TWENTY YEARS AGO — Among the area’s “Sports Superlatives” from Friday night are Block’s Shawn Fagan, who had 226 rushing yards against Ville Platte, and ACCS’s Paul Hayles, who had 14 tackles in a win over Bowling Green.

TEN YEARS AGO — Robert Bean blocks a punt and returns it 23 yards for a touchdown to spark a 24-point third quarters as the Mississippi State Bulldogs roll to a 38-21 win over Auburn to go to 3-0 in the SEC West.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Jasper O’Quinn has 29 carries for 195 yards and a touchdown and Tommy Gibbs accounts for three scores as Franklin County defeats Hazlehurst 29-16 to move into first place in Region 7-3A.
