Chase leads to bust

Published Thursday, May 8, 2008

NATCHEZ — What began as a routine traffic stop turned into a car chase then a major drug bust Tuesday.

Commander of the Metro Narcotics Unit, Cliff Cox, said when officers attempted to pull over a truck in the Roselawn Subdivision the driver, Tyron Wilson, 20, 18 Myrtle Drive, led them on a chase through the neighborhood.

Cox said as the truck sped through the subdivision “numerous ounces of cocaine,” were thrown from the vehicle.

Cox said as officers attempted to box in Wilson, and his passenger, Larry Hardin, 28, 2713 Marquette Ave., also know as Peter Rabbit, Wilson rammed one officer’s vehicle before Hardin took off on foot.

Once the two men were apprehended a search warrant for Hardin’s home was obtained.

At Hardin’s home officers recovered more cocaine and several thousand dollars in cash.

Cox said 11.66 ounces of cocaine, with an approximate value of $30,000, and $20,654 in cash were ultimately taken off the streets.

Judge Charles Vess said both men will be place on a $250,000 bond.

“We can’t tolerate this kind of activity,” he said.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday morning.

I am so glad they have these guys in custody.
I hate that area...I see little girls in private school uniforms turning into that neighborhood after school, I know what they are going in there for. The drug use is so bad.
Parents, dont just believe every word your kid says....drug test them and get them help.

Little girls who go to private school live in that area. Perhaps we should wonder what YOU were doing in THAT neighborhood????

Bond or no bond?

Judge Charles Vess said both men will be "place" on a $250,000 bond.

Yo, Peace007,
My mom lives in that neighborhood. It is about 50/50 and only a few of any of those kids at all, go to private school. It is just as likely that they were in that neighborhood dealing to some of the adults as they were dealing to kids. Cocaine is now more accessible to the average druggie as crack. Read some recent studies on line and you will see that it is no longer a yuppie drug. It is now being used by average housewife and 50 year old pawpaw as well as teens...It could be that they are in that neighborhood dealing to people of any race creed or religion, not just young whitey...

Sorry to bust your bubble...Dont try to point the finger and the finger in the mirror will not point back at you.

Posted by mike8427 (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 7:52 a.m. (Suggest removal)

redman, I think you meant to point that comment at Ntzmom. I go in that neighborhood sometimes too, its behind the old A/B motor co. right? Its sad to see how it has fallen apart over the years.

Posted by hellcat (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 7:58 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes it says no bond now but the law requires each person to be given a bond I think it's withing 48 hours. I believe the officer was speaking out of turn about the bond in the article but he had to have already talked to the judge to get the search warrant and it was probably mentioned then.
The drugs in that neighborhood are rampant and I am glad these men were busted. What puzzles me is everyone knows about the drug problem there and this just happened to be a routine traffic stop that turned into a bust. Sounds like Metro Narc got lucky, not that they did anything about it.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 8 a.m. (Suggest removal)

It was meant for BOTH OF THEM. Dont try to say that only white prepie kids are using cocaine, is is being used by all races under the sun in America today. It is epedimic proportions in our society today and I am tired of the stereotypes. If they were in there dealing, go find the users too. I do not care if they are white, blacks, red, or brown. Go find the users and after they serve there time, get them so help....but do it AFTER they serve there time.

Peter Rabbit...isn't that the rabbit who couldn't resist stealing from Mr. McGregor? I would have found a better name, too, sayitloud.

Posted by firered (Elizabeth Geter) on May 8, 2008 at 8:38 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree redusmfan. Its not just young white preppie kids doing the stuff anymore. One time I had an old scuzzy man offer me some of that crap and I know a lot of black people who do it as well. (or well have heard about it) That is scary stuff and every drug bust we have is another step forward in the Drug War we are attempting to fight in Natchez. And some jail time wouldn't hurt some of the people out there who need help. Maybe that's what some of these kids who are addicted to that stuff needs, for their parents to leave them in jail for a little while before they ship their butts to rehab. But I will say this. Rehab will NEVER work if the addict is not the one who is wanting they help. If they don't wanna quit they aren't gonna quit. Talk to some of the recovering addicts around here I'm sure they will tell you the same...

Peter Rabbit huh? He didn't make though the bunny trail! Alright Cliff Cox for getting these drugs off the streets.

