Man charged for school vandalism
Published Monday, June 9, 2008
NATCHEZ — Less than a month after someone vandalized Trinity Episcopal Day School’s football field and school bus, the Natchez police say they have the culprit.
Christopher Moon of 111 Elm St. in Vidalia was charged with malicious mischief in the May 17 incident and released on $2,000 bond.
“We did an investigation and were able to get enough information to charge him,” Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
“We expect him to pay damages through the courts.”
The extent of those damages is still unknown said Delecia Seay Carey, head of school for Trinity. About $500 in damage was done to the field but the cost of the broken sprinkler heads has not been determined. Also, damage to the bus was estimated at $1,900, not including the mural, which was initially donated.
“We still don’t have an estimate of what it will cost to redo the mural on the bus,” Carey said.
Carey said she was also glad that the suspect was not affiliated with any other school.
“I’m relieved that it wasn’t one of our students or a student from any of our local schools,” Carey said. “I felt like that had the potential to incite a bunch of silly school rivalry.”

I’m waiting on some negative comments... This happen at Trinity if it was Natchez High the comments would have been filled with bad things. I’m waiting for to say things like thugs, ignore, pathetic. Since it’s Trinity we will get comments saying, “ kids will be kids”.

thick...I don't care who they are or what color they are...a thug is a thug and the dude who did this is a thug. Bottom line...no other points matter. He was caught and will pay for it.

He was caught, which is good. But I wonder...will he really pay for the damages? I hope so.After our break in, we were never compensated for the loss, as told we would be.

Cane him at center court in the Mall Saturday morning.

thick is just telling the truth. Let's just see how this story unfolds.

USMBOY,
I agree to letting the story play out. The ND printed just enough story on the purse snatching to get peeps involved. Nothing else. We had to speculate on the whole story.

Thanks USMBOY. I'm not racist its the people on here. Someone always make racist comments and I just want to see what kind of comments people will post on this topic. I have never made comments on Natchez Democrat that degrading people. Some people don’t care what they say. People even say bad things when a person has been killed. People just don’t care.

Definitely a bone head thing to do. He should man up on his own and pay for damages, the court should not have to make him do it. Better yet some real community service, when people do things like this take away their free time, they obviously have too much of it. Maybe he should have to wash the bus inside and out after every trip it makes; clean up after football games on Friday nights and EARLY on Saturday mornings.
I'm sure Moon isn't a bad person or a thug, just made a bad decision one night. I promise the thought of getting up before daylight to pick up garbage or cleaning after a bunch of teenagers on a long bus ride is enough to deter Hambone from doing something like this.

Yep Ham! Instead of just washing the bus down, make him ride with the football boys every game! Imagine how he'd feel with those boys breathing down his neck, waiting for him to step out of line. For Mr. Moon, it would be the ultimate in shame. The point is to teach him a lesson...not imprison him and create a criminal! Now I'm thinking of it, maybe judges should make offenders do shameful things like walk around holding a billboard denoting their crime. Heck, I don't know...like sayitloud says...I'm just sayin....

jeez--some people can turn the sun rising in the morning into a racial discussion.
Grow up!

thick1982,
If you were really waiting on what was going to be posted, then you would not have commented. Looks like you are the one trying to make this a racial issue...now who is the better person?

Another thing...this person did not attend Trinity or any of the local schools(read last paragraph of the article), so why does the name of the school vandalized, determine the type of comments viewers will leave?? That kind of has nothing to do with it.

This has nothing to do with this article, but I thougt some of you might like a heads up on something that my air conditioner repairman told me. I have had to have freon put in my unit twice in 3 weeks and this morning the caps(I guess where you put the freon in) were off and laying on the ground. The repairman said there have been kids huffing freon out of peoples units in Natchez and Vidalia. He said it has been happening to businesses and homes. He put caps on it this time that require a wrench to be removed. Not only do I not want to find a dead teenager in my yard one morning, I also do not want to pay for more freon because some nut is huffing mine. I live in a good neighborhood and my compressor is behind a locked gate, so I'm hoping having to have a wrench is a deterrent. Just thought you might want to be aware of this.

Hey notabigot,
I just thougt of something...let's hope the people who do this don't read the paper online because now they will know to carry wrenches with them when they are taking freon out of a/c units....! Just joking with you. Thanks for the "heads up."

Another heads up. Kids are using the compressed air that blows out your computer to get high also and it is deadly.

If this would have been at Natchez high the headline would have read: Man With Ties to Natchez High charged with Vandalism Then the article. A man who once passed by Natchez High on the highway has been charged with vandalism. He has no other ties with NHS but we wanted to make NHS look bad once again in the paper . . . .
