Routine patrol leads to drug arrests

Published Saturday, July 19, 2008

NATCHEZ — A routine patrol by the Metro Narcotics Unit led to multiple arrests Wednesday night.

Metro Narcotics Unit Cmdr. Cliff Cox said his unit along with Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies were doing neighborhood enhancement patrol — a program in which both agencies are proactive in trying to prevent crime.

Cox said they get out and investigate if they see any suspicious activity.

And they did.

Five people were arrested and booked at Adams County Sheriff’s Office that day.

Marvin Earl Robb Jr., 19, 22 Pineview Drive, was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $1,500 bond.

Tavares Jamail Letcher, 28, 200-A Ford St., was arrested on charges of obstructing traffic, misdemeanor possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor possession of promethazine. He is being held on a $1,018 bond.

Carlos Yates, 35, 173 St. Catherine St., was arrested on charges of felony possession of promethazine. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Two other arrests were made on outstanding warrants.

Christopher Mancini Combs, 25, 135 Creek Bend Road, Apartment K-75, was arrested for probation violation and was released on a warrant recall.

Lance White, 31, 28 Foster Mound Road, was arrested on charges of four counts of failure to pay child support. He was released on $2,260 bond.