Posted by Peace007 (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 9:13 a.m. (Suggest removal)

No, red, I wasn't pointing the finger at anyone...I was just saying that if NtzMom saw some white girls wearing private school uniforms going into a certain neighborhood, that doesn't mean they were there for drugs. They may have been going into that neighborhood to see their white grandma, who may not have moved from the old neighborhood just because blacks had moved in next door. And I was also pointing out that if it was suspicious for private school uniform wearing girls to be seen in a certain area, it would also be suspicious for NtzMom to be in that same area to see them there. I'm not even sure which neighborhood NtzMom was referring to...Roselawn, or out in the Morgantown area which is where Myrtle Street is located. Lots of people, have in the past, and still go thru Roselawn as a shortcut between Sgt Prentiss and Montebello Parkway. So, you can't just associate someone to being there for drugs just because they are spotted passing thru an area.

Some of your biggest drug users come from upper class white subdivisions, so when you see private school uniformed girls driving thru Beau Pre or Elgin, do you associate them to being there to cop some drugs?

Posted by kpage (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 9:26 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Drugs do not know color. They attack any neighborhood, family, or school system. The devil only wants us to blame it on color or socio-economic background to divert our attention away from his true intentions.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 9:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Drug users may come from upper class white subdivisions but not the drug dealers. The users aren't the problem, it's the suppliers. Once the supply is relinquished, the user will either look somewhere else, or find something better to do.

The dealers are the ones who make the money and PAY NO TAXES. That is why there are able to drive Escalades with 80" rims (some of those rims costs as much as $3000 a rim!)

Posted by kpage (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 9:42 a.m. (Suggest removal)

obamayamama...the users will look somewhere else when their main supplier is out, but they will not find something better to do. They usually find something really bad to do. Those are the one's who break into our homes and steal our stuff, or hurt our loved ones.
It ticks me off too to see them ride around in fine automobiles, free of Uncle Sam. Watch where their homes are...tarpaper shacks with stinky, mean dogs to guard em'.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 10:35 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The reason that I see most of the addicts getting out of rehab and doing drugs again is because we send them in the rehab unit and tell them it is NOT their fault they are druggies. We do not punish them in rehab for being druggies. we coddle them and stroke their little egos and send them back out with a "support group" of fellow addicts and tell them to go and be productive...

What a crock. First, let them serve some time first for breaking the law. Then put them in rehab when they get out. It is against the law to abuse illegal drugs. they have to possess them before the use it....

We try not to offend anyone in this society, but it is time we quit coddling all these people....It is time for some tough love. Kick them in the butt and then they can get some help.

Anybody agree???

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 10:38 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree with that. The parents of most of these druggies keep forking out money (for rehap) and support. The druggie abuses that and continues to find dope.

I have seen several cases where this happens. The parents do not want to be overcome with guilt for letting go of the support for their daughter/son. Sometimes, nothing helps. For some people, being on drugs is all that matters (and all that ever will) in life.

I say rehabilitate the ones that can be rehabilitated. After the first or second try, give up. Nothing can help these druggies but themselves.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 10:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The only winners are the drug dealers, and that is just not fair.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 10:42 a.m. (Suggest removal)

A trip to jail for a year or so would help a lot of them. But parents keep bailing their butts out, all in the name of "good" parenting...when what they have actually done is NOT let their kids face the reality of consequences for their actions...ARGH!!!!.....

Here we go again, the race issue again. I agree just because someone goes in a neighborhood where drugs are being sold does not mean that their going to buy drugs. It's doesn't matter what color they are, whether they go to private schools, or how much money they have, we as a community need to try to talk to all kids about drugs. While you keep pointing fingers at the races try to get out and talk to these kids. PRAY for these communites and our kids that's coming up in them. Put RACE out of your minds and pitch in to help.

Hmmm.... ok, lharris, so you are supporting the person that was carrying 11.66 ounces of cocaine, with an approximate value of $30,000, and $20,654 in UNTAXED cash!

Are you INSANE????
I do agree that Natchezians bank account status ranks their hierarchy. But white males (and females) are targeted just the same as "black males". And if these people feel they are "targets" in Natchez, then MOVE AWAY, go to school, accomplish goals, and succeed in life. I did.

