Radio station was friend in the storm

Published Thursday, September 4, 2008

On behalf of the Sunshine Children’s Center I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the folks at First Natchez Radio for the truly outstanding job they did during the stormy weather this week. It was very comforting to my children and myself to be able to turn on the radio and know exactly what was happening, even though we had no power.

The calm, professional manner in which the staff delivered information was reassuring in the face of some very frightening weather. I am sure that their presence brought comfort to many, many individuals across the Miss-Lou, as it did to my children. We are very lucky to have this kind of quality broadcasting in our community. Thanks again to all the staff.

You did a great job.

Matilda Ogden Stephens

executive director, Sunshine Children’s Center

Yes they did!
I slept in my car, the house was entirely too hot and that radio station was a God send. The great music, the constant updates, both were a great comfort.
So yes, THANK YOU so much 95 Country!

I agree! Our local station personnel went above and beyond the call of duty so that we would at least be able to hear what was going on. They helped keep everyone informed on local conditions as well as State wide. We are really blessed to have such a great group to help keep us calm during the rough times. God bless all of you!

I enjoyed listening on my battery operated radio to the "Country Boy" all night long on those powerless nights. It brought back memories of when 95 Country actually had an all night DJ, instead of the piped-in shows from California like they have now. Great job to ALL of you at FNR for "helping me make it through the night."

I'm thankful for the radio station. I never listen to this station in normal times. I liked Willie, Waylon, Merle, etc...but haven't liked it since. I never learned to sing through my nose.

One would expect her to thank the SHELTER's STAFF, who work for only $7 an hour, and deserve a pat on the back.
Instead, the director speaks of "my children" and thanks a radio station. She makes no mention of the staff, or how hard they work, for an un-noticing boss.
No wonder morale is so low.

Natchez and Adams County should be thankful to have the Natchez Radio Group. This subject business has been very beneficial to the business interests and in the promotion of Natchez and Adams County. And the very high point of their business is their promotion of safety and well-being of the population during bad weather conditions, especially during Hurricane Gustav and related events. I was in Natchez during the event-Thanks to WQNZ, the owners and staff! for Class Service by all means!
