Alcorn State eliminated from SWAC baseball tournament

BATON ROUGE — The Alcorn State Braves had their season come to an end with a 12-1 loss to Prairie View A&M Saturday night on the campus of Southern University.
The Braves took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Panthers would score the next 12 runs, including four runs in the fifth inning that broke the game open.
The Braves finish their season with a 29-16 record.
Alcorn had stayed alive in the tournament by defeating Alabama State 15-4 on Friday night.
The Braves struck early in the first inning of that game, with Josh Brumfield scoring an a RBI single by Jabari Graham. Alcorn State scored four more runs to take a 5-0 lead over the Hornets.
Third baseman Brandon Pearce was the Braves front runner with three runs, four hits and 4 RBIs. Darryl Jordan picked up the win for Alcorn State while Marquise Blake recorded the loss for Alabama State.