I have absolutely NO SYMPATHY for these guys that got CAUGHT! It is time for Natchez authorities to crack down, look at what Natchez is coming to; people are moving away to get away from this type of society. And you are feeling sorry for them. THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH NATCHEZ. People get caught with 11.66 ounces of cocaine and $20,654 in cash, and you support them!

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 11:21 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Guess the cash ($20, 654) is a good reason to support these characters. Maybe some of that cash was making its way into YOUR hands lharris.

Well auntee lharris, what are you? Totally in denial? He was busted with cocaine, an illegal drug, that he was going to distribute all over Natchez and Adams County. So, I guess he can hold his head up in JAIL!!!!!!!!!

WAKE UP!!! You are making excuses for him right here online. That is exactly what I am talking about. You are coddling him right here...He is a dealer and needs to be punished appropriately. He needs to serve time and he can reflect on his crime while he sits in a cell.

Auntee L, let the court system punish him and maybe he will not do it over and over like so many others have.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!

To the ones who said "What was I doing in the neighborhood?"
I wasnt , but I often drive pass the entrances into roselawn...I would not drive through there for any reason, I would be too afraid of being shot.

I was NOT stereotyping rich little whities. HOWEVER, my relative was one, and her friends , while in high school did get into drugs, and they bought it in roselawn and over behind a carwash near cathedral.
I tried talking to the parents, but all were in denial that their kids would do that.
My family did get my relative out of the upper scale loop, sent her to treatment and they still worry everyday if the problem will ever rip their hearts out again. An addict is never cured, they fight the urges for the rest of their lives.

So, all I am really saying is that is the kids that you would NEVER ever think do drugs, that need some parenting and need to be watched alot closer.

Most people would be amazed at who does illegal drugs. I bet that everyone on this post knows several people who do drugs of one sort or another, you just don't know it. Trust me. I was a very bad drug user some years ago so I know how it works. I did things with people that no one would ever think were involved in such things. Business owners, politicians, cops, prominent people in the community; you name it. What people need to realize is that not all harmful drugs are of the illegal sort. Have you checked your medicine cabinet lately. Are all your prescriptions still there? I know more people who have ruined their lives on prescription medications than on anything else. Just realize that not all drugs are bought at crack houses and car washes.

County Boy, I know what you mean...it hits at every family in this country now, If you want to see the face of a potential junkie, just look in the mirror. It can happen to anyone, people that have never been in trouble before. But we still need to let the court do its job when they catch someone selling or using drugs. It will help. It will show what the consequences are for the actions.

Have a great day.

Oh lharris.... It doesn't matter if the cops knew what they were doing or not. They had reason to obtain a search warrant for this guy's house... HE WAS IN POSSESSION OF A LARGE AMOUNT OF COCAINE. I mean come on.. I bet you still believe he has done no wrong! You are a typical example of what we are trying to say about parents (and family members) being enablers. You make it seem like its ok to these people to be going out and selling or purchasing drugs.. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. The longer you coddle them the longer they will have a problem.

Think about it... The person he was going to sell it to is someone's child, maybe even someone's mother or father, sister or brother, aunt or uncle. You enabling this DRUG DEALER is causing pain and suffering to many others. Have you ever thought about that? And another thing, he was in possession of COCAINE not very far from an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.. What if he would have been successful when he was running and dropped some of that cocaine at the school or the DAYCARE nextdoor and one of the kids got a hold of it? Have you thought about that?

this is for redusmfan, obamayamama, and daris.no i work 44 hrs a week and pay taxes out of the wazoo on my salary.my nephew is no drug dealer and i don't personally know mr peter rabbit.i am responding because of all the comments here from people who don't know the real story because of your sorry @#! gossip crew in a town where so many people don't have any business of their own to keep up with they keep up with @!# like this.well my sister and brother-n-law only have one child left in this world and he doesn't have to sell drugs to get what he wants, they work and he was about to graduate from jr college this year and just thought the wrong people were his friends.now you who comment on me getting some money, for the recoed i would never accept drug money for nothing.drugs are killing our kids.i repeat,i know tee, hold your head up.tee don't sell drugs never had to and never will have to.

uhh... so lharris, you are saying that your nephew is innocent? I am not into gossip but I like to talk about what the Natchez Democrat prints in their story. If the story is incorrect, perhaps you should clarify how he was busted with all that cocaine. Or perhaps you are in denial and don't know "tee" as well as you think you do.

