Teen allegedly shoots brother

Published Monday, April 6, 2009

RIDGECREST — Two teen brothers found themselves in different worlds following a Monday shooting, one hospitalized and the other in custody.

According to a statement from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, the CPSO responded to a call of a shooting at 807 Ferriday Drive, Ridgecrest at 3:28 p.m.

The 19-year-old victim reportedly told authorities the shooter was his 16-year-old brother.

The elder brother sustained a single bullet wound above the left knee. He was shot with a .22-caliber pistol.

The victim was transported to Riverland Medical Center, and is reported to be in stable condition.

The teen suspect left the scene on foot, and CPSO deputies apprehended him less than a mile from where the shooting occurred.

The suspect — whose name was not released because of his age — is in the custody of the CPSO.

The incident is under investigation.
