Warrant issued for murder, one arrested
Published Friday, August 21, 2009
NATCHEZ — One arrest has been made and another one is pending in the brutal beating death of Clark Felton Jr.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested and charged Lizzie A. Madison, 39, 2 West Kirby Lane, with one count of murder Wednesday.
A warrant for the arrest of Madison’s boyfriend, Paul Macbeth Green, 38, has also been issued, ACSO Maj. Ricky Stevens said.
The two were known to walk the area around Felton’s residence, 87 LaGrange Road, and Stevens said investigators had gathered enough evidence to have probable cause to issue the warrants.
Madison had reportedly been in Vicksburg, but when deputies arrested her at her at the residence she and Green shared, she was packing her clothes to leave town, Stevens said.
Green’s mother was going to take him to the sheriff’s office, but he failed to show up at the designated place, Stevens said.
“When she went out to get him, he went out the back and into the bayou,” Stevens said.
A second time, investigators had gotten word of where Green was but he was gone by the time deputies got there, Stevens said.
Green is believed to still be within the Natchez city limits, Stevens said.
Felton was found murdered in his residence Aug. 12, the victim of sharp trauma to his head, neck and throat that ultimately caused him to bleed to death.
Evidence at the scene indicated the beating had happened some time during the night of Aug. 11.
The murder weapon — Felton’s own cane — was discovered along with his cell phone near a wooded area down the road from his residence.
Investigators believe the murder may have been part of a robbery, but Stevens said the suspects would not be charged with that until it can be better determined if that was the case.

Hey, I'm all for capital punishment! Beat the perps to death with a cane!!!!! Remember, God said to obey the law and if the law says to execute 'em...execute 'em.

God is everywhere at the same time....and I see where you are coming from. BUT, Let God deal with this one. God make no mistakes. Everything that happen, happens for a reason. Yes, I know this was a horrible thing and it's very hard on the family! But we need to pray for them so that they will have the strength to make it through it.

I agree that the Felton family should be given the opportunity to participate in the justice being served if this person is guilty. Yes, GOD will take care of all things in the end, but while the murderer lives, the families and friends are still being victimized by this evil person. It shouldn't be only capitol punishment only for the murder of a law enforcer or child molester. We as tax payers and human rights deserve better justice than that. Let God have the mercy if He sees fit!

Let's hope that justice is done and these criminals do not get to court and the system treat them as though they are victims- Mr. Felton was definitely the victim (left alone to die).

This guy has been NOTHING but trouble since I can remember him. It's a shame but when you're young and in elementary school, you KNOW who will be future MDOC residents. Shame. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Felton's family. This is senseless and justice WILL prevail!

Cowards. I shudder to think what pleasure can be derived from beating a defenseless being.

My condolences go out to the Felton family and I pray that God heals their broken hearts.
I am sickened by the fact that Mr Felton was fighting for his life against cancer only to have the life beaten out of him with his own cane. Nonetheless, these people are SUSPECTS. So, let's hold off on the hang em high comments until they are proven GUILTY. Where is the evidence???? That is my concern. Packing a suitcase and being known to walk in a certain area will not get these people CONVICTED. I hope that we are not relying on the cane that was found in the brush. Yeah, the one that the detective contaminated by holding with his bare hands. The only thing we can say for sure about the cane is that it definitely has 2 sets of fingerprints: (1) Mr Feltons and (2) the detectives... Where are the eyewitnesses? Anything tying these people to the scene of the crime? Do you see where I am going with this..... I am sorry. I just don't have a lot of faith in law enforcement, especially after seeing the detective hold a vital piece of evidence with his bare hands. I know the defense will love that photo. It scares me that IF these people ARE guilty, then they may get off. Just sick and tired of crime and criminals not being held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. So, the pressure is on law enforcement to provide the prosecutor with evidence that a jury can convict with, so the family and community can gain closure and start the healing process.
Don't mean to sound pessimistic, but just looking at things realistically.
Teach4Peace: If you knew this guy since elementary and obviously knew he was nothing but trouble and a future resident of MDOC, then what did you do to help? It's obvious that you recognized early on the warning signs? What proactive measures did you take? Did you ever: recommend him behavior modification? recommend counseling? recommend mentoring? Please let all the current teachers know what intervention methods that you took so when they encounter present day "paul green's" they can know what measures to take to identify a problem child, implement a behavior modification plan, and decrease the chances of a catastrophic event such as this from happening. It take a village!!! That's all I'm saying, so quit taking pride in saying " It's a shame but when you're young and in elementary school, you KNOW who will be future MDOC residents." Be a part of the solution because that is what we need now... SOLUTIONS... Crime in NTZ has gotten out of control and any one of us can be next. Crime is not polarized in certain areas (i.e. Black neighborhoods vs white neiighborhoods) but Mr BOBO thinks so. Criminals are opportunists!!! They commit crimes when the opportunity for success (not getting caught) presents itself. One day soon the opportunity may present itself in your neighboorhood or your home. We need to HELP each other!!

