Local reflects on when the towers fell
Published Thursday, September 11, 2008
NATCHEZ — Allyson Burns was sitting in her 10th grade geometry class at Cathedral High School when she heard the news — two planes had crashed into New York City’s World Trade Center and a third into the Pentagon.
At first, she could not believe her ears. It was surreal, she said. She was shocked and scared, although she did not really understand the gravity of the situation until she looked into the faces of teachers.
While Sept. 11, 2001 was seven years ago, to Burns and many of those who watched the towers fall, it seems like just yesterday.
“It’s one of those moments I’ll never forget,” she said.
It is similar to how other generations feel about Pearl Harbor and the John F. Kennedy assassination, she said.
The teachers did a great job of explaining the situation to the students, she said.
“Looking at the teacher’s faces is what really sunk in with me,” she said. “They were calm and not panicky.”
Now, seven years later, Burns is on the other side of things, and will be explaining the significance of September 11, 2001 to a group of fourth graders at McLaurin Elementary, where she is a first-year teacher.
“I am going to talk about it in general and show them a book with some images,” she said.
Because her students were so young when it happened, they may not understand the significance of the attacks, she said.
“They’ve grown up hearing about it and seen the images,” Burns said. “It didn’t really impact their little world unless they had someone to serve in the war.”
And Burns has had a several friends serve in the war.
“(Sept. 11) has given me a great sense of patriotism and lots of my friends have gone to serve their country because of 9/11,” she said.
Several of those friends have their names embroidered on a Marine flag in Mike Roboski’s Cathedral High School classroom, where he taught Burns.
Above his desk, in the back corner of the classroom, Roboski has the names of 12 students who have gone on to serve in the Marines embroidered on the flag.
While Burns saw calm on the face of her teachers, Roboski, who teaches religion to 10th and 11th graders, said he was as shocked as many of his students.
“The terrifying thought was, this is Pearl Harbor all over again,” Roboski said. “There’s a certain amount of dread as to what this is the start of. How quickly are we going to plunge into war?”
Roboski and his students watched the images over and over again throughout the day.
“Like everyone else, we were glued to the television for the next 48 hours,” he said.
Cathedral will open school with a prayer commemorating Sept. 11, and Roboski will also discuss the attacks in class.
“It’s not something that’s forgotten,” he said.

Thank you Allyson...these kids need to know the truth and the history...if left to themselves they will hear that somehow the US was to blame and brought it on ourselves or even more unbelievably that it was a conspiracy within our own government...the might even believe this stuff...give them the facts, not the hype and they will make up their own minds as you did.

Thanks sammonhon, couldn't have said it better. Our youngsters need to know the true facts.

God Bless America. As I started an entry in my journal this morning...I wrote, Sept. 11, 2008 and froze; realising it was 911. Then emmidately started wondering about our Country and pulled up the News Paper. Thank God no bad news.

I will be displaying my flags today in the memory of those who died on 9/11. Also in memory and in honor of those who gave and are giving so much to keep this country free. May We NEVER Forget.
God Bless America!

I remember I was pregnant with my boy when this tragedy happened. (I was asked why I was crying by the foreigners I was working for and I then realized they didn't love my country. They even laughed at me.) I still get teary-eyed when I watch film footage of the tragedy. And I still want revenge (forgive me Lord).

I worked a later shift on the job I was working at the time so I was home. I awoke around 8:00AM. I will never forget watching Good Morning America, Charles Gibson interrupted the regular news segment and began to tell of the plane that had already gone into the Pentagon and the ones heading for the WTC. I got on my knees then and prayed because all I could think about at that time was America is under attack.

This paragraph was written by my son Matthew Whittington and I lay claim that Matthew was and is still one the most Patriotic American's that was ever born into our great country even at a very young age and before he passed away on March 14, 2007. Matthew Whittington a student of both Huntington School in Ferriday, Louisiana and Cathedral High School in Natchez, Mississippi.
"September 11, 2001 was a horrible chapter in the history of America. Still more than a year later do we morn over the lives lost. We will never forget, we will never forgive, but we will see to it that those responsible do get a punishment sutible and justifiable for the deeds these evil people caused all of America. They will not soon forget what our Armed Forces do in retaliation to cause them as much pain as all America felt the morning of September 11, 2001. So now we are faced with nuclear warfare, biological attacks and I pray that our leaders make the right decisions to avoid war yet find the terrorists that threaten our freedoms."
Fly Free,
Matt Whittington
P.S. This paragraph was written, then an American Eagle was hand sketched at the end of the writing by a true American Patriot.

