TWENTY YEARS AGO — Chandler Russ of Natchez shoots a 1-under-par 71 to take a one-shot lead over Benjie Nelson and Chad Ginn of Clinton in the first round of the Mississippi Golf Association Junior Championship.

TEN YEARS AGO — Kyle Dunaway scores the game-winning winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as David New Oil defeats Carpet Sales & Service 12-11 to win the Dixie Youth 9-10 city championship.

FIVE YEARS AGO — A field of approximately 80 players, including Sally Durkin, Betsy Powell, Pat Dickens and Peggy McCall of Natchez, will compete in the Mississippi Women’s State Amateur at Beau Pré.