Also, do you really think "tee" is going to have internet access in order to read your "hold your head up" comments?

If your nephew has quality support and is innocent (wrong place at the wrong time), he will rise above this. Hopefully this will be the case. But someone (Mr. Rabbit perhaps) has to pay the crime of possessing 11.66 ounces of cocaine.

Posted by lharris (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

call it whatever you want mr obamayamama,i just realized what you think really don't matter.and yes tee is innocent.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 4:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well, if he is innocent, I hope he is able to get off the hook. Maybe young black men are targeted more in Natchez. But that probably has to do the percentage of black men that proform crime in Natchez.

I guess I could see how Tyrone could be innocent. He could have been riding with a friend (who by the way is 8 years his senior) not knowing of his background. It says they found the 11 ounces of cocaine at Peter Rabbit's house. So I will be nice and say lharris, I hope the story gets straight.

Posted by redusmfan (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 4:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I am sorry, but he had to know what was being thrown from the vehicle he was in. Tee, you had to know that cocaine was being thrown from the vehicle. It was not an accident. Flip on Peter rabbit if you have to...

Auntee L, where did you attend high school? What english teacher did you have? I wish I only worked 44 hours some weeks. I put in 39 so far this week. and will work more tonight and tomorrow.

But, you hit on the very thing I was trying to say above in other post, His parents will probably try to bail him out of this situation instead of letting it run its course in the courts and he will be back out again. He will not learn a lesson because he did not have to face the consequences.

My Mother still lives in Roselawn...We moved there back in the 70's....Yes that neighborhood has changed, but my Mother has some of the best neighbors!! I have sat on my Mother's front porch and watched drug deal after drug deal. I could not believe my eyes. One evening, I watched about 15 different drug deals. I have called the Police Dept., Sheriff's Dept. and Metro Narc's....guess what??? Not a thing has been done. I still see drug deals when I go and visit with my Mother. And that is quite often. Its sad! There are still children in the neighborhood and its just a crying shame that this kind of things are going on. It really makes my blood boil when I call Metro Narc's and all they tell me is, and I quote...."we are watching that house"....evidently NOT!! The house is located on Roselawn Drive and anyone can sit and watch drug deal's daily. It needs to be stopped. There are still good people that lives in the Roselawn Subdivision. The bad people needs to be weeded out, and could be if there were any help from the City Officials. How many times do you have to report drug deals before anything is done?? Hate to say it, but I have quit calling because I get the same ole attitude on the other end of the phone, "Oh no, its that same girl calling". So, why bother??

Posted by neverunderstood (anonymous) on May 8, 2008 at 8:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Now it doesn't really matter who was guilty and who was innocent. That was a very stupid move. I agree that dope dealers hang with dope dealers. The narcotic task force knows just about every dope dealer in Natchez and guess what they are going to get them. So to all that have these young "BOYS" that want to be men push them into a positive direction. I applaude Cox and all that pull this off, because if it wasn't for them it would be worser than it is now. Most people are on the defensive side when it close to home but thats life we have something in life to deal with. All I can say is make sure its not happening in your household. Most parents know what their child is doing he or she don't have a job and their not getting money from them. A rocket-scientists can figure that out. They making that easy money. I hope that our MEN fine it in their hearts to give the dope game up and get a job. For Mr Rabbit you just can give it up now you will see the easy thing to do is now the hardest for you and that's to GET A JOB!! I wish our MEN wise up!!

I don't usually do this but couldn't resist because I had to clear something up for redusmfan. FOR THE RECORD. Auntee L, as you so disrespectfully called her, is my mother. She said she works 44 hours PER week not some. She is a registered nurse who works 12 hour days in Labor and Delivery at a hospital in Atlanta. Hopefully you've traveled somewhere besides NTZ to get an idea of what that means. In short, she is well educated and probably gets more taxes taken out of her check then you even gross in a month. It's amazing to me how people have the time and energy to speak so negatively and personal about people they don't even know. And if you have a life (considering the extra hours you were to be working this week) how about trying to focus on that? I do not wish to take part in the childish back and forth as if I have something personal against you. I just find it insane that you would attack someone and their character for supporting their nephew. Do you know Tee? Well she does. And for the record Larry was a friend of his older brother (hence the 8 year age difference) but that's neither here nor there. No wonder Natchez has changed so much and now resembles a ghost town. Everyone is on this site, while they get kicks from voicing their opinions behind the comforts of their computers.....lol Is this topic REALLY that important to YOU? Have we nothing in our own personal lives to get THIS worked up about? Simply sad.

