July starts off with a bang

Fourth of July fireworks welcomed more than the holiday this year, as elected officials on both sides of the river took the oath of office and began new terms. But the politicians weren’t the only ones making news this week. Let’s review some of the good headlines the first week in July brought us.
4More than 500 people gathered in town this weekend to reminisce, catch up and say, “Oh, you haven’t aged a bit.” The Sadie V. Thompson Era Reunion was in town, bringing with it lots of Natchezians from far and wide. The large crowd livened things up this weekend and surely spent a great deal of money in town. We were glad to see the familiar faces again, and we hope they’ll be back soon.
4For the Fourth, the Natchez Downtown Development Association sponsored a variety of downtown events. The group had their second in the outdoor movie series. And they welcomed locals and guests to take it easy to some tunes along the bluff.
Fireworks lit up the sky Friday night, in an event that always brings the community together like no other.
4And Saturday, the tight-knit community at Lake St. John celebrated its annual flotilla. Thanks to Ryan Paul and Jack Myers for making sure the tradition happened.
Only one month remains before the rush of school kicks in again. Let’s enjoy the summer and wait for the good news to keep on coming.
