Arrests made in thefts

Published Tuesday, March 31, 2009

NATCHEZ — Three men are in jail and more than $300,000 in stolen merchandise has been recovered as a result of an arrest last week in Columbia.

Some of the stolen merchandise and two of those arrested have roots in Natchez.

Adams County Sheriff’s Investigator Ricky Stevens said it’s not common to see theft rings as widespread and organized as the one busted last week.

Stevens and Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said they believe the trio, and possibly others, is involved in several thefts of lawn equipment in Natchez, Adams County and other counties in Mississippi.

The ring was exposed when Darin McCoy, 34, of Natchez was arrested Wednesday in Columbia while allegedly trying to steal a high-end riding lawn mower.

Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said McCoy’s arrest then led to the arrest of Jamie Loving and Dale Perry, formerly of Natchez.

Mullins said since the arrest, two mowers, recently stolen from a local retailer; one four-wheeler; two off-road vehicles and three trailers have been recovered.

At least two of the mowers were stolen from Cook Lawn and Tractor.

One of the four-wheelers, with a trailer, was stolen from Briarwood Drive in December.

Godbold said the bulk of the stolen merchandise was four-wheelers, off-road vehicles, trailers, mowers and some generators.

The investigation is open and ongoing, Mullins said

“We expecting more recoveries and possibly more arrests,” he said.

Mullins said authorities from Columbia, Franklin County, Hattiesburg and Lincoln County are all working on the investigation.

The United States Department of Agriculture, which investigates large equipment theft, is also assisting the investigation.

While none of the three arrested are being detained in Natchez, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office does have a hold on all three men pending their releases.

And for at least one of the three, a trip to the Adams County Jail won’t be a first.

Stevens said McCoy was out on bond from a previous arrest in Adams County for stealing a riding lawn mower.

His bond has since been revoked, Stevens said.

Bye Darin, Jamie, and Dale. So long, farewell. Have a nice life. I detest a thief.

Folks who buy these goods are contributing. When a deal is too good to be true........it may be stolen. If they could not sell these items, they would not be stolen. If you have something stolen, check the pawn shops. I did and found several items.

I was wondering if they had anything to do with those Bad Boy buggy thefts? Good catch, keep it coming.

3 Badboy Buggies were recovered, expect more stolen property to show up during the investigation. Read the article in the Brookhaven Daily Leader online.

Yes these guys also stole the bad boy buggies.. They caught the men in Brookhaven with not only the buggies but also trailers razors, rangers, lawn equipment... you name it they had it.. Think about it.. You would think that grown men would not do this sort of thing you would think only younger adults that didn't have a job or a family would do things like this.. Now days you can't put an age on things.. YOU SHOULD PUT A PRICE TAG ON IT!! LOL.. These guys i think should be put away for years.. AND TO ALL THE ONES IN THE INVESTIGATION,, THANK YALL SO MUCH YALL DID A GREAT JOB.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

Posted by Hardcorps (anonymous) on March 31, 2009 at 10:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

If they like lawn equipment so much let them take care of the grounds at Parchman the rest of their lives. Thieves should be crucified.

way to go PO-PO!!!

hey I wonder if these are the guys that hit Bad Boy? I'm thinking probably so, huh?

hey oldfashion- I hadn't heard about arrests in Brookhaven, are you saying that and these guys are the same? Did they recover the Bad Boy buggies? fill us in please.......

yes thieves like this should have an added charge of organized crime added on and receive LOOOONNNGGGG sentences for this, .......because there is obviously an extended multi-county and probably across state lines movement of stolen items involving a network of thieves working together ........ bust em all down the road and up to Parchmen for hard labor on the farm, YEAH!!!

Good job. But in Concordia Parish our sheriff, Randy Maxwell just lost a $1,000,000 lawsuit with Jim Whittington for not filing a rubuttal to that suit within 30 days. A federal judge in Lafayette signed the motion for default yesterday. Also, our judge Leo Boothe and William Yarbrough were involved in a hit and run yesterday in Marksville after leaving the casino there. Be interesting to see if this makes the news.

I see the article from Brookhaven, thanks for the link on that, WOW!! - from as far away as Texas the LEOs (law enforcement officers) are recovering these vehicles......these were some bad boys, and I wonder how far they would have gone, in regards to violence, if a victim had walked up on them in the middle of stealing, you think they would have said "oh I'm sorry, I was thinking this was mine, I got mixed up and thought this was my yard, uh I'll just leave it here and mosey on down the road, didn't mean to upset you" and go away without harming the rightful owner? I think not, no telling how crazy they would have acted to get away.....

What's the difference between a thug or a thief? They both steal, right? The reason why I say this is because in previous articles about the stolen equipment, all you read in the comments were about thugs and this and that. Funny, I don't see that being mentioned now.

Send the thieves to jail to be with the thugs.

Krogers---- Jamie and Dale are from the Brookhaven area.. That is where they discovered all the stolen goods.. It is true that they have to go all over to recover alot of the stolen items that was sold to other people and so on.. And they did recover the bad boys...

Drawpaintsing---- I agree with you.. In my statement i posted earlier at the top.. You can never put an age on anything these days.. You look in the paper now and it is more elder people doing things that you would think only young kids are teenagers or the younger adults with out a job and no money flow would do.... I agree send them on in with the thugs.. It is no difference between them...