Hey, I was nice to lharris:

Well, if he is innocent, I hope he is able to get off the hook. Maybe young black men are targeted more in Natchez. But that probably has to do the percentage of black men that proform crime in Natchez.

I guess I could see how Tyrone could be innocent. He could have been riding with a friend (who by the way is 8 years his senior) not knowing of his background. It says they found the 11 ounces of cocaine at Peter Rabbit's house. So I will be nice and say lharris, I hope the story gets straight.

She and everyone else who loves these guys are just angry and frustrated. So they turn to here and give us lashings for voicing our opinions.

And Kayce, if we dont have anything better to do with our time, you must not either HYPOCRIT because you are on here leaving comments just like everyone else.

These guys deserve to be attacked. Tyrone rammed a car, and that stupid act is coming out of the taxes we pay (for damaging the car).

If these two would have performed a saintly act, we would be on here congradulating them. Would you be so upset then? No, they got caught with drugs, now they have to pay (actually we are the ones paying for their breakfast, lunch, dinner, clothes, shelter, AC, etc). Think we are happy about that?

Don't do something stupid and you wont get caught!

This is a sad occurrance, negative any way you look at it. But it is reality. And instead of us gripping and/or feeling sorry for the "victims" and their families, why not try to change it. Change how and what these kids see and are involved with in everyday life. Granted there isn't much to do in Natchez. But area surrounding this city is an outdoor paradise. Look the beauty of the Trace and St. Catherine's Creek, etc. There is so much rich history in the oldest town on the Mississippi River.
How does that bumper sticker go "Kids who fish and hunt don't steal and deal". Get outside, study the history, hydrology, biology, chemistry, geology, etc of nature instead of trying to look cool in a BMW with 100" rims.

true obamayamama, they could do all those things, plus they could study up on what all you can to do with kudzu...where in Natchez, they may find a goldmine.

Tee is my nephew also. Like his other aunt stated, lharris, Tee is not a drug dealer. I do believe that he was hanging around the wrong person at the wrong time and is being given a bad rap because of this person. We all know that everything you read in the newpaper is not 100% true. We have people passing judgement on this site when they do not know all of the facts. I know the system is not the best, but I hope that my nephew is not convicted by association. Tee I'm sending my love and prayers from Houston.

Kudzu is actually an herb shown to be effective in lowering alcohol consumption in humans. Now that is what NATCHEZ NEEDS!

People in Natchez can bottle and see it like this website does!

For the record T had a promising future attending college to become a electronic engineer he is well liked by his instructors and peers. He's now let down by the judicial system. He was used as an example for the narcotics to gain a little fame and glory. Speak the truth when you make comments about people. He's an above average student and was completing his education by, January 2009. The black kids are who they try to hold back in Natchez. Now he choose that night to go out and have fun regardless of the connection you perceive it to be with the other young man he knew him through his brother, whom is now deceased and was also failed by the law for testifying for the State of Ms in a murder trial where the guy was put away but know one tells that story. T did not ram an agent car he complied with the signals given and stopped and before he could get the car in the park position they snatched him from the vehicle 3 huge agents gets on top of him and the vehicle goes into the agent car. Now that's your aggravated assault on the cops behalf. The passenger threw drugs from his side of the car and fled. A warrant was issued and they went to his house and ceased drugs, gun, safe, and a BMW Wow good job agents!!! T has no such objects anywhere in his room I'm a caring mother and would have at least found a safe in his room if there was one. He's never out after 12:00 instead studying. So if his home was not warrant for an arrest, tell me who is the drug dealer? His parents have worked hard for 23 yrs are more to support him and send him to school. He has never wanted for anything. Money, clothes, food, etc. we made it possible. "SO WHO WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE". We all have made mistakes are bad decisions but we shouldn't have to suffer an entire life time. I'm just glad know one was hurt and not driven off a cliff to fall to there death, Thank You Lord. There is no Justice in this town T get a higher bond than a known drug dealer. What a crooked law. You have made mistakes yourselves as adults you just didn't get caught. So to you parents be careful you could be the next suffering family.