What is the truth Sam? That 19 fanatic Muslims immediately identified by the intelligence agencies, 11 of whom are still alive today (with no explanation forthcoming regarding that anomaly of dual existence), hijacked four airplanes and flew two of them into the Word Trade Center, and one into the Pentagon? With no provocation at all except they hate our "freedoms"?
Does the truth include that Buzzy Krongard, then one of three executive directors of the CIA had been immediately prior to that position a chairman of A.B. Brown, an investment bank that was used to place put options on United Airlines that resulted in a 2.5 million dollar profit from the attack? Does the truth include that if it were not for the Israeli Herzilyya Policy Institute for Counterterrorism paper "Black Tuesday: The World's Largest Insider Trading Scam" we would probably not even know about the insider trading that occured? That this has never been adequately investigated, is this part of your truth too Sam?
There is a hell of a lot of truth we don't know about 911 and are likely never to know.
Does your truth include the eyewitness report of Barry Jennings who was on the eigth floor of WTC 7 when explosions occured in that building before any airplanes ever hit the two towers? Here is his statement, containing footage from a television interview THAT morning: http://blip.tv/file/1064938/
Does your truth include any of the numerous eyewitness reports of numerous explosions occuring before the two stricken towers fell? I bet not, because your truth was manufactured and presented within minutes of the attack when ABC, CBS, and NBC told us the attack was the work of Osama Bin Laden and the buildings fell for the same reasons the 911 report later stated. Why even bother with investigations when the media can tell us right away what happened, apparently the attitude of the 911 commission.
I have no idea what really did happen or who was behind it, but I do know that this story just stinks to high heaven. The Project for a New American Century wrote a paper in 2000 called "Rebuilding America's Defenses" that called for American Domination of the Middle East and Eurasia and concluded that "Further, the process of transformation,
even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor."
It is funny this Democrat article equates 911 to Pearl Harbor and that PNAC recognized the need for such an event, and months after PNAC's members came into office with the Bush Administration the event happened. The original PNAC paper, above guote from page 51, read the whole paper if you want to know truth; ignore it if you think Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC tell you the truth: http://www.newamericancentury.org/Rebuil...

Before you all start attacking me, and I know it is coming, know this: I was as angry as anyone that those buildings were attacked and my first thought was that Arabs had done it. I was all for unleashing devastation on the responsible parties or anyone resembling them in the beginning. Now, after all this time and all the lies I have changed my mind. I think the whole episode deserves a closer look from every angle: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...
When have any of you ever heard of an Iraqi or Iranian spy network uncovered in the US? But there has been a huge Israeli spy network uncovered in the US, and it has been known for many years that of all our allies the Israelis operate the most aggressive espionage network in our country.
For those Christians of you who say, as I am sure some of you will, that we should protect Israel because the Jews are God's Chosen People, I say bull to that, for this reason:
Israel wants to rebuild that Temple and reinstitute the temple sacrifices. Those temple sacrifices are an unbelievably bloody, pagan affair comprised of a conglomeration of ancient magical beliefs. If God is any part of that I want no part of God. Why did God favor Able's sacrifice over Cain's? Because Abel offered fruit and grain and Cain offered blood; that is what led to Cain killing able and Cain being banished. Why would God give special honor to a people who perform actions about which God told Cain "the blood of your sacrifice cries out to me from the earth?" That makes no sense at all.
All the Zionist Christians should realize that you can't be Christian and a Jew. The whole point of the story of Christ is that Christ was the last sacrifice, no further bloodshed needed. We don't need to keep sending young men and women to die for Zionists who have drained our country of one trillion dollars since the end of WW II.

