Natchez — The Natchez Garden Club recently announced the 2009 court for the spring pageant.
Page Myra Blair Smith-Shull
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Price C. Chadwick of Brandon and Mr. Michael Falkner Shull of Natchez. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Clark Smith Jr., Mrs. Cheryl Foggo Morace of Natchez and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Shull of Jacksonville, Fla.
Blair attended Trinity Episcopal School during her Pre-K-3 and Pre-K-4 school years. She now attends kindergarten at St. Andrews Episcopal School in Jackson.
Blair participated in Kathleen Mackey King’s Music Program for two years and danced with Natchez Ballet Academy under the direction of Mignon Reed.
She is presently enrolled in ballet class with Mrs. Lisa Howell, certified by the Royal Academy of Dance, and swimming class at Malevs Swim School. Blair enjoys art, music, dance, watching movies and playing with her baby brother, Kale.
Her previous pageant participation has been Little Maypole, Picnic and sitting in the Queen’s Box during her Aunt Caroline Shull-Devereaux’s reign during the 2005 Historic Pageant.
Her dream was to be a page and walk behind the queen and king.
Page Kenneth Ryan Skates
He is the son of Jeremy and Michelle Skates of Natchez. He is the grandson of John and Eileen Ball, Ken and Ann Janette and Mike and Sherry Skates all of Natchez.
Ryan attends kindergarten at Cathedral Elementary School. Ryan plays T-Ball and attends St. Mary Basilica.
Ryan enjoys hunting, fishing, dirt bike riding, playing with friends and with his little sister, riding bikes, going to school and reading.
His previous pageant participation has been Little Maypole for two years.
Maid Jessica Lynn Marchbanks
She is the daughter of Paul and Sara Marchbanks of Natchez. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Bobby Ray of Kosciusko and Bettye Marchbanks of Natchez and the late John Marchbanks.
Jessica graduated from Trinity Episcopal Day School in 2006. She is attending Mississippi State University majoring in communications and public relations.
Jessica is a member of Delta Gamma sorority, Lambda Pi Eta Honors Society, MSU pahellenic treasurer, SA committe member for public relations, a member of Public Relations Student Society of America, National Collegiate Scholars of America and National Honor Society.
Jessica enjoys running, intramural flag football and basketball, tennis and spending time with family and friends.
Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Polka Favor Girl, Big Maypole, Polka and Bride in The Wedding.
Maid Corley Anne Sessions
She is the daughter of Tim and Donna Sessions of Natchez. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sessions III of Woodville, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Millsaps of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Don Corley of Greenwood.
Corley Anne graduated from Wilkinson County Christian Academy in 2006. She is attending Mississippi State University majoring in elementary education.
Corley Anne is involved in Future Educators of America and enjoys softball, traveling and children.
Maid Valan Maria Pike
She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Bundgard and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Pike.
She is the granddaughter of and Audry Ouren of Huntsville, Ala., and the late Glen Ouren and Wesley and Betty Pike of Fort Myers, Fla.
Valan Maria graduated from Newman Smith High School in Dallas, Texas, in 2006. She is attending the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg majoring in mathematics and Asian studies.
Valan Maria is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an exchange student to Japan and a Debutante for First Families of Mississippi in 2008.
Valan Maria enjoys writing, drawing, knitting, juggling, Japanese and music.
Her previous pageant particiaption includes Big Maypole and Picnic.
Maid Suzannah Ketchings
She is the daughter of Tim and Alicia Yielding of Jackson, La., and Walter and Minette Ketchings of Brandon. She is the granddaughter of Mariolyn Britt and the late R.S. Britt and Virginia Ann Hughes of Natchez and Walter Ketchings Sr. of Pass Christian.
Suzannah graduated from Trinity Episcopal Day School in 2006. She is attending Louisiana State University majoring in English with concentration in literature.
Suzannah enjoys reading, LSU football and spending time with family and friends.
Her previous pageant participation includes Polka.
Maid Jennifer Claire Guido
She is the daughter of Paul and Suzanne Guido. She is the granddaughter of the late Doris B. Guido and the late T.J. Guido and Elizabeth LeBlanc and the late Leon LeBlanc.
Jennie graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006 and attends Delta State University in Cleveland majoring in English education.
Jennie is on the dean’s list, president’s list, Student Government Association as a member of the president’s appointed cabinet, student court justice, Catholic Student Association, College Republications and Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is involved in academic development and new member education.
Jennie enjoys reading, knitting and spending time with family and friends.
Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Placard Bearer, Polka and Court in 2007.
