County issues burn ban
Published Wednesday, July 1, 2009
The Adams County Board of Supervisors issued a burn ban effective immediately until July 7. The ban was approved by the Mississippi Forestry Commission without exceptions. Any person who knowingly and willfully violates a burning ban is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined not less than $100 and not more than $500, according to the Mississippi Forestry Commission Web site.

"fined not less than $100 and not more than $50"
What number is greater than 100 but not higher than 50? It appears to be a missing 0 somewhere.

Well, what does this mean for the people in north Natchez that willfully shoot fire crackers, etc. under cars, in piles of leaves and trash, and in my front yard, all for the sake of celebrating the fourth of july. They fire pistols and rifles too! I'm not a sour puss, it's too dangerous and far too dry to use firecrackers and bottle rockets in closely populated areas and its' against the law within the city limits. No one enforces the law however.

Setting off fireworks is not "knowingly and willfully" creating a fire. However, accidents do happen. Just be safe! Maybe one would rather attend a "fireworks display".

Anyone with half a brain would know, without being told, you DO NOT burn when the county is this dry. As for fireworks, save them till the rainy season. All they do anyway is distrube neighbors and scare animals.

Brod the law will enforce the fireworks ban . You just have to be willing to press charges if they ask do you want to be contacted by an officer . Just calling the police and requesting to send an officer to stop the kids won't always work . They'll just go and come back later . File charges and the problem will immediately stop and the message is long term . I know because I had it done last year . Your neighbors kids/parents will get over the shock of having to pay a fine . Many people don't realize it's illegal . Same thing goes for the kids with the loud booming music in their cars . Heck the city needs money and you need your peace . Stop being nice and just drop the bomb . If you are being disturbed to the level you report I would definitely call before real property damage occurs .
