NATCHEZ — A local man was hospitalized Saturday after an argument escalated to gunshots.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., LeVander Williams, 28, and Tyrone McGriff, approximately 19, got into an argument about a vehicle in the 200 block of Dumas Drive, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

During the course of that argument, McGriff allegedly shot Williams twice, once in the chest and once in the arm, Mullins said.

Williams was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center, and was later transferred to University Medical Center, in Jackson.

He was listed as being in stable condition Saturday evening.

The police had not been able to locate McGriff as of Saturday afternoon, but once they did he would be charged with aggravated assault, Mullins said.