I'm NOT his mother, nor family member and if I was, whose to say he would have listened. I am sure his family tried but he didn't listen to them. Who says I was old enough to be his teacher? Actually, I'm not. I spoke from observation of him and his many antics observed, only.

The whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing is for courtrooms. A good policy for administering justice. This isn't courtroom and I am in no position to administer justice so I say lock 'em up.
belle_south, watching that much CSI, you should know these people have already squealed on each other. You don't think they pulled these people's names out of a hat do you?

Read the article close. There has been only one arrest, not two.

Well atleast they have made one arrest and it just a matter of time before they capture the other,GOD word says what you measure out to another man will be measure back to you, only Mr. Felton didn't have a chance aganist what these enhuman did to him. I pray he is resting in peace, and his family find comforted in knowing justice be serve to these peoples who took his life. GOD say vengeance is mine. GOD BLESS his wife and daugther.

Teach4Peace: In your MANY observations of Paul Green and his MANY antics, have your EVER known him to be violent???? I have lived in NTZ a long time and know a lot of people. I must admit that Paul Green's name has never been associated with violence. Since you have observed him on many occasions, just want to know if you have ever observed him being violent......
Crakalakin: I have never watched CSI..just using good ole COMMON SENSE which seems to be lacking in NTZ law enforcement. There is a lot more that I can say about the photo in the paper of the secondary crime scene, but I won't...not just yet anyway. How can THEY talk when only one person was arrested? You do know that Miss Madison has a RIGHT to remain silent and an attorney who would probably advise her not to talk. So no, the names were not pulled out of a hat.... and thats a good question Where did the names come from? An eyewitness???
My POINT is lets not rush to judgement. Lets see what the evidence says. Because right now the evidence says that these people were known to walk the street. Walking the street and appearing unsavory is a LONG way from murder. Let's watch the evidence because we don't want to incarcerate and INNONCENT person/the WRONG person. The person who COMMITTED the CRIME should be PROSECUTED and right now I just son't see any evidence pointing to Madison, Green or ANYBODY just yet. Just He say and SHe say, what does the evidence say?

You fail to understand when someone is arrested they get scared and squeal on everyone to protect the own hide.
Reading between the lines you sure are defensive of these two partners in crime.
As long as it took to find these two I feel there is ample evidence not just circumstancial evidence.
Time will tell but for now we need to let the police handle things because THEY know WE don't.

If a person is wanted wouldn't it be nice if they posted a picture of Paul so that we could know what he looks like.

Overthehill: If you are implying that I am related to these people, NOT. I am just a person who believes in the american tenet of "innocent until proven guilty" . When I start seeing words like hanging and lynching, i get concerned that these people are being convicted in the media. I simply just don't see any evidence. Anyone who beats a sick man to death should be jailed indefinitely. I jsut dont see any evidence yet.... nothing more than she packed a suitcase and he was known to walk the streets. That's it... So if this person is such an unsavory character, then why isn't his photo front page wanted?????? Somethings are just NOT adding up....
