City may be out of power for days
Published Tuesday, September 2, 2008
Adams County Civil Defense director Stan Owens said that the city would probably be out of power for three to four days at best but said it's highly probable it could be longer.
Water, ice or other materials from the government will not be handed out today.
Owens said what's important right now is that the roads are made clear and made safe.

WHY ISN'T THERE ANY WATER AND ICE BEING HANDED OUT? I THINK THIS IS AS GOOD OF A TIME IF ANY IF YOU ARE GOING TO HELP THE CITIZENS OF NATCHEZ,I WAS VERY UPSET WHEN I SAW THAT STATEMENT MADE.

Are they handing out water and ice to those who evacuated to Natchez?

Tomorrow you will need ice more. You'll need it even more by the next day. Wait till then to get irritated. The sun's not even out yet.
Let's chill and see this through. Do whatever you have been putting off that doesn't require power. Invite your friends over and cook what you had in the freezer. EAT THE ICE CREAM FIRST!

It's amazing that from some reports that I hear, this storm has a far worst effect on Natchez than Katrina did. I remember we lost power in Jackson, MS during Katrina as well as Natchez but the power was restored in Natchez long before ours was then.

some of us need ice to keep our baby's milk cold.. so it doesn't sour! Like my child's milk did! explain to a (1- 2yr old) baby that they can't have milk... and see how far it gets you. Let's see you sit by and not complain when you have a SCREAMING baby to deal with. We just got power less than an hour ago... nowhere open to get anything and even if there was somewhere open we can't leave to get it... so I would've liked some ice BEFORE his milk soured! but... i'm sorry I'm being BARBARIC and impatient!

my point exactly momof4,some people can afford to have a good time when there power is off,but for those of us with children and elderly parents we don't have that luxury.

momof4, I dunno, but maybe you should have purchased the powdered kind of formula to mix with water and bottled water prior to the storm, or had some ice in a cooler for the milk, and in ElGoodo's case, for the cocktails.

first of all, he doesn't drink formula... he drinks regular MILK... second of all we didn't EXPECT it to be this bad here.. since it never has been this bad here before.. third... the ice we DID have.. MELTED because of the HEAT...
We made it, and our kids made it we are all fine. I was making a point to these people who think we are complaining without reason. I was HOPING that people would realize that there are people out there who actually NEED these things... NOW not tomorrow. There are those STILL out there... believe it or not that do not even have water yet. I know that is hard to believe because most upstanding citizens around here can't think past their own nose and as long as it is fine.. they could care less!!!
Let's talk about New Orleans more.. because GOD knows we haven't heard enough about New Orleans on the news... forget those people who don't have the BASIC necessities and let's talk about those who are fine now!!!!
you know.. if a family of 6 who can barely make ends meet can get out there and spend 100 dollars getting water and necessities to these people.. how about you upstanding citizens?? think ya'll can get off your butts that long?
Oh... and one more thing.. I heard on 95 country that a nursing home in Jonesville was in "DESPERATE NEED OF WATER, DEPENDS, AND WET WIPES" I called the station 2 minutes after it was aired and they said "NO, WE DO NOT KNOW OF ANYONE IN JONESVILLE THAT NEEDS ANYTHING" So I called the PD in Jonesville... THEY said... "our water is still out... we could definately use water and ice..."
Please help out in Jonesville and any other areas you can think of that might need you!!!!
