ACCS runs out of innings, loses to Amite

NATCHEZ — ACCS and Amite School Center slugged it out for seven innings, but it was ultimately Amite who would take a 16-9 win over Adams County.

“Amite came out ready to play,” ACCS head coach Hunter McKeiver said. “Their coaches did a good job of preparing them for this game.”

Amite took a 13-1 lead over ACCS after three innings, but Adams County would fight back.

After recording the first out, Amite walked three Adams County batters to load the bases.

Following a strikeout and another walk, Dustin Carroll hit a two-run double to right field.

T.J. Johnson would follow Carroll with a three-run home run to left field and picked Adams County’s spirits up.

Trailing 16-8 headed into the bottom of the seventh inning, ACCS could only manage one run, giving Amite the victory.

“We came out flat,” McKeiver said. “We did a good job hitting though.”

Cole Wells earned the victory for Amite while Britton McCall was handed the loss for Adams County.

Alex Badon batted 3-for-5 for Amite with a home run, a double, a single, and an RBI while teammate Casey Kelton batted 3-for-5 with two singles and a double.

Johnson was 4-for-5 with three singles, a home run and four RBIs and for ACCS.

Carroll also added a 3-for-5 effort for the Rebels with two singles, a double and two RBIs.

ACCS faces Riverfield Tuesday at home.
