Ferriday chief resigns abruptly

Published Monday, June 16, 2008

FERRIDAY — Ferriday Police Chief Richard Madison officially resigned as chief of police Monday effective Tuesday.

Ferriday mayor Gene Allen said he received Madison's letter of resignation Monday, and that he would accept it.

The reason for the resignation is unknown at this time.

Assistant Chief Margaret Lawrence will serve as the chief for the next two weeks, Allen said.

Madison had 14 days left in office before the as yet unknown new chief of police appointed by mayor-elect Glen McGlothin took office.

I could have some fun speculating about this breaking news. Something tells me Madison has been railroaded. Maybe he refuses to serve another 14 days under the current administration. Could you blame him?

Better offer maybe? I sure hope so. I'm sure with the oppurtunity he'd make a good chief. Unfortunately he had to serve under Weenie Geneie. That's as far as I'm gonna take my speculations at this time. :)
