Accident causes fatality
Published Thursday, June 18, 2009
NATCHEZ — A one-vehicle accident near the corner of Palestine and Liberty roads Wednesday took the life of a Natchez man.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ricky Stevens said he believes Brandon Blackmon, 31, overcompensated while negotiating a bend in Palestine Road and drove off the road.
Stevens said Brandon’s truck hit an embankment and flipped on to the roof.
A curious motorist on his way to work noticed the tire tracks leaving the road and subsequently found the wreckage, Stevens said.
“It’s not visible from the road,” Stevens said. “You’d have to be looking for it.”
Stevens said the call reporting the accident came in at approximately 8 a.m., however, he’s not certain exactly when the accident occurred.
Adams County Coroner James Lee listed the cause of death as crushing injures to the head, chest and neck.
Lee said he expects the results of a toxicology screen back in approximately three weeks.

It matters not if he was haulin "a" or not...we are talking about a young man whose life is over....a family who is grieving and many many many people whose life this young man touched. Mothers' Day weekend...was the last time I saw Brandon...and he was still the same loving caring individual he had always been....worrying about his mom who had lost everything she owned in a fire.....
I don't live in Natchez now but did for 30 years...and I know of many people who died on this same road....
JUDGE NOT LEST YOU BE JUDGED!!!!!

I would just like to say to Brandon's mom, Jonathan, and Amanda; I am so sorry for what you are going through. I know it's been a long time since we've seen each other. But, I think about y'all all the time. I wish there were something I could do to help. I wish I weren't so far away right now. I will keep the family in my prayers. ~ Nikki Wade~
