Two more arrests made in drive-by shooting

Published Saturday, September 20, 2008

NATCHEZ — Two more arrests have been made in the drive-by shooting that began at McDonald’s Tuesday night.

L’Zeddrick Vonzelle Thomas, 19, Apartment 15-C, 33 Parkway Drive, and LeJaris Dewayne McGuire, 18, 601 Old Washington Road, were arrested Thursday by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas was charged with drive-by shooting. McGuire was also charged with drive-by shooting, as well as receiving charges for a grand jury indictment for aggravated assault.

The indictment is from an incident on Feb. 10 where he allegedly shot at another man, Maj. Jody Waldrop said.

Anthony Wilson is the victim of the drive-by shooting, where eight shots were fired at him.

Roderick Brad, 18, 601 Old Washington Road and Kiara Brown, 19, 89 Duck Pond Road were arrested and charged with drive-by shooting Wednesday.

“With the investigation going on, we got that it was supposed to be four people in the vehicle,” Adams County Sheriff Ronny Brown said.

Maybe this time the people making comments here will keep it civil! Yesterdays article about this shooting got totally out of hand and as a result, the comments were disabled!

Hopefully, this will be all of the people that were responsible for this drive-by shooting! They all need to spend some time in jail and see how much they value their freedom then!
I'll bet they will be more than happy to listen to Mama then!

Did I miss something? I thought the Chief of Police said Natchez didn't have a crime problem.

I was wondering what happened to the comments on that article. The last time I checked, it was becoming a racial slur contest.

This is not about race, I believe that ANYBODY THAT DOES A DRIVE-BY AT A PLACE THAT IS PROMOTED AS CHILD FRIENDLY should be hung from the highest oak tree in town. What if a child had been in there getting a happy meal or eating with his soccer team after a game or with his friends after a football game or practice? Then MORE INNOCENT PEOPLE could have been killed.

PLUS WHAT ABOUT THE PART-TIME HELP TRYING TO WORK THEIR WAY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL WORKING AT McDonalds?

I hope these thugs serve 50 years and are to old to remember why they were sent to prison when they get out!!!!!!

Riffian Natchez has always had a crime problem whether the chief wants to admit it or not.

How do rumors get started? First, we read the newspaper. Secondly, we add our comments. Third, we began to judge one another. Finally, we becomes belligerent. We as adults and parents should be typing positive things to encourage the younger generations. A article that appears in the paper, about someone doing wrong gets 100 comments. A article appears with someone doing wonderful, that article gets 20 comments. For example, The Child Named National Merit Semifinalist; 15 comments. Local Students Graduate From Mississippi State University; 0 comments. Now, everyone wants to know what is wrong with the community! We are teaching the children wrong everyday! Wake UP America! War is in Iraq, not USA!

Oh my!!! If you ever want anyone to read what you have to say, start by writing using correct English and pronunciation. It allows the reader to know that you are intelligent enough to hold a conversation. I understand some of your saying but for the most part it was very difficult. Instead of your mother teaching you to kick but first, she should have been teaching you that education is first and fundamental.

First, if we was so smart, we'd probably have studied our English in school and typed a much more appealing paragraph. But hey, my 16 year old sister types the same way, so I'll let it slide.

Secondly, I'm debating your credibility since you know all the "correct" details of a DRIVE-BY and are not claiming a badge.

It's called ebonics and was actually pushed as, well I hate to say it - but subject, in schools several years ago. Kind of like a language.

As you can see from the above post the issues with these people run very deep. I'm sure he/she can text with the best of them, but she/he like so many others can't run and intelligent conversation. This isn't a lack of opportunity or education, it's a lack of applying ones self. It's a lack of a proper up bringing. It's kids having kids, passing them off to other family members while they wander aimlessly through life having more kids they can't support. What you end up with is a few generations 12 to 15 years apart. When this happens all morals and ethics go right out the window. Most of these young people have nothing to offer society. The only life experiences they have are bad ones. They are taught to rely on the government for support. Once they enter the system they have too much time on there hands and resort to drugs and crime. They don't respect anyone or anything. It's a vicious cycle, it's very sad but it is self inflicted.

We have to take our towns and neighborhoods back, stop helping these thugs and call the police. If we don't get these morons off the street it'll only get worse.

Back in the 90's Oakland California was going to teach Ebonics in their schools. After several million protest email across America, the idea was dropped like a hot potato. The main thing that caught my attention was that they were going to teach it to ALL the students. I want the people that fill out a job application to know english and I do not need any ebonics, I deal with that all the time in the Jackson Area, so I do not need it being taught when the kids already have PHD's in the subject.