Maid Kari Paige Guido
She is the daughter of Gary and Carolyn Guido. She is the granddaughter of Margaret Guido of Natchez and the late George Guido and the late J. Wesley Cooper and the late Margaret L. Cooper.
Kari graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006 and attends Alcorn State University majoring in Nursing.
Kari is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. She enjoys knitting, fishing, kayaking and spending time with family, friends and her West Highland terrier.
Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Page, Big Maypole, Can-Can and Soiree.
Maid Haley Elizabeth
Whittington
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Whittington. She is the granddaughter of Patsy Burns and Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Whittington.
Haley graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006. She was valedictorian and star student. She was a six-year letter winner in swimming and lettered in basketball, track and cross country and was bat girl for baseball. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and Peer Ministry Team. Haley presently is a junior at Ole Miss where she is the receiptant of the Jose de la Vargo Award and is an Eminent Scholar. She is an accounting major with a minor in banking and finance. She is an American Red Cross lifeguard, CPR instructor and Humane Society volunteer.
Haley enjoys swimming, reading, Ole Miss football, music and playing the piano and violin.
Her previous pageant participation includes playing the violin at “The Wedding of Jefferson Davis” for six years, The Picnic and Polka.
General Curtis Zackary
Calhoun
He is the son of Jesse and Susan Calhoun. He is the grandson of J.W. and Bobbie Calhoun and Virginia Beard and the late Curtis Beard.
Zack graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006 and attends Louisiana State University majoring in geology.
Zack lettered in football for four years and was an all region selection. He lettered in baseball for five years and was an all-district selection and recipient of the hustle award and lettered in track for one year.
Zack is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Sigma Mu Fraternity and LSU Geology Club.
Zack enjoys hunting, cycling and is an avid sports fan.
General Anthony Lee Best II
He is the son of Nancy E. Best and Anthony Lee Best. He is the grandson of Florence Bankston of Natchez, Albert McIntosh of Natchez, the late Robert M. Best and the late Rosalyn Waltmeyer.
Lee graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006 and attends Copiah- Lincoln Community College majoring in Wildlife Biology.
Lee was an Eagle Scout in 2005 and assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 158 with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoys hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping and weight lifting.
His previous pageant participation includes two years in the Picnic, four years in Soiree, and one year Polka and substitute as needed in other areas.
General Clinton Burbank Pomeroy Jr.
He is the son of Clint and Patricia Pomeroy. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Lesley of Mantachie and Lucy Pomeroy of Eufaula, Ala.
Clinton graduated from Trinity Episcopal School in 2006 and attends Itawamba Community College in Tupelo majoring in Automotive and Collision Technology.
Clinton is a member of Parkway Baptist Church, on the president’s list at ICC and is a Red Cross volunteer.
He enjoys cars, Nascar and sports.
His previous pageant participation includes Polka for two years, and he has worked backstage.
General Richard Jarrott
Walcott
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anthony Walcott. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anthony Walcott Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Webster Woodall Jr.
Richard graduated from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge in 2004 and attends LSU in Baton Rouge majoring in human resources.
Richard is interested in a military career after college graduation. He spent a month in the summer of 2007 traveling in Europe. Currently he works as a server at The Little Village Restaurant in Baton Rouge while attending school. He enjoys running, working out, golfing and LSU athletics.
General John Matthew Marchbanks
He is the son of David and Loyce Marchbanks. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Buck Denny and Bettye Marchbanks and the late John Marchbanks.
Matthew graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006. He attends Copiah-Lincoln Community College majoring in Radiology.
Matthew enjoys basketball, baseball, football and track. He also likes hunting, four-wheeler riding and sports.
His previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole and Picnic.
General William Alexander Middleton
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Middleton. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Alexander and Peggy W. Middleton of Natchez and the late John W. “Jake” Middleton.
Alex graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006. He currently attends Mississippi State University where he is majoring in civil engineering.
At Mississippi State he is a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity, Lambda Sigma Community Service Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, College Republicans and intramural sports.
Alex’s hobbies and interest include sports of all types, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
His past pageant participation includes page to King Stanley Cooper, Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Wheel Roller, Fisher Boy, Groomsman in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis, Soiree and Polka.
General Joseph Patrick
Vogt Jr.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Vogt. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Burns of Natchez and Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Vogt Jr. of Ferriday.
Patrick graduated from Cathedral High School in 2004. He currently attends Louisiana State University majoring in agricultural business. He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Patrick enjoys hunting, football, biking and kayaking.
His past pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Under-the-Hill townspeople, Big Maypole, Picnic, Virginia Reel, Wheel Roller (Under-the-Hill), Polka, Wedding of Jefferson Davis, Soiree, Soiree Sweetheart and Rebel Flag Runner.
