on drugs than get out only to have someone selling their kids drugs. The shelter is supposed to be a safe place for these women and their children. Maybe now that the manufacturers are off the streets and it won't be so easily accessable it will at least slack up a bit over that way.

GO METRO !
Thanks for getting these "pharmaceutical engineers" off the streets and also AWAY from the women and children @ the Guardian Shelter.
KUDOS BIG TIME !
Please delight us again with MANY future "performances" of this nature !
ANY time you can remove those drugs from our streets along with the ones responsible is a time for celebration.
Now we can only pray the "system" works to keep them off the streets for awhile.
p.s.
( Why don't we all dig deep and give a donation to the Guardian Shelter or the NCH every time Metro makes a big bu$t ? Just a thought !.....: )

This is fantastic. excellent job metro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One lab down, PLENTY more to go, but at least one is out of commission.
To me, these people deserve the bookthrown at them, no warnings, no probabtion, hard time.
Remember judges, these are the people that could be selling to your grand babies.

If people really knew the ingredients of some of this POISON, they would probably think before they injested this crap, not to mention the explosive nature of the chemicals, but then again, thinking requires a brain with active brain cells and.... uh, forget it.
Good going on the bust!

Oh wow, I know this guy. It is ashamed his life came to this. Ten years ago, he was just an ordinary, nice person. He will never see freedom again.

Attaboy Cliff!!
I've seen so many people have their lives cut short and/or traumatized by these hard drugs, some people just can't keep from trying that stuff, then the addiction takes over.........
Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on January 30, 2008 at 9:52 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Yes, I guess that's true. Beau was doing this stuff when I knew him. And I have lost friends to drugs many times because they do not want to turn away from the high life. I did not know he lost his daughter. How sad... But at the same time, his manufactured products are now off the market and that is great. Crystal Meth is the new "crack" in the Western US (possibly due to Mexico distribution). It is good to see that Cliff was at the right place at the right time.
Hopefully, Beau can find help rather it be through God, self enlightenment, rehab, or however.

I don't know how it is in Natchez but where I live,
you first must get this past the district attorney
before the judges can do their thing and unfortunately, this isn't easily done. Folks, keep
this incident in mind and just watch your DA.
The legal wrangling and loopholes are astounding.

Why on earth would someone from Monterey want to go to Natchez to cook Meth when they can get away with it in Monterey. Hell everybody cooks it down there and gets away with it. Expecially now that the election is over, there is no patrol. You crack heads need to wise up and quit making stupid decisions like this one.
Posted by thedude (anonymous) on January 30, 2008 at 12:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Its to bad that Clifford can't work in Monterey, hell he would never run out of work. But the problem is Concordia parish doesn't want that. If they were to bring in someone as dedicated as Clifford than that would expose how corrupt our parish really is. It is all in who you know, everybody knows somebody to get them out of trouble. The problem is the ignert people who think they are doing them a favor by bailing them out when they get in trouble. A crime is a crime, you should be punished for it no matter who you know. When people start using their heads instead of their hearts, they will realize what is happening. Arresting meth heads will never end as long as people keep the attitude of just slapping them on the wrist. Our area needs to quit living in denial about their family members and quit letting embaressment cause them to make poor decisions.

read some of this stuff and you'll see just HOW STUPID THE PPL THAT DO THIS REALLY ARE! i'm cracking up just looking at the chemicals in this stuff, though it's not really funny. they even use gun cleaning solvent and Red Devil Lye, which is used as a drain-cleaner. would you care for and a little BATTERY ACID to go with?!

I know Lisa and Luke very well and I am shocked completely that lisa was involved in such a horrible thing. I hate it for her family. Drugs are taking over and until the judges and D.A. office does something about it they will continue to take over.

Good bust, now watch the D.A.'s office roll over and play stupid.

N2be18again, I am not trying to be mean or anything but I find it hard to say that you know Lisa that well! It has been seven years since my mother passed away and Lisa was her home health nurse and my family and I knew that she was on meth...We asked around to confirm what we thought after the way she acted while caring for my mom and requested another nurse I don't even know her and am from Natchez and it was more than obvious to my family and I that she was high as a kite seven years ago and everyone that we spoke with said it was common knowledge that she used, produced, and sold drugs to anyone even minors...

Shocked to know that lisa & luke does/deals drugs?? now I don't give a d*mn who you are that's funny... people you can spot a meth head a mile away atleast I can- First off you notice their crummy blacked out gap'd out teeth or tooth shall I say.... All I know is if any of them every sell to any of mine, it would be their last. We need some busts like that in concordia parish, especially monterey it's eat up with the crap & if I know & so & so knows who's doing it DO NOT tell me the law doesn't?? but then I guess they got to "PROTECT" their kin don't they.... We need to get a new DA that's got some brass balls but that would take a divine intervention.

Babygirl, they dont all have bad teeth, even though that is the sterotype. Parents dont get a false sense of security just because your kid has great teeth!
some meth heads definitely dont fit the image that we all would like to conjure up in our minds.
They wear the Dolce shoes, carry Coach purses, drive expensive new cars, they look amazing.

UMM... Lucas doesn't have messed up teeth. He's a really nice guy and very good looking, just taken over by his addiction. I know several people who look normal but are on some sort of drug, whether it be cocaine, meth, whatever. I'm by no means condoning what they do just letting you all know that the stereotype of "druggies" does not include every single person on drugs. Sometimes they aren't easy to spot.
Oh and just FYI, (lol) I might have a little mean streak in me but I wouldn't ever hurt a cute little kitty!! I couldn't ever bring myself to torture any animal. I'm way too softhearted for that! The one time I did see the cat get duct tape on its feet I couldn't make up my mind whether I wanted to cry or laugh. It was funny but they were being mean... I was torn! Anyway, I digress.

Well... it is not just Monterey crack heads making a run to Natchez. It is Vidalia and Ferriday too, same crack heads.
I know Lucas too and it is sad how drugs destroy lives, not just their own but their families and their children. Everyone knows who does what in Conordia Parish...come on! I can guess that it will be a while now before the crack heads from Monterey comes accross the bridge to Natchez. They will just stay in Concordia Parish for awhile.

Yeah you'll find people here and there but for the most part we are all good and don't try clumping us in a drug clump! What town these days doesn't have the same?

OMG in my own backyard. The cops have been called several times on these two because of domestic fights. This has been a party house for quite a while. When Mr. Jack was the security guard at the Guardian Shelter, he would run off all the drunks and keep an eye on who was coming and going in the area. The ones we have now don't step outside unless it is to smoke. I sure do miss him being here.
This is just a crumb in the cake of drugs within a 5 block radius of the shelter.
Good job Ntz police force