Probably at this point some of you will be thinking I am anti-Semitic. Well, two things- a large number of Jews are not Semites themselves. And I am not anti anything, except as has been said before, anti-b-s. Is Ra El is a combination of the names Isis and Ra, two Egyptian gods, and El, a Babylonian god. Like it or not, those gods also happen to be planets and stars. The Jews were held in captivity in Egypt and Babylon and those two cultures shaped the modern Jewish culture. There is nothing special about being a Jew, nothing so special that is deserves bankrupting our country to protect a people who out of choice spread themselves over the earth to engage in trade.
My belief is that if we had not been such champions of Israel 911 would never have happened. I also think Israel was involved in a way that is being suppressed from us all. I think, also, it is high time we quit showing reverence for ancient belief systems that worshipped the sun, the moon, and the planets and gave them names and personalities because the long history of earth has shown this to be a bloody dead end for solving any of our problems.

EnK...this is a long limb you're out on, even for you. I looked at your links and I think you are buying into a bunch of bunk. Granted the FBI wasn't vigilant enough and warnings went unheeded. Granted the CIA supported Bin Laden during the Afghan war against the U.S.S.R. Realize also there have been allegations that FDR knew Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked and did nothing. Of course FDR knew that cutting Japan's oil would drive them either out of China or into war, but no one has ever proved he foresaw the sneak attack.
Similarly, GWB knew Bin Laden was a dangerous terrorist (Clinton also knew and did nothing), but I don't think anyone (even those who war gamed it) actually thought it would happen. It's all hindsight, second guessing, Monday morning quarterbacking.
People are people. People get lackadaisical...then when the crisis hits all of a sudden it was a government conspiracy...the lieutenant on duty at Pearl Harbor was too relaxed when he told the radar operators that the Japanese flight they identified was only a B17 flight. The FBI was too relaxed when they got the info from their Arizona office that there was something up.
Regarding the Israelis...they aren't working in concert with Al Qaeda. They are mortal enemies. The Israelis are sometimes over the top, but who can blame them? I'd be over the top too if I was getting shot at or bombed on a daily basis. Why wouldn't they try to find out what's going on in the US? It is spying and if they get caught we should punish the spies, but the motivation is perfectly understandable.
The final link you gave was slickly done productionwise...but I found that the links between events cited in the piece weren't tied together very well, if at all. The supposed experts and politicians repeatedly quoted were either not identified or given a resume or clearly had an agenda...Representative McKenney...PLEASE!...and who was the guy in the Hawaiian shirt?...the little passport bureaucrat from Jeddah was clearly relishing his release from annonymity. Additionally, most of what the conspiracists say about WTC7's collapse can be explained without a conspiracy outside of the Bin Laden circle with a simple understanding of physics and human nature.
I think the Egyptian/Babylonian thing is off the wall, but I do agree that we bend over backwards far too much when it comes to Israel which has helped alienate us from the Arabs, but at the same time Wahabism and Islamo-Facisism is by far the greatest threat we currently face...so, the enemy of my enemy is my friend...just as Bin Laden was during his years with the Mujahadeen...just as Sadaam was during his war against Iran...when former friends become enemies you deal with them at that point.

EnK...9/11 WOULD have happened anyway regardless of our backing of Israel...Bin Laden was pissed off because we created and now maintain bases in Saudi Arabia thus defiling the Wahabi holy ground...granted our support of Israel contributed to his angst, but that was the primary rationale.
On a personal note...are you well away from Ike's wrath?

I tell you what Sam, any day you think you can melt a piece of four inch thick steel with kerosene you just let me know. I want to see it done. If you can just melt a piece of 1/4 inch steel with kerosene I will accept that.
If it were not for Israel we would not be in Saudi Arabia Sam, there would be no reason for us to be. I doubt Bin Laden cares if we are there anyway, he didn't care when he was working for the CIA so either his religion is flimsy or he is above that kind of backwoods snake handling the CIA now accuses him of. And too, remember, Brezinski takes credit for inciting Russian to invade Afganistan and then arming, training, and inciting fundamentalism among the mujahadeen in order to weaken Russian. This cost the lives of a million Afganis plus the crippling of thousands more men, women and children. Where do we gain the right as a nation to bring destruction on a people for our own geopolitical ends? You may feel there is something inherently right about that but I never will.
Do you seriously believe the Jews could have lived for years among the Egyptians and Babylonians with no intermingling of culture? So once again the Jews are unique among men?
Both British and Israeli agents have been caught in Iraq dressed as Iraqis driving around in vehicles containing IEDs. The British went so far as to raid an Iraqi jail after their soldiers were caught. Israel as usual got a free pass. What the hell were these guys doing driving around dressed as Iraqis with IEDs? I believe you are smart enough to figure that out. They were keeping the war going.
Any questions you have about Jason Bermas' video you should write and ask him. The guy in the shirt is Mike Rivera. You don't like Cynthia McKinney because she is a Democrat, so please yourself. As for the rest, those clips in that film are news reports mostly from the morning of 911. You can look them up for yourself and satisfy yourself as to the timelines on which they occured. Bermas has done tight research and is a thoughtful guy.
There is no such thing as Islamo Facism. The two are contradictory. Islamo Facism is a neo-con attempt at the pot calling the kettle black and what is really being referred to is authoritarianism and not facism.

