Natchez man caught with his pants down
Published Wednesday, January 28, 2009
NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested for allegedly stealing medical supplies while waiting for medical assistance Sunday.
Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said Kevin Eugene Burt, 41, 27 Timberlake Road, had sought medical attention for a broken foot at Natchez Regional Medical Center.
“While he was left alone in the treatment room, he helped himself to all the medical supplies in the room,” Godbold said.
Burt reportedly took syringes, gauze, eye drops, ear drops and other supplies. No narcotics or electronic equipment was taken, Godbold said.
“The nurse caught him,” he said. “When she went to pull his britches down to give him a shot, that’s when she saw all the (supplies) stuffed in his britches.”
Burt was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny.
He released by Judge Jim Blough per medical reasons.

Idiot. And why is THE NURSE pulling his "britches" down for him? He could've done that himself! I'd drop dead before I pull a man's pants down FOR HIM!! lol!

Maybe the broken foot will mend however hospital's can't fix stupid. "Medical reasons" has to be his foot because "Stupid" is not a medical reason!

shewoman, U would be surprised what a medical reason is now days....

My experience at Natchez Regional the cost for services provided would more than cover any supplies in the examing room (that you could fit in your britches).

Another thought - Natchez Regional due to its recent finacial woes probably has not paid for those supplies, and therefore is technically not the owner of the property, can they press charges for theft of goods they don't own?

I wonder if they sat them back out for use after being stuffed down his britches.

crawgator
I was wondering the same thing. More than likely they did.
The health department should go see that all ER medical supplies are thrown out and replaced.

If they got mad at him for stealing them why would voluntarialy get rid of them? Point being they aren't gonna lose money either way.

Love the headline, lol! Makes you think someone got caught "mooning" someone, or something else other than what the story's about. Hee hee! Pure stupidity!!!

What was he going to do with the syringes anyway?
Meluvcookies, I thought the headline meant someone was caught and charged for indecent exposure. You get what I mean?

lol@crawgator!!!
Did the boy ever get his shot? Did the nurse give it to him AFTER the discovery in his overflowing britches or did she directly run lip-flappin' to the boss?

I know the latest fashion is baggy britches hanging off the backside but in order to stuff medical supplies down his pants and not lose them on the way out, would he have to tight roll his pants legs like we did in the 80s? That would definitely be a tell tale sign that something was wrong. This is just too funny.

This happens a lot in hospitals and doctors offices. And it is not only the patients who do the stealing. And we wonder why our medical bills are so high?
I imagine the syringes would be sold to druggies to shoot up heroin.

I can't help myself either when in an ER room. They have all of those supplies right out in front of you. I know at Regional, they have all the materials to make your own cast! May as well do it yourself, healthcare in Natchez, MS isn't going to get you anywhere but in the grave!

Maybe he was just stealing them back figuring that the costs of medical care are so outrageous that he was doing justice a favor.

Boy, he was caught with his pants down. Good that there werent any narcotics in that room. He should be ashamed for his actions. Now he is known as a common thief.

Perhaps, he was just trying to get his money's worth, but he simply wasn't thinking on a large enough scale. He should have waited on his bill and then filed for bankruptcy. hmmm? But then again, how often does this type of thing happen, not only by patients, but by the employees, as well? And some of the employees do have access to the narcotics! Employee theft just very well could be one of the largest contributors to the downfall of our nations economy. That and bankruptcy! lol, just something to ponder upon.

Krogers what an indecent thing to say on a public forum. There may be kids reading here. That is something you should have sent harcorps in a personal message, but then he might have thought you were coming on to him and tried to avoid your comments afterwards, lol.

You forget half of the kids apparently can't read, nor can they keep their legs closed, leave drugs, guns, and other peoples belongings alone.

You all can talk bad about medical care in the miss-lou if you would like, but there are many excellent nurses and physicians in this community who give a lot of their time, care, and compassion. They spend more time at work than with their own families. Show a little consideration. As far as the cost of medical care, the man who was stealing probably wasn't going to pay the bill anyway. That is the reason it cost an arm and a leg to be seen at the hospital. Probably 70% of patients in adams county have medicaid or no insurance at all, and you wonder why hospitals can't stay above the water. People around this area think everyone owes them something and that they don't have to work to support themselves and their family. If you owned a business, would you give away free services? I didn't think so. If people were stealing from you, I wonder how much your cost of supplies would increase? How many of you have insurance? If you have no insurance, how many of you pay your medical bills in full? That is the whole reason for our crisis in healthcare. It helps to look at the whole picture before passing judgement.

Let's just hope that they threw everything that man touched away. I work in an ER environment myself and it just blows your mind to think that someone would keep that nasty stuff!

SKY123 I AGREE WITH YOU.THERE ARE A LOT OF REGULAR COMMEN"TATERS" ON HERE THAT TAKE WHAT A FEW DO AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE EVERYONE DOES THE SAME THING. GREAT NURSES AND DOCTORS HERE IN NATCHEZ---DON`T MAKE THE FEW BAD ONES RUIN IT FOR THE MANY GOOD ONES. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE BILLS TOO. TOO MANY DON`T PAY AT ALL AND IF YOU CHECKED INTO IT YOU PROBABLY WOULD FIND OUT THAT THEY COULD. THESE DAYS SO MANY THINKS THEY SHOULD GET EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING.
