TWENTY YEARS AGO — South Natchez’s Jason Simmons plays at second base and right field and goes 1-for-3, but the South All-Stars fall to the North All-Stars 6-5 in eight innings at the 4A/5A All-Star Baseball Game

TEN YEARS AGO — Port Gibson girls head coach Harold Liggans will be one of the coaches for the Mississippi All-Star girls team when it takes on the Alabama All-Star girls team at A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Recent Vidalia High graduate and The Democrat’s All-Metro Player of the Year Miranda Doughty signs a scholarship with the University of Louisiana-Monroe and is projected to be a pitcher there.