911 has been used to advance a police state atmosphere in the US and the Patriot Act was clearly written prior to 911. Most of the congressmen who signed it didn't even read it. One of the outcomes of the Patriot Act is that all people who work in the transportation industry in the US now have to have a Transportation Workers Identity Card, an id card with a cell phone smart chip built into it. I just got mine- if you don't get one you can't work. What is more Sam, this damn card was issued by Lockheed Martin and that is who I had to pay to get it. What's more, you can be denied the card by Lockheed Martin on their assessment of your security worthiness even if like me you have held a license for decades. You think this is a good sign? Get your head out of the sand.
Can only Americans get a TWIC card? Nope, anyone can as long as Lockheed Martin says it is okay. What business is Lockheed Martin in? Does Lockheed Martin have an interest in world peace? That would be pretty bad for their bottom line wouldn't it?
Your faith in the neo-con agenda is beneath you. Did you read "Rebuilding America's Defenses"? If you did, then go to the CIA's website and read "The CIA in the New World Order". I know you don't believe there is any attempt to create a new world order, but the CIA believes it is already here (since they have been working to create it since the end of WW II). When you read this you will immediately notice that the tone of this piece is the same as the tone of "Rebuilding America's Defenses", no surprise there since the PNAC and the CIA both come from the northeastern establishment. The CIA says essentially that we can expect this unending war of terror because globalization in the name of the new world order is going to create extreme poverty for some people and these people may revolt.
Keep looking around on the CIA site and sooner or later you will come across a paper on asymmetrical warfare that says even non-violent resistance is an act of aggression. Do you get this Sam? Non-violence is aggression. Why? Because it attempts to foster a point of view contradictory to whatever view the CIA holds. If the CIA doesn't believe something you don't have the right to believe it either.
And that's some sick stuff.

From the above mentioned speech, given in February of 2000:
"Volatility will be a major downside of global economic integration. All states will become more vulnerable to shocks and disruptions. These shocks could take several forms, including a major disruption in global energy markets stemming from political instability in the Persian Gulf; a major US stock market correction, which would have a significant impact on the world economy; or another major financial crisis in the developing world."
Think about this paragraph for a minute. While the CIA couldn't detect terrorists training at US Naval Bases, had no idea they might fly airplanes into buildings, and was completely wrong about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and couldn't alet the Air Force to the fact that the Air Force was airlifting about 6000 Al-Quaeda and Taliban forces from Afganistan into Pakistan, the CIA could accurately predict in the year 2000 that between 2000 and 2015 there would be political instability in the middle east leading to volatility in energy markets and was able to predict a major correction in the US stock market while the Federal Reserve could not see what was coming. Who writes this stuff?
Was it not on faulty CIA information that poltical instability in the oil producing regions of the middle east was introduced?
John Kennedy had the right idea. The CIA along with the Federal Reserve need to go. The CIA serves the military industrial complex and the Federal Reserve supplies the funding. The World Bank shapes distribution of wealth around the world through credit policy tied into political objectives linked to loans. The CIA works to combat the unrest caused by these policies. Do you get any of this Sam? How does this differ from defending freedom?
Well, from the same speech:
"Divisions between "haves" and "have-nots" will have political implications in some cases, such as the recent populist-inspired regime changes in two democratic countries to our south--Venezuela and Ecuador. This dichotomy between rich and poor is less likely to provoke mass unrest in more authoritarian systems in African and the Middle East, where populist dissidence is more likely to be crushed."
In the eyes of the CIA authoritarianism is desirable antidote to the destabilizing effects of democracy. Popular unrest with political authority must be crushed. Is the Patriot Act a means to this end? Who could have figured that out? I mean it's not like the US has ever propped up dictators around the world only to depose them later.
Yeah, I know, I'm a conspiracist. But it's hard not to be when this kind of imperialist dogma appears on US government websites.