Sometines the truth hurts & apparently mine struck a bad note. I said it would be deleted & to think I only said the truth.

That is really not ebonics, it is more like text messaging shorthand. Amaysing-while you were busy correcting this bloggers comments, you spelled butt wrong.

i'm just glad these thugs got caught

Posted by Amaysing (anonymous) on September 21, 2008 at 7:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Gimmeabreak- If I was speaking of two rams butting heads… I could have used butt. Or if I was referencing the gluteus maximus I could have used butt. However, I used but as a prepositional phrase so it’s spelled correctly.

I understand Ebonics to a degree. I have a teenage daughter and I listen to her throw words around. I review her text messages and I see the dialogue in which she text. It is not encouraged but, it’s okay within our circle. Outside of that circle, correct English is a must, especially when you are trying to appeal to the needs and understanding of others. The gentleman was trying to get his point across and I had to read the blog twice.

No harm intended.

Dallas Cowboys are up next!!! Have a great night.

I realize this is a blog and proper grammar is not expected, but I don't know why actually knowing the English language is too much to ask? Yes i know that short hand and slang is also acceptable but I have been on here with people that have no concept of our language. ( for instance, the two, for lack of a better word, ladies that were defending that thug that tried to evade the Vidalia police a couple weeks ago.)

I don't recall defending that perp pbnj, but I do recall thinking that the police should have blocked this side of the bridge when he turned around and headed back across from Vidalia. Is that the one?

brb i,m gona git me a knock you naked margirita and listen 2 the grammar thingee again. Korrect grammar doesn,t really show your intelligence level. Your body doesn,t show the real you. We,re all the same inside. Knew a man who built a nice barn oncet. He couldn,t read a ruler, but the barn was neat, tidy well built and all the boards were wellplaced and it was level. Knew a 98 pound gal oncet that was pretty as a picture, but she was bout bad as they come.
We are what we are.Our comments should be heard and our spelling shouldn,t be the issue nor our grammar. Cides i hated my english teacher. She was mean. Will Rogers had more good common horse sense and to me was a very intelligent man,but his grammar and his words left much to be desired, but they told the truth and as correct as any could be. The things he said came from his mind not his grammar or spelling. Like Abe Lincolen once said Most folks are about as happy as they want to be. simple but true, nothing fancy just good sense. Let the grammar and dots go..post your comments...because in China you can,t do that or in a lot of countrys. Some folks have just enough sense to know their stupid. I don,t care how they spell or how fancy they talk. Truth of the matter is one of our greatest american soldiers and heroes was that way. Seargent Alvin York. the most decorated soldier in World War 1.

I've heard about those knock ya naked margaritas, but I don't know if they really do, because I've never had one. Be careful if you're driving presby. I tasted a margarita once...didn't like it much. To drink alcohol I would need lots of fruit flavor to mask the alcohol taste. Ordinarily, I don't drink alcoholic beverages, but I have a time or two, so I know that once you get past the first one, the next ones are easier to take (taste), lol.

Trying to read ebonics gives me a headache.Have you ever read what Bill Cosby has to say about ebonics? It's very enlightening.

Just for those who haven't heard the speech, here is part of it about our grammer and language and why it is important to learn to speak and spell properly:

Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.

And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.

This speech is longer and it is true. It can be found on www.truthorfiction.com

I see everyone is for the victim! The victim is between 36-38! I wants to know why is he out here fighting with teenagers! I know why, he is scare to cross a real MAN! If anybody out there have a daughter or son! If a 36-38 year old hit your child how would you feel! I know if one put there hands on mines! I cannot start to explain! So, before you all start to criticizes you should know about the victim! He got stabbed in a club not even been 6 months ago! He might have the police fooled! But, as a grown up that's knows! He needs to be at home taking care of his family! His little cousin needs to stop holding on to dress tails!

Do not get me wrong! I teach my children to fight too! If, there is someone that you cannot reason with! I teach my children to take a lick! But, I do not teach them to let someone continue to beat them! That is abuse! It's more than the boys that was at Mcdonald! It were girls too! Slim as they call him, told his friends, how he beat their A..! Then he went on to tell how he started to beat the girls! He is less than a man! If you have to jump on girls as the youngest one been 13! But, he and his gang jumped on her brother and she was helpless!

I am about peace! We need it in this world! Just wanted to touch base with who do not know what's going on! Anthony is full of mess! As the child said early he's making 60,000 dollars. If that is true how can he be involved in his little cousin want to be gangbanging mess! People do not let the newspaper fool you! I have had a gun pulled on me twice! If you say that you was not scared, that's drama! Leave that to the the people that get get paid for it!
