FERRIDAY — Huntington knew WCCA had a good team, and the Rams proved it by defeating the Hounds 7-2 in a district game in Ferriday Tuesday afternoon.

WCCA scored three runs in the first and second innings and took an early six-run lead over Huntington.

“We didn’t perform well at all,” Huntington coach Mitch Ashmore said. “We didn’t pitch well and we didn’t hit well and our lack of concentration put us out of the game early.”

The Rams took a 7-0 lead after the fourth inning and never looked back.

Huntington scored one run in the fifth and sixth innings, but couldn’t continue the momentum and allowed WCCA to take the win.

“Our defense played solid the entire game. That’s become a luxury for us this year,” WCCA head coach Ray Olive said. “We came out aggressive and it paid off for us.”

Olive earned the win for WCCA while Jordan Wilson dropped the decision for Huntington.

Brandon Simon was 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and two RBIs for WCCA.

Jordan Jones batted 2-for-3 with a double, a single and an RBI for Huntington in the loss.

Huntington travels to Riverdale Friday for a non-district game.

WCCA travels to Tallulah Thursday for a district match-up.
