Area approved for individual FEMA assistance
Published Friday, October 3, 2008
NATCHEZ — On Friday FEMA announced that Adams County residents would be eligible for individual disaster assistance as a result of Hurricane Gustav.
Hancock, Harrison, Washington and Wilkinson counties were also made eligible for individual disaster assistance.
Sen. Roger Wicker said he was pleased by the news.
“I am glad FEMA has finally approved this needed assistance for the people in Adams and Wilkinson counties,” he said. “This may be delayed news, but it is welcome news for those who still need help getting back on their feet following the severe flooding caused by the news.”
On Friday afternoon a FEMA representative said application and eligibility questions can be answered by calling 621-FEMA or by visiting www.fema.gov.

Probably gonna take a while to get any assistance from Fema I just checked the web site and they haven't updated there, wonder if they know we've been approved (lol). Looks like October may be a month of money for this area, wonder how we're gonna have to pay that back, sounds like a new tax to me.

Thanks I do see us on the map but if you click on the individual assistance tab it still says no individual assistance avaliable. Not a big deal to me I'm sure I wouldn't qualify for it any way. LOL

"...welcome news for those who still need help getting back on their feet following the severe flooding caused by the news.” Didn't know the news could cause flooding. We do live in dangerous times! And I didn't realize flooding was the main problem caused by the hurricane - thought it was the thousands of trees falling everywhere, especially on people's homes.

I wonder what this will pay for
I had refugees from New Orleans here for a week, reckon I'll get compensation for that?
I had to pick up limbs, will I get paid for that, and my grass was killed by the pile, which is still there, will FEMA pay to resod my yard? hhhmmm.. what else can I conjure up........
not that I will but you know some people will play this out for everything they can get, and that is what's wrong with our gov't, paying out too much for crybabies

Adams County, Catahoula Parish and just about every other county and parish around here - besides Concordia Parish!?!?! We must just be invincible since there was devastation all around us. Or are we just - being overlooked?
