Missing Monterey man found

Published Sunday, December 6, 2009

MONTEREY — The Monterey man missing for nearly a month was found dead Saturday.

Robert L. Wells, 61, has been missing since Nov. 6, and according to a news release from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office his body was discovered in his vehicle Saturday afternoon.

A motorist on Louisiana 129 south of Stacy reportedly spotted Wells’ black Chevrolet Blazer at approximately 1:30 p.m.

According to the statement, CPSO Investigator Phillip Webber said the initial appearance of the situation was that Wells had apparently suffered a medical problem and run his vehicle off the roadway and across a field into the tree-line of a wooded area.

The snow lingering from Friday night’s weather apparently made the vehicle more visible from the roadway.

Foul play is not currently suspected in the incident, and the statement said an autopsy has been ordered.

I'm glad the family at least now has an answer and can start resting in peace knowing what happened. God bless you all.
