Lady Vikings take one

VIDALIA — The Vidalia Lady Vikings split a pair of games Saturday at the Vidalia Softball Tournament, losing to the Franklin Parish Lady Patriots 4-1 and then shutting out the LaSalle Lady Tigers 3-0.

Vidalia wound up going 2-2 over the two-day tournament. The Lady Vikings were defeated Friday by the Caldwell Parish Lady Spartans 3-1 before getting past the Rayville Lady Hornets 3-2. Caldwell Parish then defeated LaSalle, Franklin Parish and Rayville on Saturday to go 4-0 in winning its pool.

Vidalia returns to action in District 3-3A on Monday when in plays at Avoyelles beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Monterey won its pool despite going 2-2 after losing both of its games Saturday. The Lady Wolves were no-hit by Vicksburg pitcher K. Shelby in a 1-0 loss to the Missy Gators in the morning and then in an afternoon game, Harrisonburg held on for a 5-4 win.

On Friday, Holli Clay pitched a no-hitter and Ariel Hector had a double in Monterey’s 6-0 win over the Block Lady Bears in their first game of the tournament. Clay then went 2-for-2 and pitched a three-hitter in the Lady Wolves’ 11-3 win over the Mangham Lady Dragons.