For the last part, I can't let you go on in your belief that the "Egyptian/Babylonian thing is off the wall". Prepare yourself for cognitive disonance, that state which occurs when some new information is so opposed to our world view that we cannot mentally digest it. God did not write the old testament. All those stories came from Sumeria, even the story about Adam and Eve. Jehovah was not the chief god of Sumeria, only one of the later ones who fought a big battle with Baal, a descendant of Anu who was the chief god of Sumeria in the beginning. Anu was the product of a virgin birth; Mammu, the primal mother pleasured herself and from this was born Anu, Anu and Mammu then had Enlil and the Sumerian pantheon began, at least in one of their two major versions.
Baal lost the battle with Jehovah and Jehovah became the big man after that. Anu was the planet Saturn, Baal was the son of El. All these gods were the planet Saturn, the name was just changed as time passed. In the Sumerian stories about the battle between Anu and Jehovah Anu lost the war after Jehovah fire bombed the cities of Sodom and Gomorah. An evil wind blew across the lands of Anu after the bombing and killed so many people Anu (Baal) gave up. Abraham and Sarah appear in the Sumerian stories as well, Abraham was guarding the frontier for Jehovah and that is why Sarah was rewarded with a child- Abraham did a good job for Jehovah.
The idea of one god was an Egyptian invention of the cult of Amen, later known as Amen-Ra, who was identified with Rams- Jews blow ram's horns, do they not? And all this occured during the astrological age of Aries, the Ram. Which came before the age of Pisces, the Fish of the Christians. We still say Amen when we finish a prayer do we not?
If you go to St Peter's basilica and kiss the foot of what most people believe to be St Peter, you are really kissing the foot of a statue of Jupiter. So much for religion. Christianity is as much of a conglomeration as Judaeism is.
If you persist in believing in the sanctity of Israel and Jehovah, feel free. The same goes if you wish to believe Christ is the one and only risen savior, when in fact he was one of at least two dozen middle easten gods known by the appellations "the truth, the light, and the way". In Sumerian cosmology "the way" meant a planet's orbit, or "destiny". As in Milky Way, still in common usage.

The reason I don't think God wrote the old testament is because if he did it wasn't his first draft as is clearly seen in the earlier stories from Sumeria. If the old testament was not the first draft it is likely not the last draft. Add to that the fact that God didn't learn to write until man invented writing. The whole story sounds just a bit fishy to me, at least as it pervades our culture. There may be some kind of hidden truth to the existence of God, but I cannot believe that an omnipotent, omnipresent, all-knowing being could be expressed in the ideas so often promoted by the churches who seem to me to be worshipping a god created in man's image and not the other way around.
Specifically regarding Judeaism, how convenient is it to be the owners of a set of spiritual instructions channeled through your priests that proclaim your people to be the chosen ones of the channeled god?
I don't want to be seen as just critical of the Jews though. Look at Catholicism. The popes are the rightful heirs of Christ? How so? I need to see some proof on that one, outside of a set of spiritual instructions channeled by early Romans and signed off on by the early fathers of the church.
Well, I can't really leave the Protestants out can I? They don't accept either of the first two sets of channeled instructions and don't have channeled instructions of their own. No, they just properly interpret the misinterpreted channeled instructions of the first two groups!
Here we have three clear cases of spiritual bias in service to the supposedly same God. This may be the anwer to another lifelong religious question I've had: if God could communicate so profusely with man two to five thousand years ago, how come he doesn't do it now when it would be such a big help? After all, there are a lot more people paying a lot more tithes doing a lot more worship, God should be happier and more helpful than ever!
The priests and preachers always have a ready answer for that line of questioning though. God ignores us because we are sinners. But didn't our sin disappear when Jesus died for us? Can't God make up his mind? Does he want us to slaughter our first born sons, calves and lambs or not? Does he want ten percent or not? If he isn't going to help us out, why should we give him anything? Oh, yes, it's that free will thing. He wants us to choose to love him, expecting nothing in return.
And by the way, just ignore that big zodiac on the floor of the Vatican and all that pagan symbolism. That's not the same zodiac the bible advises us against consulting- that is another set of stars.