Batman(Benton) as usual you have your facts all screwed up again - Yes, Judge Boothe did get into an accident but it was on Dunbarton Road and it was not a Hit and Run and William Yarbrough was no where in sight. With reporting like that it is no wonder the TCU went under.

My home was burglarized last week while my husband and I were at work. They made off with a flat panel TV, generator, all of my jewelry, computer, laser printer, my daughter's class ring, all of my husband's guns and ammo. Please be on the look out for a navy blue old (1980's) square body single cab pick-up with a nice paint job. Two middle aged white guys were the suspected thugs (thieves). Word of advice to everyone, write down serial numbers and have a good record of your stuff.

Hadenough!!! My home was also burglarized... They took my tvs and my jewelry box also... The guy that lives next to me said the truck was loud and dark in color.... Do you live in the country?

Like father like son. Now Dale Perry can be room mates with his Daddy in prison.

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on March 31, 2009 at 4:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Who is Dale Perry's father? I would like to know

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on March 31, 2009 at 4:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hadenough>>> i would also like to know what kind of truck the guys was driving.. I have been hot on the trail trying to find out who broke into my home.. I have some pretty good leads and i have also bugged the mess out of our SO.. I called them once or twice a week.. I feel like if they don't stay on the case that someone elses home will get brokin into.. I feel like who ever is breaking into all the homes here in natchez live here or very close by.. It is a shame that people can do things like this and still live with their self.. To wake up and look in the mirror and smile like they have done no wrong.. It is honest people like us that suffer because of people like Dale Perry and Jamie Loving and the ones breaking into homes stealing our things.. I truly pitty them.. May God Have Mercey On Your Soul..

My father purchased his riding lawnmower in April 2008. Darren McCoy stoled his lawnmower in September 2008. And the bad thing about it , we have known Darren all of his life. The court ruled for him to pay for the lawnmower and my father has not received one red cent. And the sad part about it, nothing happens if he doesn't ever pay for it. I really don't think it is fair that he gets away without paying restitution. So do the court really work for the victim in this case?

Posted by natashakubelikov (anonymous) on March 31, 2009 at 11:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

{Stevens said McCoy was out on bond from a previous arrest in Adams County for stealing a riding lawn mower.}}

They will all be out stealing again soon,it,s a shame they can,t send them to the Maricopa County jail in Arizona for a year. The sheriff over there is not very lenient

Posted by natashakubelikov (anonymous) on March 31, 2009 at 11:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The catches are good, but they won,t do much to them ususally,if they do it will be an exception.

Kid stole $500.00 from me once. The judge ordered him to pay it back, never saw a cent. That,s all baloney, they don,t understand anything but hardtime, and that don,t phase most of them.

To everyone that has had their home brokin into make sure you stay on the phone with the SO.. I have been and they are actually doing some investigation.. They were able to lift some fingerprints from my home but was unable to read them i guess.. But they have been working hard trying to find the ones who done this.. So please don't give up.. Keep trying...

Posted by WLRESIDENT (anonymous) on April 1, 2009 at 3:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Why doesn't everyone wait until everything comes out?we need to wait and find whole story before we throw away the key?everyone is so quick to judge them because of article.

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on April 1, 2009 at 3:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

WLRESIDENT---- What do you mean? Wait to find out the whole story? The story is out.. And these guys are the ones that done it.. They tried to say they was a dealer for Bad Boy Enterprises.. That was a total lie.. So did that also make them a dealer for the lawn equipment and other ATVs they have stolen.. They was caught redhanded through investigation.. And Jamie Loving.. I do believe his wife is a nurse.. Come on.. He has to have a little play money form her.. And Dale Perry i have found out that he is big into drag racing and he is just a middle class man with all the big spending on the drag strip.. Where is his money coming from??? They are guilty and whoever else they catch doing the same thing is guilty also.

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on April 1, 2009 at 4:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

More info.. Dale Perry and Jamie Loving also stole a car to put a motor in Dale Perry's car.. They have inpounded his car.. Finding the motor was stolen and the car that they stole to get the motor they cut up and pushed into a hole behind Jamie Loving's house.. These guys thought they was untouchable.. Guess what?? They ain't.. Also the Darren guy is one of they guys that stole a buggy form someone that i know.. Darren amitted to stealing the buggy. And he said they changed the bodies of the buggies and burned some of the ones they stole.. I hope they sit in jail for a long long time..

how does everyone think they know all the answers?there will be alot of things said until something else makes the news.do any of you actually know these people?

Posted by overthehill60 (anonymous) on April 1, 2009 at 5:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

You have me curious as to who you are.
Dale Perry learned the tricks of the trade from his Daddy & like his Daddy it finally caught up with him.

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on April 2, 2009 at 8:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Everyone doesn't think they know all the answers.. Its a fact at whats been done.. Dale Perry and Jamie Loving and The Darren guy were all working together to make all of this happen.. Darren was stealing the equipment and Dale and Jamie was storing it and getting money for it.. They all got caught and im GLADE... Everyone that knows of Dale Perry knows he is as twisted as they come.. They had fun doing the deed know they can have fun serving the time..

Posted by oldfashion (anonymous) on April 2, 2009 at 8:28 a.m. (Suggest removal)
