TWENTY YEARS AGO — Natchez’s Chandler Russ shoots a 2-over-par 73 to win the Southwest regional qualifier of the Independent Insurance Agents of Mississippi Junior Golf Tournament at Belwood Country Club.

TEN YEARS AGO — Vidalia High senior pitcher Kelly O’Neal, Vikings senior first baseman Seth Greer, and Vikings freshman second baseman Jarrett Hoffpauir, are named to the Class 2A All-State second team.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Shane Costa hits a three-run home run in the third inning and three Cal State Fullerton pitchers hold LSU to just five hits as the Titans defeat the Tigers 8-2 in Game 1 of the College World Series.
