TWENTY YEARS AGO — Bryan Morgan pitches a no-hitter while Craig Beesley goes 2-for-4 with a triple and Bill Horne goes 2-for-4 with a double as Big Joe defeats Smith Printing 6-0 in Natchez Dixie Majors action.

TEN YEARS AGO — Elbert “Mo” Lyles, who played high school football at South Natchez and was Wilkinson County’s head football coach from 1990-1995, is named the new head football coach at Natchez High.

FIVE YEARS AGO — LSU shortstop Aaron Hill, Southern Miss outfielders Jeff Cook and Clint King, and Mississippi State starting pitcher Paul Maholm are named to the ABCA All-South Region First team.
